Meridian
Meridian Restaurant and Bar is located in the Meridian Street Historic District on the north side of Indianapolis. Meridian is a fine dining establishment serving innovative American cuisine. The menu incorporates regional American and international flavors sure to please any palate. The menu offers a selection of natural beef, fresh fish, lamb, pork, chicken, and pastas. The excellent wine list is a perfect companion for the menu, and we offer a full selection of cocktails and beer as well. "Excellent menu which had options, all of which sounded incredible, thus making it hard to choose. However, all choices made by the four of us dining were great choices as the selections did not dissapoint. Our waiter was also very knowledgeable of the menu and the preparation of the food and so guided us through the menu well.

"We are a group of 6 that dine out every month, we all vary in age but enjoy good food and wine.
On first arrival the valet parking was a nice surprise and then entering Meridian the atmosphere was one of calm and professional.
The menu was amazing and we had a really hard time just choosing, we all said we needed to come back to have the other choices.
The staff were very professional and we appreciated several waiters serving on our table.
All in all a great find and one that will for a long time be on our top list."

"Meridian is a great restaurant. Food preparation is unique and it changes frequently enough to be exciting when ever you visit. The new chef is slowly changing the menu to be his own. Several items still remain because of patron demand."

"I expected more from this restaurant than the experience I received. My water glass needed to be refilled most of my meal and was only refilled one time. The other area for improvement was that we were ready to order for at least 10 minutes before I let the waiter know we were ready to order. Then, it took him 5 more mintues to get back to our table to take our order. The restaurant seemed to be short-staffed. The food was very good though!"

"Meridian has an alluring exterior but a surprisingly mediocre interior. It took a while for the staff to recognize that we had been seated, and the delivery of appetizer and per-meal food (buns) was disjointed. The buns were just that. The air conditioning was on "high" and so was very cold even though it was a cool evening. All of that really didn't matter though once the entree arrived. The alaskan halibut was out of this world! And dessert was incredible (the carrot cake). We won't return soon, but the food was so memorable we won't be able to forget Meridian any time soon!"

"I highly recommend the venison. It was a spectacular dish. Also, the Brussels Sprouts were some of the best I've ever had. We also tried the potato gnocchi appetizer, apple & candied walnut bibb salad, and the ribeye special. Everything was excellent, but the ribeye just didn't stand up to the savory and complex venison.
It's pricey, but I really appreciate being able to go out to a restaurant with an executive chief that is putting out good, interesting food."

"Though the menu is a bit small, they offer wonderful options. My wife and I each started with the soup (hers was the smoked corn, mine was the yam bisque) and both were excellent. My entree was the pork chop (double cut) and it was great. The cider sauce with it was the perfect companion to it. My wife had a salad and a side dish (I believe the potatoes au gratin) for her meal. She seemed happy with her selection. All-in-all, Meridian is a great place to go prior to attending a show at Clowes Hall or any other night out."

"This was the second time in a week I'd been to Meridian which is one of my favorites. The beet appetizer and the crab cake appetizer were wonderful as was the bibb salad. Entrees were pretty good. I had the leg of lamb which was amazingly tender but the taste was not as good as I'd hoped for. My dinner companion had the duck which had changed dramatically from the last time I'd seen it ordered and I felt it was not as good. Nothing was bad, however and the service was spectacular. We had a great bottle of wine as well."

"I love this place. We were there on Tuesday to celebrate my wife's birthday with our youngest son and my wife's sister -- aside from the great service and delightful food that I've come to expect there, I was ASTONISHED that Jonathan (the waiter we had 5 months ago for our wedding anniversary dinner) not only remembered us, he remembered at precisely which table we had dined for our anniversary dinner!!! "We have been to Meridian before and chose to go there for Easter Sunday. We had a marvelous experience. I had the fried chicken and thought it was wonderful. That is quite a compliment coming from me because I make the best fried chicken! My husband had the bone in filet and it was the best thing ever. It was the best tasting beef I have ever eaten. We finished with a shared dish of apple crisp with ice cream which was dreamy! Meridian is consistently great and this meal lived up to expectations. Service was excellent."

"Our overall experience was just ok. Meridian is a great spot for us to entertain friends and business people or just to have a quick drink and a snack. However, we felt very rushed on Sunday. We tried to have a nice leisurely dinner with friends and our server kept asking if we were ready to order, even after we made it apparent that we wanted to take our time. The food was ok. The coffee was cold. And the staff made it very clear that they were ready to close the restaurant, even as we were finishing our coffee and dessert and waiting for the check. This was a very disappointing trip to what can be a great neighborhood place."

"Had a very enjoyable experience. Food, while a little pricey, was outstanding. Atmoshpere, reminiscent of a ski lodge, is sophisticated and romantic with the only negative being the noise factor. Understated, small bar when you walk in is a nice touch too."

"Love the quiet, intimate but busy bar area. The hot/cold salmon appetizer is worth a visit. Sarah, our server, was extremely attentive without being intrusive. Wednesday turned out to be half price bottles of wine under $100. Terrific! Will definitely suggest to everyone I know."

"We recently had lunch and it was great. The red wine risotto was delicious. We were there for a relaxing lunch on a day off from work, but it was full of people in business suits and attire. This made it a little stuffy for what we wanted that day, but it was still great."

"Very nice ambience and a pleasant change from the polished, bright, less personal restaurants off the Circle in Indy. Nice wine list, excellent seasonal (and "local organic") menu, knowlegeable wait staff. Very convenient to Butler University / Clowes Hall for the Indy Opera (which we also recommend (:) ) and any other programs. Do try it -- it was our first visit and we will definitely return."

"Amazing food! THis is the kind of "foodie restaurant" that I can handle because I can actually understand the menu. Everything was delicious especially the pork belly appetizer. Great martinis, good wine and beer list. My husband's steak was melt in your mouth perfection and my chilean sea bass had to be still swimming that morning it was so fresh. Excellent butterscotch brulee with bacon sprinkles. Good service and I think the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. I like that each dish was well portioned. We left feeling full, but not so full that it hurt. Free valet on weekends, beautiful decor."

"Bottom line for any restaurant is the food, and the food was excellent. We had a party of 4, two had fish, 1 had beef and I had venison special which was near perfect. All diners were very pleased. Attentive service. Wine list not extensive, but solid recommendation and a rare occurence, they negotiated on the wine price!"

"This was our first time there and were very please. The service was exceptional form everyone. Appreciate the valet parking and coat check. We were seated on time with prompt professional service. My Salmon was excellent and the Brussel Sprout recipe was out of this world. My wife's steak was good, however the "melt in your mouth" promise with the special of Kobe beef did fall a little short. Nothing disappointing though.
