"Our 2nd time going, 1st time was Outstanding, so we went back for the ever so special Valentines Day. Even with DUE, more than ample, consideration toward it being Valentines Day, the service was ATROCIOUS, surrounding tables nearly cheered when we complained. The managed cited how busy they were, but really they were only at 40-70% capacity (we were there a long time). We felt like hostages for over 2 hours; the final nail was the arbitrary 17% gratuity, of course my pen took care of that. The managers solution was to "flag" our account so that the next time we would get something really special from the Chef -- that makes me VERY AFRAID to go back now -- not into spital.........in my food."

"It's my #1 choice when I want a steak or celebrating a special occasion... Celebrated my 18yr anniversary and ordered the couples 4 course Valentine's dinner...$95 couple? What a great price...Lobster pot pie with a petite filet mignon wrapped in bacon....mmmm do I need to say more?"

"This chef made the best sea bass we have ever tasted in our life. Perfectly prepared, rich tastes in a healthy meal. The lobster bisque was to die for and worth every calorie. We love how they serve various rolls from a basket with tongs and the servers were attentive to our every need. The Fallbrook Winery chardonney was crisp and complemented the seafood wonderfully."

"Food is excellent, however, portions are on the small side. Presentation is very well done. The service is great; the waitress was very knowledgeable and the bus boys kept our water glasses and breadbasket full. Very enjoyable evening. Would highly recommend the restaurant."

"Went here because of the great reviews. Was sadly disappointed. The food was great but the setting was all wrong. Black and Blue charges the same amount a fine steakhouse would, with the ambience of a low end restaurant. Everything about the decor screamed tacky casino, from the cloth padding on the seats to the horrible lighting that did nothing to set the dinning experience. To be a serious steakhouse and compete with the big boys (Donovons', Fleming's, Ruth Chris, etc.) they need a serious overhaul. Especially considering they are out of the way and just as expensive as the other places. I would not go back."

"I've eaten here twice and ordered the same (Salmon). On my third, I wanted to order the same and was actually looking forward to eating it. Unfortunately, I was told that they change the menu every six months. I hope they will bring back that salmon. The first time I ate it was last year's Valentines' Day. Food was good and service was a little bit slow this time. The place was full so understandable."

"Outstanding.....food, service, and ambiance. This restaurant is as good as any of the best in San Diego. Even though it's out of the way to get to (if you're not going to play at the wonderful casino), it's well worth it. If you have a special occasion coming up, give it a try, you won't be disappointed."

"As always, the food was outstanding!! Sometimes the service could be a bit quicker, but I think they time things to give people plenty of time to relax and enjoy a long dinner. When we go there, we aren't always laid back enough and not always ready to linger over dinner, but the food cannot be topped anywhere. They do amazing things with their menu"

"Fantastic meal and gambling afterward. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Cowboy steaks were best tasting steaks we've had in a very long time. Mac and Bleu Cheese side dish was unusual and delicious. Wife loved chocolate souffle. Nick provided top notch service. Enjoyed a drink at the bar beforehand and watched the game."

"This was my second time dining here. The first time, the experience was 5 star all around. This second time, 2 star. What a drastic change from our first visit. The food was "ok" but a notable difference from our first visit. The mixed drinks were not good or quality at all even when ordering premium liquors. We sent our drinks back - cost was too expensive to warrant poor quality. The most marked change was the service. It was "coffee shop" approach to service as well as demeanor and professionalism of wait staff. Very disappointing."
