""We have eaten at some of the best restaurants around the country. Rosewater gave us agreeably the best service we ever had. They were not stuffy or uptight, but they were friendly and even funny at times. They were always in sync and on point. Job well done. In addition, the food was superb. The setting is sleek and peaceful so we could concentrate on the food and each other.""

"I've had the opportunity to eat at Rosewater many times and the "food experience" has always been great. They also have a good selection of wines.

The odd time, service can be a little slow even though the restaurant is never full when I go."

"Rosewater is GREAT! Our server was extremely helpful explaining the individual dishes and accommodating our requests. The food is outstanding.
The service is attentive, but not intrusive. The staff is very efficient, and, best of all, everyone has personality! Our friends, visiting from Ottawa, were amazed and impressed. Another fantastic dining experience at the Rosewater."

"The food was good. The atmosphere is nice there. The bar is great. The service was less professional than other top restaurants in the city. Not bad, just not top notch - a little inexperienced. E.g. our sparkling water glasses were often overfilled so the water would get warm before we could finish it."

"Outstanding service and excellent food. We did have to wait a bit longer than usual for our entree, but that was our own fault. We had not finished our appetizers when they first brought the main course out, so they had to start from scratch. It was worth the wait! The space is amazing, with a lounge area at the front, and the main dining area at the back. It's a must see!"

"I have been to the Rosewater a few times before, and I'm not sure I will be back any time soon. The food was fine but overly salty, and it made me incredibly thirsty throughout the meal. Our server had no clue about anything on the menu. He said he was new, but the Rosewater should train their staff to at least know the beer list. He couldn't answer one question we had. Clearly, waiters need more training before they start. Food is overpriced for what you get."

"The Good: The food was delicious. I had the duo of lamb: cooked to perfection. The grilled sirloin could be cut with an ordinary table knife. The crab cake was also good and the rasberry, blackberry and orange sorbets were the perfect end to a meal. The coffee could use some improvement.

The staff were great: friendly, informative and quick.

The Bad: The noise however, verged on ruining the evening. We were there on Thursday: DJ night. The sound made it impossible to hear anything. Everyone had to shout to be heard, which made the room even noisier. Marble + DJ = headache. One of my dining companions just gave up on the conversation completely.

The Verdict: I will definitely be back, just never on a Thursday"

"Every Bite was better than the last, the waiters were very professional and kind. The atmosphere was as expected, the seating arrangements were simple but nice. "First visit during 2010 Winterlicious. Food was good but not exceptional in any way. I had the tuna, guest had the sirloin. Certainly worth a visit, but not at full price ( IMHO). If the meal wasnt a Prix fixee , it would have been a no go.

"My friend and I went to Rosewater Supper club for Winterlicious. We had been looking forward to going to this restaurant for a couple of years but this year we were able to get reservations. Maybe we had built it up too much in our heads because for both of us the appetizer and the food was just okay and a bit bland. The crab cake smelt fishy and was over done at parts and a bit big for the amount of sauce given. Dinners were okay again but nothing outstanding, my friend's beef was cooked perfectly but she didn't feel like it was as special as she hoped for, I had the chicken course, the butternut squash gnocchi was doughy to me and the chicken was okay. What saved the meal were the desserts which were fabulous. Overall it was okay."

"I brought my sister to Rosewater for her birthday lunch and we were both extremely impressed not only with the delicious meal but also the customer service. "This was my first experience at Rosewater. I didn't read very many reviews that were positive in regards to the food, but I thought it was great and the portions were big enough that I had to take some it home!! The butternut squash soup was oily in consistency, so I would definitely not recommend that but the salad was amazing. I loved it!! I also had the short ribs which was a large portion and tasted very nice. I had the apple crumble for dessert which I did enjoy but you can't have more than a few bites because it's very sweet. The service was outstanding which was a nice surprise because there were A LOT of people there for lunch and I was afraid that the service would suffer but it didn't. I would definitely go back!"

