Emeril's Delmonico
Located on the famed St. Charles street car line in the lower Garden District, Emeril’s Delmonico has been a New Orleans tradition since 1895. Today, Chef de Cuisine Anthony Scanio continues Chef Emeril Lagasse’s signature style of “New New Orleans” cuisine, while adding influences from the diverse cultures that helped shape the Creole tradition. On the menu, it’s not uncommon to find ingredients from the Caribbean islands, such as crisp plantains, along side more classic Creole dishes to create a wholly unique dining experience. You’ll find New Orleans originals, such as oysters Bienville and fresh fish meuniere, as well as new favorites—a chorizo-stuff pork loin, dry-aged duck breast, and of course, sumptuous, dry-aged steaks. Delmonico features nightly starters, soups, entrée, and dessert specials and a seasonally changing menu based on local and regionally available meats and produce.

"Service was slow, both wait staff and possibly the kitchen. There were only 2 other tables occupied when we got there, waited quite a while for waiter to take our order then food came out slow, my wife's fish was not warm. Food good otherwise."

"This was the first time I took my children and their spouses to Emeril's Delmonico for a very special occassion. The service and food were outstanding!. The atmosphere was very enjoyable. We opened the large shutters that looked down upon St. Charles Ave and enjoyed the passing of the street cars as we also enjoyed each other's company. All in all it was a magical evening we will all long remember."

"Food was very good. Meats and cheeses were tasty. Our party of 4 had a duck dish, shrimp dish, the mangrove snapper special and a steak . No one was complaining. Dessert was bananas foster, coffee beignets, and a cobbler. All very good. Service was excellent. Liked our waiter Lloyd and he did a good job pairing our meals with wine. Ate upstairs and room was very nice."

"I have dined at all of his New Orleans' restaurants and this is by far the lowest rated! The duck breast was tough and chewey, the hanger steak was likewise. I had a salad which was ok. FYI, I did dine at Emeril's when it first opened and he was in residence. This restaurant has continued to be excellent-not so Delmonico's.
Will not return as there are so many excellent places to dine in NO."

"The waiters were average. The food was mediocre. I thought being the original restaurant of Emeril's it would have great gumbo...not so much. We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary hoping to have a quiet romantic dinner. We were put in a corner without a view and had to listen to a loud bachelor party all dinner long."

"Having heard about this restaurant from so many, we were expecting a fabulous experience. Unfortunately our food was overlooked, poorly presented, extremely salty and totally unpalatable. My wife actually sent her dish back only to be served with equally horrific dish immediately afterward. I do not even think they cook their dishes fresh. The waiter was condescending and rude. Unusual for New Orleans, because everyone is so nice here. I guess I was expecting too much. However if the food was good, I would not have been so annoyed. Do not recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!"

"The restaurant experience altogether was absolutely awesome. But i do think that the seating could have been a bit managed better. We were seated as a couple in a room with two huge groups of cackling women with a bachelorette party. While i take nothing away from the women having a greAt time, it just kind of took from the romance a bit when the ladies could have had their own private sitting, or we could have been a little closer to the people who were there for the same reasons we were. But other than that this was one of my most enjoyable dining experiences."

"From the time we were met by the hostess until the time we left, the staff were excellent. Their energy and ability to be attentive were excellent. We had a 7:15pm reservation but arrived early. The hostess immediately checked us in, took us to the bar and said that it would be a few minutes wait. Fortunately for us, we only sat for a couple of minutes and we were wisked upstairs to a great room with so much ambiance. Our wait staff was excellent. Their recommendations were outstanding. Our menu consisted of an appetizer of sausage stuffed olives, entrees of the veal special of the night and a New York strip steak. All items were outstanding. We will definitely return when we visit New Orleans again."

"Our table was not in the main dinning room, but a room upstair with bare walls and no view. We had to walk through the kitchen, which was okay if we had a mini tour. This was a business meeting and customer was not impressed.
I ordered my duck medium (server promised it would be pink), but received very rare duck and had to be sent back.

"We were a large group and seated in a nearly private room. Chef provided a sample of appetizers, all wonderful, especially the charcouterie. Wines were ridicously priced (bottles for $2000, $3000) but we found some under $100 that were very good. The staff brought all of our dinners simultaneously, which was impressive, as were the well polished glasses. Our party had filet mignon, ribeye, lamb, pork, duck, drum (fish) and everyone raved about the quality of their food. The only downside were the desserts, which were disappointing (don't bother with the white chocolate bread pudding). We might have had more luck with the chocolate caramel tarte. Overall, this is the place to go if you want to impress someone. Pricey but worth it."

"We had five at our table. Three of us ordered the bone in Ribeye, Med Rare. All three steaks were cooked Med. It's a small thing, but for $50 per, it's expected to cook at the right temp. Since I was with European clients who were anxious to try Louisiana food, I didn't want to send the steaks back in front of them. Otherwise, the meal was delicious! The steak was still delicious too. I would go back."

"The food was excllent. The barbeque shrimp made my mouth water in between bites. All the sides were great, especially the collard greens. The wait staff were amazing but overworked. I couldn't take a sip of water w/o them refilling my glass each time.. "I have eaten here many times over the past years. It's best days are past. The menu is old, the food is boring, the service is mediocre and the decor is tattered. "Emeril's staff kept an eye on our table while not being too overbearing either. Water was always full & they would bring you a fresh warm dinner roll whenever you wanted. Food was excellent, we had some of the meat selections as a starter then both had fish dishes and their baked macaroni & cheese. They also made a great Long Island iced tea!"

"With it's impossibly elegant dining room to its impeccable service to its lovely presentations, Emeril's Delmonico is so brilliant that even though, as someone who is gluten intolerant and doesn't eat meat, there is almost nothing I can eat, it is nonetheless my favorite restaurant.
I've dined there many times, but this was the first time with a two year old toddler. Although she didn't appreciate the whole experience as much as I did, she did love climbing up and down the beautiful stairway, affording my wife and I the opportunity to alternate dining alone."

"I have eaten here several times recently and, for the most part, the food and ambiance have been great. Ate brunch here for Mother's Day and the service was great, but the food was underwhelming. I had a chorizo omlette that was bland and cold when it came out. I was very disappointed."

"The food was amazing and the service even better. Everyone was very friendly and service oriented. They were accomodating to some dietary restrictions of one guest. I do wish the steaks were not quite as large...they sounded amazing. I did settle for the beef carpacio instead which was perfectly seasoned. We were lucky because we made a last minute reservation and there was availability. As travelers to the City of New Orleans we look forward to trying another one of his places on a future trip."

"This was a Birthday dinner for my wife, we sat in the downstairs in earshot of the piano player in the bar. The food was excellent - we had the crawfish and corn soup, bbq shrimp and grits appetizer, bleu cheese iceburg salad, and both the filet and the strip were both cooked to order, very tender, and tasty. The side order of mac and cheese was a perfect complement. Great wine list and cocktails."

"Had reservations and arrived on time. Was seated in the bar until my table was ready. I noted that there were at least 5 tables open on the lower dining room where it was very quiet but my family and I were escorted to the upper dining room where the noise level was loud. Was not offered an explanation of why we were escorted to the upper dining room. A large group was dining and were very loud and many of the group were using profanity. I unfortunately had my 10 y/o with me. Not a child friendly experience. Dined at Emeril's New Orleans and had a better experience with my family. The food was excellent at both restaurants. Overpriced at Delmonicos. Would not be going back. Prefer Emeril's NO for better overall experience."
