Local 127 is a new American eatery using only the freshest ingredients. Local 127 combines traditional American dishes handed down over time with practices from the modern American culinary world. Local 127 starts with the farmers. Working closely with the farmers the team is able to use only the finest ingredients according to the season, delivering incredible, tasty dishes. With the art of gastronomy being the driving force, everything from the taste, the presentation, the smell and the feel of Local 127 ties into the idea that without history there would be no today and that without progression there would be no tomorrow. Rather than a tribute to America, Local 127 is more of a celebration of all things American. America being the melting pot that it is, one never knows what might show up on your plate or in your glass at Local 127.

"We returned to Local 127 to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant was very un-crowded for a Friday night, yet I don't think our service was that great. It seemed like we were inconveniencing our waiter to ask questions about the menu even though I don't think he had more than 1 other table. He eventually "warmed up" to us, but it's not the same level of service I've experienced at Local 127 in the past.
Other than that, the food was very good. My wife had the scallops and I had the Porkopolis, which is a rotating selection of whatever type of pork is in season. It was some of the best pork I've had in the form of smoked ham, pork belly, and house-made sausage. Our waiter's wine pairing recommendations were good, yet affordable."

"This meal was a reminder that fresh ingredients, cooked simply with a few well-chosen seasonings and paired sides, stand up for themselves. All the vegetables in our meal were cooked to perfection - an achievement in the 4-5 veggie succotash that accompanied the bass entree. Fresh lemon juice permeated the spinach & bok choy side without being overwhelming. The house-made sausage in the Porkopolis entree was well-paired with a creamy wheat berry ragout. From the warm cornbread muffins to the fresh cookies that came with our freshly pressed coffee, our meal was delicious and satisfying; no need for overpowering or competing flavors nor excess richness.

"Everything about Local 127 would bring me back except the wine list. While there were a few so-so selections in the $30-40 range, most were considerably more. I've purchased too many very good bottles retail in the $10-20 range to pay $60+ for a decent bottle at a restaurant."

"I ate several years ago at Local 127 and thought the food was ok. Since they moved, I tried it again and it was excellent. The beet salad was delicious and the Goat Meatballs were excellent. The waiter made several suggestions and they proved to be good selections. I would come back."

"Our experience this time was not as good as when we ate here on New Year's Eve. The food was uneven. We thought the charcuterie plate was good, with the exception of the "bacon" which resembled more a pile of bacon fat. We were surprised that the plate was priced at $12/person. the food seemed about right at $12 total. I had the porkopolis entree and it was good. My wife's fish was over cooked and not very tasty. Ambience was very "french bistro" which we thought was cool. Cocktails, beer and wine were good, as was the service. All-in-all, it was a nice night, but not as nice as we expected for the price."

"Went with another couple and we all love wine. Almost every wine on their list is over $68 and I didn't see anything I knew I would like. There was not one single Zinfandel on the entire list, our favorite varietal. We ordered the house Spanish wine which was ok, but at least we didn't spend $70 for a wine we might not even like. Very disappointing-"

"We went for Restaurant Week (RW) but were dismayed to find they've changed it here this year, and now everyone at the table had to order the RW menu, or nobody could. That was disappointing and as one at our table said, the policy was instituted for THEIR convenience and not for the customers'. It also was quite noisy and hard to hear each other. All that said, food & drinks were great. The "Liberal LIberal" cocktail is a solid favorite, and I enjoyed the scallops entree. We liked our server a lot, even though our first drink order took longer than it should have to deliver. I love Steve Geddes's cooking and will return when the opportunity arises."

"The food was delicious--inventive and flavorful. Our server was less than enthusiastic and attentive, and it seemed to take an awfully long time for our entrees to arrive. The atmosphere was way too noisy for our taste, especially since this is a restaurant where we spent over $100 for two people. We were seated close to the entry and the bar area, which could account for much of the noise. In the future, I think we may request a table toward the back."

"I forgot my tkts to the Lyle Lovett concert so I had to dash home as the wine arrived, and missed my 1/2 of the dinner. My wife stayed and enjoyed the rest of a very nice Italian white from Puglia and a great beet salad. She ordered the lamb meatballs and would not recommend that particular entree .... but the server (Stephen) noted her full plate and offered a change or a comp. Time forced her to take the comp, which was very thoughtful of the staff. When she raced out to meet me for the concert, they even gave her a little care package for me since I had missed dinner. We will definitely come again, when there's more time to enjoy."

"This was our second time here and the food was fabulous just like the first time. The kitchen seemed a little backed up for the amount of people that were there but that didn't spoil the meal. It was served hot. The variety of food here is amazing and it has it's own uniqueness. Very nice to know that a lot of local suppliers and businesses are used. The cornbread...WOW. You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not try the Chef's sampler! The wine list....pricey....but great selections....I think they could benefit from more moderately priced vintages. We will be back!!!!!"

"Interesting food, unusual preparations that aren't so inaccessable that they can't be enjoyed. Very tasty. And I love that much of the menu is locally sourced. I had the sea bass (um, maybe that *wasn't* locally sourced), which was exceptional. I also tried the beet appetizer, which was tasty. I'm not a big fan of the trend of putting tables close to each other; we were seated in a row that were kind of close - if you want a romantic dinner, ask for one of the tables that are separated from others."