"A lovely upscale restaurant and all the food was very good, with occasional dishes being sublime (the crabcakes, sweet potato gnocchi, the beef duo). "We dined during Winterlicious (2 adults, one 15-year old) 2010. The room was great - a beautiful space; service was very good. The food however, was simply "OK". Two of us had the rare Ahi tuna and one had the duo of beef. While we realized that this was Winterlicious and expected smaller portions, one would still expect that the food would be preapred the same way as if on the regular menu.

The tuna was prepared as if it came from a long tenderloin-shaped piece of fish and then discs were sliced off of it. It was cooked all around the outside and had only a small circular bit in the middle that was rare. For the beef duo, the shank was very tender and flavourful but the steak was a real disappointment. Overdone and no flavour."

"my boyfriend and i enjoyed another romantic, leisurely dinner on jan 30 (our 2nd winterlicious). the service during our last visit wasn't the greatest (our waitress was a bit scattered and forgot about us), but this time our waiter far surpassed our expectations (and made up for the last time). he was courteous, prompt and very attentive - our wine glasses were never empty. our meals & accompanying wine were delicious and well-portioned. i had the crab cake, duo of beef and chocolate brioche bread pudding. my b/f had the butternut squash soup (to me, a bit thin in texture and taste), 1/2 chicken and apple tarte tatin. there was a busy, energetic vibe, but not overly noisy. we enjoyed the ambience and people watching from our cozy booth :-)"

"Service was slow. We had our aps and once they were cleared we waited quite a long time for the next course. If we had known the wait would be so long we would've asked for more bread.

The food wasn't at the level it should've been at for such a reputable restaurant. The steak was slightly over done, and the salmon was flavourless. I cook tastier salmon at home for a quarter of the price and all it takes is some lemon and salt so i'm not sure what went wrong here.

The server was nice however, but if i will not be going back unless i get another gift certifate - it is not worth the money."

"The food and service were very good. The only negative experience was the cold draft coming from the door to the area where we were seated. Being January, the change in temperature made the evening unpleasant.

My recommendation to anyone going here would be to get a table on the top floor or in the open area at the back of the restaurant. The area under the mezzanine would be undesirable on a cold winter night."

"dined there during winterlicious. the prix fixe menu looked great, but the quality of the food didn't live up to our (already tempered) expectations: flavours/temperature both mediocre.
overall disappointing, even at the promo price (35$/pp). unfortunately not an experience that will bring me back as a repeat customer. i must say however, that the bread pudding was very tasty."

"Winterlicious so it was so busy and our waiter was run off his feet. I was looking forward to a nice meal and it was good. We had wine and my partner had Surf & Turf not winterlicous was $60.00 for his meal so we were not only there for Winterlicous but it didn't matter - I think they were doing their best and weren't snobby or anything. If we were there for a special occasion I would be a bit miffed. Overall though good just not special."

"When we arrived at 6 pm on a Friday and we were greeted at the door by a woman who graciously took our coats without any pretentious air. We were quickly seated and were awed by the beautiful decor and the overall great vibe. Our waiter was full of knowledge and willing to share his picks without being overbearing, while the rest of the wait staff quietly filled our glasses and side plates with cool water and fluffy bread. Try the duck three ways and their take on the caprese salad. You won't be disappointed!"

"The dining room was quiet and the food was outstanding. (We had the tuna and the black cod entrees.) Despite only a few tables, however, the service was relatively inattentive and our glasses were completely empty before we were asked if we wanted another drink. The bar was full and noisy - a scene for singles or 30-something urbanites/beautiful people."

"I had a very nice dining experience at Rosewater. Surprisingly, the portions were quite substantial, which our waiter was kind enough to explain was in response to many people leaving hungry and wanting more. The salads were quite delicious, but the salmon didn't have a certain zing or defining quality which I would come back for. The menu is quite limiting to those who are vegetarian, with most fish dishes containing meat and in only some cases could be modified. I would probably go back for drinks and dessert, or their version of caprese salad--utterly delicious."
