Amanda's has been delighting customers for over 15 years. Guests enter our elegantly restored brownstones and are warmly welcomed by an accommodating staff. Although geographically close to Manhattan and certainly as culinary sophisticated, we're not slow to smile and truly aim to please each guest. Highly rated by the Zagat Guide for food, service and decor, we are proud to have been named #5 in the state for Most Popular Restaurant. Our popularity stems from the talents of our CIA-trained chef, Rodney Petersen, our dedication to warm, gracious service and the comfortable elegance of our dining rooms. Amanda's is the natural choice for so many occasions: the romantic couple on a "date to impress," a family brunch on Sunday or the place to enjoy pre-theater Early Dinner at a price that is really too good to believe. "The service at Amanda's is very warm. They offered to bring us drinks while we waited for the rest of our party in the lobby sitting area. The decor is very cozy but elegant. Brunch prices are extremely reasonable with prompt coffee refills. The bacon on the chicken, avocado, bacon sandwich was crisp and the crab in the crab has ample-sized pieces of sweet crabmeat. You could see the horseradish bits floating around in the bloody mary, which had a kick. I would definitely recommend Amanda's for brunch."

"The service was excellent and the chef was very accommodating. My daughter is vegan and he prepared her dish perfectly...not many restaurants are that understanding. It was my husband's birthday dinner and everything was wonderful. He was very happy with his meal and had a great evening."

"Absolutely perfect! Had dinner there with my mother on a busy Saturday night and the food, service and ambience were all top notch. Although I found the menu a bit limited (the wine list was much more extensive), everything was scrumptious."

"I felt like I was in a Victorian-era movie. All the separate rooms were beautifully decorated and quaint. There are a lot of tables squeezed into the space, but I didn't feel crowded. From start to finish, everything was perfect. We did the rest. week prix fix menu and it was delicious. Service was excellent - definitely fine dining status. I will def go back - love to try brunch."

"The food was very good and the service was poor. One person in our group requested eggs benedict with hard eggs and the dish was served with soft runny eggs. When she sent it back we waited almost ten minutes for a new dish to come out. It came without the fruit that had been on the first dish. When a waitress asked if we wanted to see dessert menus, we said yes and then waited about ten minutes for the menus to appear. After we finished our meal, once again we had an unusually long wait to get our bill. This was a very disappointing visit for those of us who had not been to Amanda's before. The people who had been to the restaurant previously said the service was much worse this time."

"I meant to go to Amanda's a year ago but wasn't able to make it. Finally went this year on February 13th and the first thing I realized was that you NEED reservations. Every table was full. I had the Baby Spinach salad with goat cheese which was a 4/5 stars and the Salmon (WOW). The salmon and steak entrées were both delicious. I will be sure not to wait a year to go back."

"My wife and I are regular vistors at Amanda's and have never had a bad experience. It is one of the highlights of Hoboken dining. The special Wine Lovers Dinner was incredible. All 5 courses were top notch and the wine pairings were right on. For an incredibly busy night, the staff was attentive, but we never felt rush, and as always, the restaraunt was lively but not noisy."

"I took my girlfriend here for our first Valentine's day. I read the reviews, and since the my girlfriend's name is Amanda, I thought this would be cute and the perfect place to surprise her with. Turned out even better than I thought. The service was so fast and everyone was so friendly. They took us to a more private room made up of only maybe 10 tables only for couples. The food came out maybe five minutes after we ordered it, and it was excellent. The amount is also perfect, not too much, not too little. The place was so romantic with dimmed lighting. After we left, we were talking about how perfect the night was and how this will definitely be our Valentine's Day, and any special occasion restaurant from now on. Thank you Amanda's!"

"We enjoyed our meal and menu offerred very good options for Valentines day price fix meal. I also enjoyed the wine list selection which offerred a number reasonable options as well. "First time dinning at Amanda's. Great food, friendly staff and very romantic place.
Definetely would go back, parking is a bit difficult to fid at night, but if you are willing to walk 3 blocks you are just fine.
I would recomend this fine restaurant to my friends, an nice experience or my girlfriend and me."