"The place has a fun feel, a great bar and beer list, and an enticing menu. Unfortunately the food preparation is just mediocre and the service, though friendly and earnest, is sloppy. The whole locavore organic thing is great, but if the chef can't make Chef food tasty, it really doesn't matter. Chicken was dry and bland. Smoked trout, though of high quality was presented as just scooped in a bowl. Go for a cocktail and a snack at the bar, skip the dinner"

"This was our second dining experience at Local 127. The restaurant decor is delightful, and the staff couldn't be more attentive.The dishes don't live up to their menu descriptions, with bland seasonings and sauces. It doesn't compare in quality and creativity to other restaurants downtown such as Abigal Street and Senate. The charcuterie appetizer plate was expensive, providing 4 chicken wings, and very small piles smoked trout, some shaved raw lamb belly, and 4 - 1" gray strips of bland pork, at $12 per person, for a party of 4. The meatloaf was average with a scorched tomato glaze and was served atop a bed equally scorched potato wedges.The lamb meatballs were fatty, broccolini sides OK, and the grits watery, but at least tasty."

"The food is fantastic and perfectly prepared. I asked for a recommendation for dinner since all of the larger plates have meat or seafood and I don't eat meat, and the chef prepared a vegetarian dinner for me instead. It seems the chef does it a lot, so be sure to ask! We highly recommend the potato small plate and the roasted beet and goat cheese small plate, both were amazing."

"Food was perfect. Fresh,farm to table as it"s meant to be. Lamb special was cooked to med rare perfection & loved the texture of sunchokes. Porkopolis was mouthwatering baby ribs, pork belly, tenderloin a wow. Diver scallops were tender, loved the crunh of almonds--so unique. Striped bass was delicately delicious. AND all agreed WHITE ONION soup was sublime. (RECIPE Please??)
Wines by the glasses were unique and perfect pairings. Hope to find the Spanish White again.
Servers knowledgabla & helpful but drinks were very slow coming--to the point my hubby went to the bar twice to get them.

"This was the most eclectic restaurant we encountered in Cincinnati. As the name implies they buy fresh locally whenever possible and use sustainable ingredients. Their wine list relects this policy as well. Their roasted beet salad was recommended and enjoyed s well as a nice greens salad. The lamb meatballs were amazing, spicy with a hint of heat. The chicken two ways and duck breast was also very good. They offer some nice sides as well; we tried the butternut sqash in brown butter with a drizzle of maple syrup and the sunchokes. Our desserts were cheese cake and a really great cheese plate. Our server was very nice and passionate about the restaurant. This was the best meal we had in Cincinnati. Right next to the Westin or Hilton."

"Food and presentation of were great, amosphere was very fun and lively, so nice to see a downtown restaurant do well on a saturday night that is not a major market (ie Chicago, NY, etc). Loved the idea of locally owned with local ingreds! The only thing that was odd....for a Saturday night the bar ran out of a popular name brand of vodka and olives for martinis. We understood when they were out of food items on the menu, that is a chance you take when using all local and all natural ingreds. But for a bar to run out of staples on a Saturday night and it wasn't even 9pm...thats a problem."

"I really enjoy the food here. Teh charcuterie was as delicious as ever. My friend's striped bass was amazing with a elicious crucnhy edge. My duck breast was nice. Our waiter was very so-so, levaing me to conclude he was either a)new, b) not feeling well or 3) not the service-oriented type. And the restaurant was only moderately busy."

"We went to 127 for Easter Brunch because we liked the menu. It was unique, tasty and the portion sizes were good for a fixed price meal--though the cheese tray was a bit skimpier. The wait person was just attentive enough and just friendly enough without being intrusive. All sorts of people were there from older folks like us to well behaved children. And they make a mean bloody mary :)"

"My partner and I went to Local 127 to celebrate my birthday. Staff members were helpful and friendly, and the food was very tasty! Locally sourced, in-season food really does taste better. Price-wise, it was a bit of a splurge, but it is a lovely spot for an occasion to remember!"

"As always - fabulous. Still my favorite in Cinci! It can get a bit noisy and the tables are a bit awkward, but no place can be perfect. While I would not describe the bar as vibrant, some of the best cocktails in the city. Especially whiskey, bourbon, or brandy based drinks."

"After taking a mini get away to cincy this was the highlight of the trip. My wife and I will try to find local eateries anywhere we travel and this was a gem! "We were a group of four eating dinner after the Cinci Wine Fest. The staff was flexible as we arrived about 20 minutes early for our reservation. The table service was accurate and timely. Our waiter had good recommendations for our order as well. The charcuterie plate was generous and would easily serve 6 or 8. We selected the Lomo for our optional selection and it was very good. M wife had the meatloaf and I had the scallops. Both entrees were excellent. The scallops were perfectly cooked and came out at the same time as the rest of the entrees. The wine list has plenty of selections in multiple price points to allow good choice. We will return when in Cinci."
