Taste at the Palisades, sister restaurant to Taste on Melrose, now resided just off Sunset Blvd a stones throw from PCH. With its relaxed setting, homey yet sophisticated, the menu offers updated Californian comfort cuisine for eminently moderate prices. The menu, split equally between appetizers and entrees, includes seasonal finds like white truffle mac 'n' cheese, salads and pizzettas. The unusual but simple starter of grilled romaine lettuce topped with gorgonzola, applewood smoked bacon and Granny Smith apples is a must-try. Main-course highlights like Kobe beef burger and crispy parmesan chicken paillard atop garlic potato puree.
Taste at the Palisades offers everything that people are looking for in a neighborhood restaurant - namely good food and friendly service.
"I thought the food was good, not the best, my wife's pasta was too spicy, my steak was over cooked, but it was all still good. Honestly, if I had one thing to moan about, it would be the crowd. I'm young, liberal, I don't wear suits, but when I'm spending that much money on food, I'd like to be in a crowd that doesn't show up in cut off jeans and sideways baseball caps. I'm not blaming the management of the restaurant, they need to make money, I get it, but next time I take my wife out for an expensive meal I'll go someplace that feels a little nicer."

"Though we have always enjoyed this restaurant for normal dining this was not the place to go for Mother's Day. The food and service was mediocre. The $29.00 prix fixe included some regular menu items: hamburgers, chicken breast (salad!), a small bread basket of stale bread and and empty plates of dessert selections - our reservation was for noon so maybe they had run out. Menu did not include any drinks. And there was absolutely no Mother's Day atmosphere."

"We generally like to try out new restaurants and when we can get a discount or a coupon for them it's a bonus. However, I feel like that if you have a coupon or a discount then that means you automatically get discounted by the waitress. This is not always the case but here at this restaurant it was. As soon as the waitress realized we had a Bloomspot coupon the service went downhill. We asked for water and had to reask twice. And she made her way by our table maybe once the entire time. I still tipped 20% on the full price of the meal without the coupon but had I not felt like the service was due to our coupon her tip would have been downgraded. The food more than made up for it though. Skip the french fries though, they aren't worth it."

"Very good food, but very poor service. Taste was virtually empty and food took forever. Personnel seemed more interested in talking with each other then on proper customer service."

"Went with a friend. It was early and not crowded so we asked if they would hold our table a few minutes because the really cute clothing store next to it was open late. They did, were really sweet about it. We went shopping came back and had a lovely meal. Both of us had fish, different fish, and both were excellent."

"We had a very nice lunch there with our kids. The kids menu was reasonable and had great selections. The kids pasta was quite small and we had to order a second which costs more than 1 adult entree. We both had the quinoa salad which was delicious but again portions were very small for an entree salad at $12.95."

"Appreciate the gluten-free options on many of the items and the large selection of vegetables as sides. The kobe burger (no bun)was really good and pairing it with a side salad was perfect."

"I have been to the taste off of melrose before and had a good experience. This taste I was a little disappointed by because I picked it based on the menu and when we got there the item I wanted the scallops was no longer offered. I got the pepper steak instead and was not as excited about it as it had a bit to much pepper for my taste buds. However we did have the tuna tar tar as an app which was very good."

"Paulino and his staff hit it out of the park once again! This was our second annual Valentines Day dinner with friends at Taste, and it was absolutely wonderful! The special event menu had something for everyone. The service was terrific, as usual. Thank you for a lovely evening!"

"Love this place but every single time I have been here (over 5 times) have a constant issue with service. From the wait staff taking forever to even greet us or bring us water, to taking our order, to forgetting to bring the wine I ordered until after I have started eating my main course. The food is the sole reason I keep coming back which is amazing. I brought a friend here without mentioning my feelings on the service & she made a comment saying how shocked she was at how awful it was. For the prices of the food the service is absurd, not what I would expect."

"The food at Taste is always excellent! The service was also wonderful, but there's not much ambiance at the Palisades location. The tables are waaaay too close together and it just feels very uncomfortable. If you're just looking for great food, you definitely can't go wrong at either location, but it you're looking for great ambiance as well, then Taste on Melrose is the better choice."

"Wow! Appreciate that all of the pasta dishes can be made gluten-free. The salmon special on restaurant week was amazing! Great flavors, textures and colors, and a nice presentation. The small plates are the appropriate size. The pumpkin gelato was amazing! The service was outstanding!"
