"Great atmosphere with a good noise level - allowed for energy but also privacy. Decor was up market but casual. Didn't get to use the bar or the raw bar, but both looked fantastic. Service was a little slow to get our initial drinks order, and our time was limited, so we ordered everything at once, but it was handled beautifully with timing, and all the food was delicious (starter of wagyu meatballs, mains of Halibut (perfect portion, lovely flavors) and pasta (delicious but a little oily and huge size), sides of spinach and mash potato. Right price for the whole package - will recommend to friends and will come again."

"The menu is both standard and original, interesting, but not over the top and the wines are always good. The heated outdoor terrace with the bustle of Kenmore Square summons a Parisian cafe. Inside, the "train station" decor is successful but the exuberant noise of many diners and drinkers can be a problem."

"I was given a gift card to Eastern Standard for my birthday, and what a great birthday meal! The steak was excellent, the arugula salad w/parmesan was too. My husband had a fancy drink that he loved. Waitress was funny and attentive, and the other waiters brought out our food with a flourish. A great place to dine!"

"Excellent service and food. We were given a private room; very comfortable and roomy for eight. All the dishes were excellent and very fresh, especially the fish, oysters, shrimp and vegetables. The Polenta Cake and veggies entree was a standout. Especially enjoyed the Flat Iron Steak; done perfectly medium (not too rare) as ordered, very flavorful. Our server, a young woman named Erica, was especially attentive and helpful, really made our graduation party special."

"Eastern Standard is our go-to restaurant in the Fenway area, and always make reservations there prior to heading to a game at Fenway park. Eastern Standard has wonderful, scrumptious food. The flat iron steak is flavorful and delicious. The wine list is fantastic and server makes great suggestions based on your food selection and personal wine preferences. Servers are knowledgable, efficient and very friendly. Be prepared to spend a little, as prices are on the higher side--but food, drink and service are well worth the price. A fantastic overall experience."

Sandwich and fries was not a large serving, probably the correct amount health wise, but just do not expect a collosal burger etc. Also, onion soup was delcious but when it came to the table it did not look the onion soup I was expecting even though waitress made me think that is what I was ordering. But everything was delicious."

"Three friends of mine and myself went to Eastern Standard before a Sox game and had a very nice dinner. Cocktails were good and the food was as well. The cocktail shrimp has a consistency that hinted that they were at least on extremely cold ice before hand for a while or perhaps had been frozen. Not the best. Although the food was very good, the menu was somewhat limited. For a place at that level and price, I would expect a NY strip offering and a second seafood option other than salmon. Our waiter was very, very good, however, so that was nice. And the valet option for $30 was a real bonus so that we didn't have to park somewhere (for more money, probably $40) and walk there and then to the game. Over all I'd say check it out."

"After all the hype, I'm sad to say it just didn't live up to my expectations. The Standard bloody mary was good, very spicy but good. We shared the bread basket which was a basket of pastries, they were my favorite part of the meal. I had the smoked salmon, which was good. They provided the right amount of cream cheese, salmon and capers. My boyfriend had the pulled pork hash and found it lacked a sauce and thought there should have been 2 poached eggs rather than 1. My sister had the eggs benedict, and thought that there should be more hollandaise, and the spinach should have been wilted, rather than raw. The service was pretty slow. I'd go back for brunch again before a sox game, but wouldn't go out of my way to return."

"Four of us went to celebrate a birthday, and it was a great choice. They had a nice variety of wines at different price points to choose from, and we chose a reasonable bottle of Sancerre that was very nice. Three of us chose the striped sea bass and all of us loved it; the one person who chose flat iron steak was also very happy. The menu here isn't the most innovative in Boston, but we find this to be an always reliable place for a really good dinner."

"This is my fifth time at Eastern Standard. I really like the food and the place. However, you can sometimes get slow service. Additionally, our most recent visit was on a Sunday morning at 10 am, and there was no brunch menu! How is that possible!? Luckily one of their specials was french toast and they had eggs on the menu, but the food came out so quick and was lukewarm, so you could tell they just had a whole buffet of food pre-cooked to serve once ordered. We felt rushed out as we were not even offered the dessert menu or a second drink. I like the place, but it is not always a satisfying experience."

"This restaurant had a lot to offer, including a wonderful brunch menu, servers that made us feel like royalty, and a vibrant but still somehow intimate environment. The one complaint I had was that we made a reservation on Open Table for noon, and when we arrived right on time, we were told our table was due to be ready soon because the people at the table had just received their check. Unfortunately, it was nearly 20 minutes later that we were actually seated, and while that may have been O.K. given a busy Sunday brunch time, the fact that another couple was offered a table before us, though they were only on the waiting list for tables, we were a little annoyed. Otherwise, a great place."

"This is one of the best restaurants in the Boston area. You will not find this combination of service, warmth, attention to detail, and quality of food and wine anywhere else. This wait staff is simply the best in the city.
I've been to O Ya, Cleo, Uni, and other amazing restaurants in the city. The atmosphere created at those places just can't match ES for warmth. At ES, they make you feel special. "Great service, nd good food, though not stellar. The gnocchi in the lobster gnocchi were a little on the mushy side, and the pork porterhouse a bit too fatty. Phenomenal oysters, and striped bass. We actually came back for dinner the following night and had burgers and the said oysters. Still a great place to eat, and not as crazy a wait as some other top tier restaurants in Fenway."

"WAY TOO LOUD on a Saturday night if you want to talk to someone you like. It's nice that it's open late, but it's impossible to have a conversation. Our server was VERY strange. "What an experience - we enjoyed a savory appetizer of razor clams, bacon and lemon butter. Choosing the grilled tenderloin, with a blue cheese beignet, spinach and potato au gratin as an entree. All the flavors worked beautifully together, with each bite better than the next. To finish, we ordered the butterscotch bread pudding which was melt-in-your-mouth simply divine. Great service, versatile drink menu. Needless to say, we'll be back."

"I've been wanting to eat here for quite some time, and overall, I was disappointed. The fried calamari was somewhat chewy - edible, but not really enjoyable. The flat steak was not as tender as I would like. With so many great restaurant options in Boston, I cannot say that I would recommend Eastern Standard based on my experience, nor am I anxious to go there again soon. Not bad, but just okay."
