"We love having Buona Sera in our neighborhood! When we have something to celebrate as a family, we'd so much rather go here than a chain in Maple Grove! Our kids are school-age and they are welcomed and don't feel out of place. They'll make smaller portions of some of the dishes for them. It's a little pricy (for us) to go to on a regular basis but our first choice when we want something special."

"The food was good but not exceptional. The service was good but not exceptional. The noise level was a little bit overwhelming at first but I attribute that to the restaurant being a small, cozy, and busy place. Overall the price was right and I would definitely go back."

"Great Italian restaurant with a local flair. We've been there twice now and both times we've had fabulous food. The specials, especially the walleye cakes, were amazing!
The restaurant ambiance has a quaint feel in a neighborhood setting. One of those places that always has great food and you can have a lot of fun at or a quiet romantic dinner if that's the mood you're up for."

"First, let me say our server was excellent and appeared truly embarrassed by the lousy food. Now, this is a chef that thinks so highly of himself that no requests for a modification to his dishes are accepted. I ordered the saltimbocca - normally does not come with mushrooms.... - but love the dish. When it arrives there are more mushrooms on the plate than everything else. Little piece of veal buried by mushrooms - as this plate would have barely qualified for an appetizer without all of the fungus. Also ordered the butternut squash ravioli - horribly undercooked and drowning in butter - also as dinner, 8 raviolis don't cut it for anybody. Will not ever go back."

"This was our 2nd time here. It was great the first time, and it was great this time. My wife had the pecan crusted salmon. She loved it. I had a few bites of it and it was mouth-watering. I had the shrimp scampi. It was very delicious, very well seasoned. They have a great tiramisu. We really love this place, and we will keep coming back."

"I really enjoy the atmosphere and that the owner, Raphael, comes around to greet his guests and check on your experience. He spent time helping my friend order her meal by finding out what she most liked and tweaking one of his dishes on the menu for her. We ordered walleye cakes as an appetizer and they were delicious and crispy on the outside and loaded with wonderful flavor. The scrumptious sauce really brought it all together. I ordered the special, Surf and Turf, and was very disappointed with the steak. It was a very lackluster piece of meat with no flavor and overcooked. The three jumbo shrimp, scampi style, were tasty and pleasing as usual.

"We have been to Buona Sera numerous times, and this is the first bad experience. The service was very poor, my food was very good, however my husband's was not, and the server was not available to send it back. We were seated next to a very noisy large group and had a hard time hearing each other speak. I would still recommend this restaurant in the hopes that this was a one-time bad experience."

"Our party of three ordered three different dishes and we were all happy with our choices. My brother ordered the veal saltimbocca and ate every bit of it. My husband had the penne pasta carbonara the pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce was very flavorful, as was the sauce on my filetto gorgonzola. The portions were very generous and the service was friendly and helpful. The city of Champlin is lucky to have such a great original restaurant, not a chain, in their midst."

"We've dined here several times before and have never been disappointed. Food is always fabulous and tasty. Everyone from the hostess to our waitress were exceptionally friendly and smiling!! The owner ever was taking the time to personally visit tables to ask about the food!! Ambience is romantic and cozy!! "Good food and service. Although the restaurant is a bit small inside (it's in a house), it's nicely decorated and has that neighborhood feel to it. Restaurant is also a sister to Luna Rossa in Stillwater. Prices are slightly on the high side for Italian restaurants, but the portion sizes are big - half of my spaghetti came home with me."

"This place is fantastic. One of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. Tilapia was done perfectly. Tortellini sauce was something very special. I wish I could have had a gallon of the seafood chowder. And if you like appetizers, make sure you order the walleye cakes. You get 2 large cakes per order but will want 6 more. If you haven't been there you are missing a very special place. The wine we ordered was very cold and really good."

"The server was wonderful but the food was just ok. My dish was horrible, a very soupy like red sauce with no flavor. The seafood tasted very fishy and other items seems to be "packaged", like you could go to the store and buy a frozen version of it. We will not be back."

"Parking is bad. No spots open at 8:15 on a Saturday night, when asked for suggestions they suggested the street, which is not possible because of traffic laws. It is loud. I knew this was the case but seriously, don't go here if you want to have a nice quiet conversation with your dinner date. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms (a past favorite of mine there) and it came out looking like a plate of lasagna. The recipe had clearly changed and wasn't nearly as good as it used to be. Plus the marinara sauce and all that cheese really took away from the flavor of the mushrooms and seasoning. The Salmon Al Catticore (?) was mediocre. Small for the price and not very good at all. Left me wanting to order something else. I won't be going back."

"Our Friends & I looked at your menu online and 2 of us had decided to order Fettuccine Seafood which was not on the menu and our waitress and the cooks could not figure out what dish it was. I do not see the dish our friend ended up ordering instead but it had said a light red sauce which it was not. The bruschetta in the past the bread was more toasted it was a little soggy. Our food was good but not what we had anticipated. Our friends ordered a bottle of wine and were satisfied. My husband ordered a beer and noticed it was non-alcoholic which he was not informed and not marked on the beer menu. I in the past have brought many of my friends to you but I was very disappointed and so were my friends. Each of our bills was over $80."

"The food, as always, was excellent. The servers are really friendly. We are, however, torn between amusement and annoyance that, once again, the bottle of wine we ordered from the wine list was not available. I can name eight times we've eaten here in the last nine years; of those, once was a wine dinner, and one time we didn't order a bottle, but for sure out of the other six times, on four of those occasions they've brought us a different bottle than what we asked for. I'm leaning towards amusement just because everything else is always so delicious. :}"

"It was my first time to this restaurant and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is quaint and did remind me of being back in an Italian kitchen in Florence. Service was great. Wine tasted good, they had good recommendations for a white and a red. It was a tough decision on the menu. My husband got the lobster ravioli which he had one other time. He didn't quite remember it being so soupy. Way too much cream sauce. Just wasteful if you ask me. But he said the flavor was good. He didn't think it was as good as the last time he had it months ago. I had the tortellini with peas and ham. Mine also had way too much sauce, the flavor was good, but it could have used more ham. I had 2 small pieces in my dish."
