"Loved this place. A little off the beat and path, but a great view, cool lounge decor, nice service and really good food. A bit of a japanese influence. Portions are not large, but they are excellent."

Review 2 for Blue Velvet
Overall Rating
(Good)
"I'd been to the Blue Velvet once before for a networking event and it has a great view of downtown LA and seemed like nice restaurant, so when my friend came in from out of town, I decided that we should go there and give it a try. Our first disappointment was how difficult it was to find. It's off of a very secluded side street and I wished there was a sign on the street that created more awareness of the restaurant's presence. Blue Velvet had private parking and once we got into the restaurant at 9:45pm, we were told that it closed at 10pm on weekdays making us feel a bit rushed as the kitchen was closing. I found the food to be a bit too rich and the portions small, prices were moderate and there were few people dining that night."

Review 5 for Blue Velvet
Overall Rating
(Poor)
"What a disaster. Took so long to get our drinks. Many vegetarian items were not available. Only one out of 3 veggie sides, and one of 3 salads available. Lamb chops came too rare even though I asked for medium and the "mint glaze" was too spicy for me to eat. Two diners ordered the cod which took 25 minutes, carrots/snap peas. One piece of cod was plated skin-side down on about 4 pieces of carrot/snap peas, the other skin-side up with sad little veg on the side. We ordered caesar salad and mac n cheese appetizers but no one thought to provide utensils besides the chopsticks until we asked. Sushi appetizer came later than the others so 2 of us were watching our friends eat. No option to the $6 valet."

Review 7 for Blue Velvet
Overall Rating
(Fair)
"Here's the bummer about my visit to Blue Velvet...it was one of the coldest nights in LA in a very long time - AND THEY HAD NO HEAT ON. They had heat, they just wouldn't turn it on because, they said, "it would make it 85 degrees in here if we did." We ate dinner in our coats and scarves. ABSURD. I will not be back."
