"The view was great. The wine was overpriced. My $16 GLASS of wine (recommended by the server) was just OK. The appetizer (lobster crepe) was very good. The duck was good, but the sauce tasted burnt. The filet was very good, tasty and tender. The staff was competent but not very friendly. The busboy was more personable than the waiter."

"The view was fabulous, the service was excellent, but the food was disappointing. The steak which arrived medium rare as requested had a lot of gristle so it was difficult to cut in certain sections, especially for an aged mother. The lamb was tough to cut (even with steak knives which were provided by the server when he noticed us sawing the food) and to chew even in the pink sections and the accompanying potatoes were lukewarm. In retrospect, the waiter should have offered to bring something else out when I told him that the lamb was very chewy. I should have sent the lamb back to the kitchen for another dish but one hesitates to make others uncomfortable and to have others feeling they should wait until your substitute dish arrives."

"Beautiful location, great view of Angel Island and of the Golden Gate, (if not too foggy). Building is older structure, but clean and well maintained. Can't help but think there is a lot of history here!
Quiet, older crowd at least on the week night we ate there.
Fair prices for San Francisco area.
We had salmon and sole, both well prepared in the more classic styles. There are beef dishes as well.
Reasonable priced desserts, large enogh to share."

"It was a Wednesday evening so that might be the reason the sevice wasn't as attentive as usual. The food was as good as ever and the view can't be beat. But we found ourselves waiting at each interval for our waiter to reappear."

"We dined here a long time ago, and the restaurant is still special. It has a fantastic view of San Francisco Bay, the city skyline, Golden Gate Bridge, Andgel Island and Racoon Straits (None of the other waterfront restaurants in Sausalito or Tiburon have a better view). The food is excellent although not over the top. The dining atmosphere is simple, ellegant, intimate, and is perfect for a romantic special dinner. It has a full bar and modest but adequate wine list. The service was just what we wanted (there when needed, invisible when not). The overall dining experience was a bit "old world" but in a nice way. It was easy to focus on my dining companion, our conversation, and enjoy the food and view. We look forward to returning again."

"I'm a big Escargot fan but, unfortunately, they only serve a mixed mushroom and Escargot mix. If they served them in the shell, or in the Escargot container with just butter and garlic, I might suggest this to "foodies". Now that my plug for traditional Escargot is over. I will say that the free valet and both the waiter and water servers were top notch.
The pork tenderloin was a littleover-cooked, but the scallops, halibut, and the prawns were great. I wouldn't say the food is 5-star, but it is good."

"We were given a beautiful window table. The service was excellent and unobtrusive. The food was excellent, but the prices were quite reasonable for the quality. Drinks were excellent, and the wines list was good, a bit pricey, but did includes some excellent wines at good prices. Overall quite impressed and pleased and will return."

"I lived in Tiburon for 2 years, and in Marin for over 20 years and this is the first time I have dined here. What a pleasant surprise! When we drove down to the restaurant past downtown Tiburon we felt like we were going on vacation. When we got to our table in the restaurant, the feeling became greater. What a wonderful setting! Right on the water across from Angel Island with the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco in the distance. Of course, the view doesn't mean anything if the food disappoints. But to the contrary, everything was quite good. Great service, wonderful ambiance, and good food. We will be returning."

"Le Caprice is a fantastic restaurant. During the day, the feel is clean, fresh and beautiful. When the sun sets it becomes cozy and warm with candlelight. The views are gorgeous! The drink menu is imaginative - I enjoyed a Belvedere martini but there were many creative options. The dinner menu had a variety of food - from a vegetarian selection to hearty steak and everything in between. I recommend Le Caprice. It is a great place for a special date night or an evening out with friends."

"The reservation was made weeks in advance & I noted it was for a Birthday Celebration.I called the restaurant on Thursday to make sure they knew it was a Birthday Celebration,and they said it was noted on the reservation. When we dined on Saturday, the service & food was not worth the price we paid. And, when dessert came "NO Birthday Celebration was offered." I felt so bad that I ended up apologized to my friend that her Birthday wasn't acknowledged. I didn't think I needed to mention it to our server & blow the Surprise, since it was noted on the Reservation!"