"The food was excellent! From appetizers of Creamy Polenta with a mushroom ragot (out of this world) and the beet and avocado salad (refreshing) to the entrees of cedar plank salmon (perfecrtly cooked with a nice accompaniment of candied fruit) and sea scallops (WOW!!) the meal was worth every penny! The wine list has plenty of selections and is VERY reasonably priced.

The small, cozy dining area made for a perfect setting. While all the tables were filled, we were able to carry on a conversation without shouting. The owners were seting guests and interacting to ensure satisfaction. We topped off the evening with a drink at the small bar in front of lit fireplace. Are we home or in a restaurant?? Bravo!"

"We went during restaurant week. Actually ordered from that menu. Everything was delicious. Normally when ordering from the restaurant week menu, the portions are somewhat smaller. Not the case here. We had the shrimp/grits, it was plentiful and yummy. Had the short ribs for entree and again more than ample and soooo delicious. Dessert is something that i normally do not order, but when in Rome. We all shared the warm choclate cake, key lime pie and the apple strudel. All in all it was a great evening."

"Absolutely fabulous restaurant - Having just moved to Hoboken we have been to Amanda's 4 times in the last 6 weeks and every time is excellent. "Dinner at Amanda's was a delight. Although a few menu items were unavailable, the substitutions were excellent. The mussels appetizer was enough for 4. All entrees were well prepared and delicious. The "recession priced" wine - $30 for a nice malbec - is a great incentive. It was an early Sunday evening so the place was quiet and relaxed. The waitstaff was very attentive in an unobtrusive way. Just a very pleasant experience."

"The New Year's Eve late dinner and party was spectacular. The set menu of 5 courses with five wines was inspired in its choices, preparation and presentation. The restaurant serves in serveral rooms of two combined rowhouses, which allows for larger or smaller parties, and in this case, for quiet dinner while also having live music and dancing available. The service was attentive. Open bar was included the fixed price, which had seemed a little high but found entirely worthwhile. An excellent experience."

"Our overall dining experience was good, but not great and definitely not worth the $65 + gratuity/beverages/tax price on the New Year's Eve prix fixe menu (our party of 6 ended up paying $93/person). The lobster bisque was fantastic, the entrees were pretty good (scallops were somewhat sandy), and the desserts were delicious. Amanda's is kid-friendly, however I'm not sure the ambiance it "gives off" should allow it to be - we had a child next to our table banging on the tabletop, crawling around the floor and also running which did put a damper on our experience."

"We hadn't been there in a while but we won't let that happen again. We wanted just a satisfactory meal to kick out family holiday off and got much more. The menu was inventive, the service attentive, the setting attractive and all for a very reasonable price. Every table in the restaurant was filled and now I understand why. "This is the second year in a row that we've gone to Amanda's for Thanksgiving (we've gone when there isn't a holiday as well0. And this is also the second year in a row where even though children under 12 eat for half price, when the bill came it reflected full price for my son, who is eleven (and was ten last year). Both times I had to bring it to the attention of our waiter to correct. While I'm not saying that this is deliberate, the fact is that when a child is close to the cut-off age there apparently is a tendency not to ask, but to presume full-price unless corrected by the guest. So, caveat emptor!
Other than this, the restaurant is quite lovely, with good food and ambience and a fair amount of charm."

"My boyfriend and i have always wanted to try dinner at Amanda's. We went with another couple for their early dinner where you must sit by 5:30. You order from a prix fixed menu, one that offers many options for any food fanatic. The ambiance is dimly lit victorian chic, with tarnished mirrored table tops and antique plate settings. I opted for the salad with golden raisons sonoma goat cheese and a balsamic glaze as my app, the others ordered the soup du jour which in the presentation alone would have been worth the $14 you pay for the entire meal.For dinner, paired w a bordeaux, i had the grouper which was fresh & cooked to perfection.Everyone was more than pleased with their experience.We recommend Amanda's to anyone with a taste for class"
