"The food was good, but not quite as good as I had hoped considering some of the good reviews I had read and heard and the great location. It was a good meal though, and very moderately priced for La Jolla. Some people I know love this place though and I would consider going again. It has a great view, nice atmosphere, but our service wasn't great. Apparently they are closing down or relocating soon anyway."

"My wife and I first discovered Acqua a few years ago. It was love at first taste. We've been back to celbrate birthdays, Valentine's day, our engagement, and just for a nice dinner out. It is reasonably priced and the food is fantastic. The baked brie appetizer in my wife's favorite. Acqua is a must-try."

"Dining out on Valentine's Day can often be a bust due to limited menus, inflated prices and rushed service, but I am happy to report that none of these was an issue when we dined at Trattoria Acqua this Valentine's Day. In addition to their regular, extensive and interesting menu, they had several specials. We all had something different and everything was excellent, from the baked brie appetizer to the chocolate chip panettone desert. The service was attentive, prompt when we needed it (as when we requested more of the delicious bread!), but leisurely enough so that we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. We were delighted with our dining experience and intend to become regulars at Trattoria Acqua!"

"My friends and I had a great time at this restaurant. I'm originally from San Diego but I live out of state now. I came during SD Restaurant Week and we took this opportunity to try out a bunch of restaurants. The menu online was what drew us to Trattoria Acqua and when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised that the entire menu was offered at the Restaurant Week price. The staff was very nice and and the chocolate chip bread pudding was yummy! My friends and I haven't seen each other in many months and nothing distracted us from having a fun reunion and we appreciated that. We will be back! :)"

"It was our 24th anniversary and we had a friend and our son join us for dinner. First of all, the view is not even close to the picture they have on thier website, you might have a view of the Ocean from one of their tables if you lean out... That was a little disappointment but the service and food were excellent. Our waiter was just perfect with advice and service and the food was excellent.
We had a great evening and the cost was about what it should have been."

"The food and ambience were great but the service was not so great. Our waiter blamed the busboy for: not asking if we wanted dessert and just bringing the check and not bringing eating utencils (forks or spoons) with our dessert. No one ever offered coffee either; by that time it was too much hard work to get served! So,3 bad moves (ommissions of service) added to bad mouthing the busboy--poor form!"

"Our New Year's Eve dinner was fabulous. The setting, as always, was superb and the wait staff both professional and friendly. We had two of the "regular" and two of the "special" menu items, and all were excellent. I especially loved the Lobster Risotto and the Chocolate cake dessert."

"Great hideaway spot - unfortunately, the crowd was sparce when I went and so the restaurant was very quiet. I can see it would be really fun if it was full with the many rooms and central courtyard.

Food was good - baked brie was yummy and the warm bread served with the hummus (on the house) was fantastic as a table starter! Wine selection was minimal but what I did have was delicious.

Service was good - we had a wait a bit for our check but wasn't a terrible wait."
