"We reserved a table at the Five Sails for our 22nd Anniversary dinner. When we arrived the staff greeted us with "happy anniversary" and seated us at the best seat in the house over looking the harbour. From the moment we arrived the service was timely, subtle and what you would expect at a 5 star restaurant. The ambiance was romantic and quiet with a spectacular view. We ordered the Chef's tasting menu and the accompanying wine flight. Of all the appetizers, the caramelized weathervane scallop with mousseline of caper emulsion was the course that set the whole meal off: the best scallop I have ever had. Favorite wine was the Robert Mondavi Cab Sauv that went well with the Alberta beef filet. Overall a very satisfying experience."

"Great location that could be marred if a cruise ship is docked. We were fortunate in that a ship just pulled out of the dock as we were walking to the restaurant. Otherwise, the spectacular view of the water would have been blocked. Prix fixe dinner was great, service top notch. Would definitely go there again. Quiet restaurant, although it was relatively empty the night we dined. Definitely get a table by the window: watch the seaplanes land and take off."

"It is always a great enjoyment to dine at the Five Sails Restaurant - superb food, excellent service and remarkable ambience ! As it's the Halibut season, so I ordered the special Halibut set dinner menu - what a pleasant surprise ! The entree of halibut was cooked so nicely that it was like having a piece of seabass!! I've had halibut in other restaurants but they were tasteless and tough (overcooked). Besides, it is always a pleasure to see Ms. Gerry Sayers and I have requested her to pass on the commendations to the Chef. I have already recommended Five Sails highly to my friends. Thanks. Kelly"

"The table d'hote 3 course meal which chnages with the season is the best meal in town. In a restaurant of that calibre, $50 person , you really get more than you expect in terms of quality. The food portions are very generous for fine dining. Very knowledgeable sommelier, warm reception very single time. Its a very tight ship the owners run and it shows. We have dined on many occasion and we have never been disappointed."

"This was our first time at Five Sails and I was enormously impressed. A warm and delightful ambiance paired with stunning waterfront views lend to a spectacular evening. After coat check we were seated immediately at a view table. Our meals were cooked to perfection. To add, the chef also offered complimentary appetizers and small desserts. Our soufflé tasted as good as it looked. The food and the service were utterly impeccable. I honestly can’t commend the Chef, the Maitre D’, and the waiting staff enough for an excellent evening. If you haven’t already visited this stunning restaurant you won't be disappointed. Make sure she gets the view!"

"Everything was phenomenal. Hostesses seemed rather flustered when we arrived, but it was during the last day of Dine Out Vancouver and the restaurant seemed at capacity. The service and food once seated was absolutely magnificent. If I would change anything, it would be to book my reservation during the daylight or sunset hours to get a better chance to enjoy the view."

"Considering it was a dine-out event, I thought the restaurant did an exceptional job in maintaining their high standard in the quality of the food & service. The portions I felt was a little small but they made up for it in the taste & overall presentation of the food. I think Five Sails is one restaurant that can really deliver a "fine dining" experience."

"Disappointed! This is not the Five Sail I used to go. Servers were not friendly and not willing to offer help. They don't even ask you how's the food. They just keep talking to each others. Food was overcooked (my prawns and wife's fish). It feel like 2 0f their 5 stars rating was falling down."

"Food was really good. I especially like the giant ravioli stuffed with salmon and crab, and served with lobster emulsion. I also tried the sable fish from their dine out menu, and it has that sweet and smokey flavours that I really like. Fish was cooked to perfection -- very smooth and fakey. Dessert (apple strudel and tart with pistachio ice cream) was good but not outstanding. The pastry shell of the apple strudel was a bit soaky.
The only disappointment is the portion size. I needed to make a cup noodle after I got home which is only 30 min away from the restaurant.
Service was good. The boss actually came back and served us dessert and when we left, helped us with our coats."

"The food is delicious n the setting is cosy. I am not sure if it is because dine-out the restaurant is packed. Normally if u order some beef dishes the waiter wl ask how well u want it to be done but not this time. We had a table by the window n the evening scene of Vancouver is spectacular. I definitely wl go back for some special occasion."