"The view is stellar; however, the same view can be had sitting outside on a bench. I would advise buying a delicious picnic and doing just that. other than the bread, the food was inedible...trashy, touristy, food. Very expensive, so you are paying for the view and being ripped off. Most people around us were heavily into discussing the wine list, so between their wine and the view, they probably didn't notice how bad the food was."

"Wonderful views of the SF bay including the Golden Gate, don't get much better. However, the food can. While it wasn't bad, it lacked special flavors that make it great. Dishes looked appetizing but just missed the mark. The sauces on the lobster crepes appetizer & the shrimp & filet main dishes were bland, no pizzazz.
The chocolate cake dessert was common too. On the plate was cake, 2 scoops of chocolate mousse, some raspberry sauce & a scoop of almond vanilla ice cream. The flavors didn't blend together well. It seemed as if the chef was throwing different flavors on the plate as opposed to blending them.
If the food was up to the views, this place would be the hardest restaurant in the bay area to get into. Overall good not great."

"Beautiful location. We did not get a window table as requested but still enjoyed a great view. We arrived before dark so we enjoyed both a daylight and night time view of the city and GGB. Bread, coffee and dessert, which are very important to us, was very good. Put smiles on our faces. The meal itself we hoped for better. My shrimp with coconut rice was perfectly seasoned and almost wonderful except that the shrimps were tough-overcooked. My husband's duck for me was perfect but too rare for him-he asked for medium. The crab cakes and caesar salads were ordinary but they did a very nice job of splitting the dishes for us. A nice touch. Our close friends called ahead and ordered two desserts for us as a surprise. It didn't happen."

"Found this restaurant through Living Social deal, and couldn't have been any better! The location is amazing, we had a sunset view of the Golden Gate Bridge from our table! "We hadn't been to the Caprice for many years and went because we had a Living Social deal to use there. What a delicious meal!!! The food was creative...a little different than the regular items you see on menus. Everything was very fresh and sumptuous! Started with the artichokes, then on to the butter lettuce salad, the pork tenderloin (juicy and flavorful) while my husband had the veal. Ended with a delicious molten chocolate cake. We'll be back again soon! Who wants to fight the traffic to get into SF from Marin on Saturday night? It's insane anymore."

"The appetizers were good. The seabass was overcooked and bland. The duck meat lacked favor. Without the living social coupon, prices tend to be high. We were assigned to a corner seat so it basically had not much view."

"Dated, dusty and in need of a serious remodel. 5 star location and views which seems to be the reason to go. Flavors were actually very good but Scallops were very grainy and not washed properly. Rest of food was good but forgettable. Had to move tables when we got there due to lewd guests at next table. Asked server for several simple modifications (dressing on side, rice instead of potatoes, etc.) and he missed every single request. Poor wine by the glass selection for a supposedly 'fine dining' restaurant. Far better places to spend your money in Tiburon. Will not return."

"We enjoyed everything about this restaurant except for the service...it was pleasant enough, but we both really felt like the host, the waiter AND the busboy were there, just to do their jobs. Kinda sad considering the fact that the food was delicious and "service" is probably the most "fixable" element in a restaurant.."

"Service was very polite all around and accomodating. Food was good, but nothing to write home about. Scallops were inconsistently under cooked. Pork loin consisted of two different cuts. One was cooked medium and the other well done. Ice cold butter on room temp. bread. Why have so many resturants not paid attention to this small detail? Cold butter does not spread, but tears the bread. Table near the window provided a nice view of the inlet and Angel Island at night. Voted Best resturant in Tiburon...again? Nice, but not that nice. However, Tiburon is a small town."

"It had been some time since we dined at the Caprice and we are so very impressed. The escargot was out of this world. The filet was exceptional as well as the wiener schnitzel. We are returning there this week.
The cosmos and wine (Rombauer) were delicious. The views outstanding."

However the food was severely lacking given the price point. I was so excited to eat here and the food and service was pretty... just below ok.
I'm shocked it gets such high ratings and I am NOT highly critical.
Maybe I'd give it another shot for lunch, but really? I don't think I'll be back."
