"Caprice has some of the best views and is one of the most romantic spots for dinner in the San Francisco area. It's a great place for an anniversary or birhtday dinner with a special person. It's quiet and could use live music. The food is well prepared and the service is always attentive."

"I picked Caprise for a belated birthday dinner for my boyfriend - We had a beautiful table for two in a quiet little corner that you could see the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline. The food was delicious and we even got a complementary little shirmp appetizer teaser, very unexpected. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful evening."

"The view is spectacular, no doubt. The food is OK, but really just OK. Service was a little slow, especially for a Wednesday evening that was not at all busy. Orders should have been taken when the drinks were brought, but we were left with our menus and no bread . . . after that, things picked up a bit. The petrale sole was done well, but the sauce was lackluster and added little. Same of the wienerschnitzel (misspelled on the menu), which could have benefitted from a healthy squeeze of lemon. I'm glad we went, but I don't know that we'll be coming back anytime soon with so many other offerings out there."

"I was looking for an intimate dinner for a special occassion and was VERY pleased. Service and food were amazing. Watching the moon rise over the hills and reflected on the bay on one side of Angel island and a picture worthy view of the Golden Gate and San Francisco on the other in a setting that seemed built for two, even though others were there--Priceless"

"We had the table in the back to ourselves. Was most romantic with a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the city. Wonderful sunset also. My duck, however, was a bit overdone. The leg was very tender but the rest was a bit dry. The waiter was great and I definitely will be back!"

"I had not had a meal at Caprice since August 2008 when my husband and I agreed the food was marvelous. This visit disappointed me. I had luke-warm asparagus soup with little to no taste of asparagus, and duck a l'orange which had no orange sauce at all. If we had not had a guest with us, I would have sent it back. The "pole beans" were not trimmed; quite a few of them were tough. The lemon tart dessert proved better, with a memorable shortbread crust, but why did they serve a hamantaschen (that looked as if it came from Costco!) with it? Unlike too many restaurants that present a box of tea bags to diners who order tea, Caprice actually brewed tea in individual pots with loose leaves. A real plus. All in all, though, I would not return."

"Great view of the Golden Gate bridge, San Francisco and the Bay and recently refurbished, the restaurant has a clean, fresh, crisp look which compliments the view nicely. The rack of lamb was perfectly done and tender and tasty as it should be. The duck a l'orange was very tasty and the sauce one of the best I've tasted. All this and reasonable prices."

"It was an excellent experience overall. The restaurant is located right at the water's edge, about 4 feet above the level of the bay. There are approximately 2 columns of tables all through the restaurant, one column runs right next to the windows and the other runs parallel to the first one about 3-4 feet away. But both columns get almost exactly the same fantastic view. The view is a lot better during the day and on moonlit nights. At night, you can see the city lights but you actually have to peer through the windows through cupped hands to see the water. The food is fantastic - don't miss the crab cakes, the chocolate cake, and the bass filet. Valet parking is free, the restaurant is pricey but has this understated elegance that I love."

"Very romantic spot with a nice view of S.F. and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Food was very good bordering on outstanding. My Beef Wellington was superb, very tender and flavorful. My wife had seared scallops which were divine. The Caesar salad wasn't too memorable, but I am a bit of a tough one to please in that department.
Desert was very good - a molten flourless chocolate cake with gelato.
Service was very good- we had an early reservation, but since it was Valentines weekend they did get very busy towards the end of our meal. However we were never rushed nor forgotten.
I would highly recommend A.Caprice."

"A Caprise, thank you so much for accepting my request for a romantic seating for this very special dinner for my love and I. We had the best view in the place! The waiter was very courteous and I would have rated higher if he scraped the crumbs between courses (especially after the bread) and it seemed that we were served after people who were there after us. All in all, we will consider The Caprise again."

"A Caprice is a very charming small restaurant with spectacular views of San Francisco Bay. We had excellent asparagus soup, beautiful large plump day boat scallops and a very tasty Wienerschnitzel. The chef sent out a spoon size complimentary shrimp appetizer and there was a refreshing grapefruit sorbet served after the first course. We were there on a Saturday night and the service, while friendly and professional, was quite slow. We ended up receiving two complimentary sorbets, spaced about 10 minutes apart and then a complimentary salad to apologize for the wait plus additional bread. We did not order coffee or dessert - too full. The two course dinner lasted two hours and fifteen minutes. The food was good enough that I would go back."

"My husband took me to The Caprice for my birthday. It was a stormy night but we hardly noticed with the roaring fire in the fireplace. It was so cozy and intimate. Our table overlooked the bay with views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, and Angel Island. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back."

"It was exceptional for new years eve. Everyone ordered something else, and each meal was fantastic. We were very happy we went there on New Years. WE were by the window and it was a bit cramped for 6 (but we did ask to be by the window). Would definitely consider spending another new years there.."

"We had a reservation for 7:30, and when we arrived 10 minutes early, we were asked if we wanted a window table. We said yes, and were told that one would be ready in 10 minutes, but could wait in the bar. .40 minutes later we were ushered to a table near the kitchen door. Guests coming later than we had no trouble getting a window seat."

"This is THE place to go for any special occasion. The ambiance is wonderful: decor is simple, clean and elegant; the service is superb; and the food ... well, try for yourself! A favorite entree of ours is the scallops although the filet mignon appeared to be most sumptuous and will be ordered next time. Portions and presentation are perfect! I would suggest going early to watch sailboats race while indulging in your favorite cocktail and hesitate to share that advice for we love the restaurant all to ourselves at this time. Oh well, it is definitely a restaurant to be enjoyed."

"My wife and I went for our first time this past weekend for dinner. Parking is an issue, so be prepared to look around a bit for a spot. Once we were inside and seated the real experience began. We were seated right away. The bar is quite small but carried some finer top shelf beverages, and I ended up with a Blanton's Whiskey neat. 4 dinner I had fantastic Barramundi dish to die for, who is the saucier at this place! My wife's Fillet Minion was also quite excellent. All in all the food was terrific, and the view was amazing. The service was great as well. There were some louder tables, but they were far enough away from us as to not cause a serious dent in the ambiance. All in all an excellent experience, we will be going back :)"

"we enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal at Caprice very much even though by the time of our late seating the turkey was 86'd--just a minor disappointment for my dining companion. They subbed duck with all the trimmin's. The food was serviceable & the service was attentive & personable. We enjoyed every staff member we came in contact with & will gladly return in the future. The room is pleasant if a bit threadbare & the view is spectacular. A completely pleasant experience at a fairly reasonable price. Wine program is a bit disappointing. If you wish for something special, bring it yourself."

"What a view!! I would go here again for the view. The service was also good. Negatives are the red wine we were served was quite warm, warmer than room temperature.

We were there for Thanksgiving and had prime rib and turkey. The food was good but not great."

"The food is outstanding, service is attentive without being too much and the views are over the top. From special occasions to a night of pampering, Caprice is one of the loveliest spots in the Bay area. You can even bring your own special bottle of wine and pay corkage! Always a treat!"
