Glenwood Grill has been a Triangle favorite for 22 years. A popular neighborhood restaurant that serves Chef John Wright's innovative dishes in a classy yet comfortable atmosphere. Winner of Metro Magazine's "Best Power Lunch".
"Our food and service was superb. I didn't rate the noise level because we happened to get seated between two people who were quite full of themselves and I now know way more than I ever wanted to about them. :-) After they left, the atmosphere was very pleasant."

"Beet salad and She Crab Soup were great starters but my husband got the shrimp and grits and I got the crab cakes- neither of us were impressed with our entrees. Smaller portions, but higher price tag. The waiter seemed to try to push for us to order more items.
Won't be returning."

"One of Raleigh's original spots for great food (I think they have hit the 25 year mark at this point) but always with an updated menu, local seafood and seasonal sides, welcoming service and wonderful wine. Wish they could lower the noise level just a bit but I'm so busy enjoying my fabulous meal I don't mind it too much!"

"There is so much good going on for this restaurant: the food choices, the service, the look are all somewhere between very good & excellent. I particularly like it that the menu includes small plate options. As the evening goes on, human nature takes over, the noise level goes up. People talk a little bit louder, a little bit louder and then, it's loud. We retreated from the inside to the sidewalk and that worked for us. Much quieter outside & we were able to enjoy the last of our meal & time there. Thank you."

"Food was very good and service was excellent. While the noise level is a little high and always has been, you can still enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and company your with. A conversation is possible and the food makes up for a lot. The beet and goat cheese salad is excellent."

"I took my wife for her Birthday last week. this is not the place to take someone for a quite dinner, period. the place is so loud that it is hard to hear yourself let alone the person sitting close to you. in addition, our waiter was slow, not attentive, and could have cared less about making it a wonderful occasion. both my wife and I commented after that it will be the last time we dine there"

"Glenwood Grill is a hidden inside the beltline gem of NC dining. You would never suspect this small restaurant tucked away inside a strip mall next to a Harris Teeter grocery store would provide such a fine dining experience at such a reasonable price. The food was exceptional. The filet melts in your mouth and the catfish over pimento cheese grits and collards is a harmonic symphony of flavors that greatly exceeded my expectations. The dinner for two special for $50, available Mon-Thurs, which includes soup or salad, a delicious entree of which the filet is an available choice, a shared dessert and a bottle of wine has to be the best fine dining bargain I have run across in recent years."

"we love Glenwood Grill and would recommend it to anyone. As much as we love the full dinners, the small plate menu is always special and we can find so much to choose from. We like to get a few small plates and glasses or a bottle of wine. So much to choose from - fried green tomatoes, duck enchilada (yum), and the best fried oysters in Raleigh. Love it!"

"I have wanted to find a restaurant with exceptional food and service coupled with a local scene for a long time and I found it. I love the idea of small kitchens, serving small/ moderate sized dining rooms. You get a feeling that the chef is caring for every plate as it leaves the kitchen and every customer is valued and that really shines through. I live in jacksonville, NC but I will be making the drive back to Raleigh for this place. A+"

"Had we to do it over again, we would have had two orders of fried green tomatoes and no dessert. The dessert was very good but the tomatoes were better. Our entrees, tuna and filet mignon were delicious and pleasantly presented. Really fine service.."

"My husband and I have been searching for that special place to go to on our "Date Nights". Everything about Glenwood Grill was amazing... The service, the atmosphere, the menu, everything!!! Our server was named Caroline, and was she very knowledgable on Regarding the menu and helpful with suggestions based on our likes and dislikes. The executive chef even took time to come by our table so we could complement him on the food. We can't wait to go back! Because my husband is a chef and Sr kitchen manager himself, and his schedule is so crazy, we don't often get to go out like we would like to. We can't wait to go back!"

"5 of us planned to go to a comedy show at Charlie Goodnights's later but wanted a convenient, not too expensive dinner that offered a good variety, Glenwood Grill fit the bill. Even though 4 of us ordered seafood 1 ordered the duck enchilada . We made an event out of tasting each others dishes all were perfectly prepared and seasoned. Two of the girls are from Maryland and were skeptical about the crab cakes, they ordered them and were pleasantly surprised that it was mostly crab and very little breading! Needless to say we'll be back!"

"Since moving to the area 4 years ago, we had been searching for a nearby place for serious foodies, and we finally found that at Glenwood Grill. This is a small place in a strip mall with a warm comfy friendly neighborhood feel. The service is wonderful and not pretentious. The food is fabulous! I had the seafood and grits consisting of perfectly cooked shrimp, scallops & lump crab over grits with bacon, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes & corn - divine! My husband had the pan-seared grouper special served over crab and artichoke grits and topped with a micro greens salad. He loved it! We shared the chocolate bread pudding for dessert, which was terrific. Can't wait to go back to try several other dishes on the menu. Reservations are recommended."

"We had dinner here Saturday night. The service and food were outstanding. Perfect timing and so efficient and friendly. The mushroom bisque was absolutely delicious. Fried oysters came with my husband's filet mignon dinner and they were fabulous! I had the shrimp and grits and they were just how I like them. We didn't order dessert, so I can't comment other than to say that I am sure it is fantastic. Definitely a place we will visit again and recommend to friends."

"Can't say enough good thing about Glenwood Grille. The host was great when we came in and led ud right to our table. Apps were green tomatoes and pork belly. I'm sitting here getting hungry just thinking about it. Then my wife had shrimp and grits and I had seafood and grits. The creamiest grits ever and my seafood and grits had some blue cheese which added just the right touch. Dessert was creme brûlée and chocolate bread pudding. Creme brûlée was okay and bread pudding was AWESOME! For a great meal go try this place out!"

"This was our first time at Glenwood Grill and we loved it. We were seated immediately upon arriving. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal. The food was excellent and portions were perfect. The entire meal was wonderful, but for me, a chocoholic, the shining star was the Bailey's Chocolate Pie. So happy it's a 'regular' dessert offering. We'll definitely be back."

"Glenwood Grill is the ideal neighborhood restaurant, as long as your neighborhood is a bit upscale. It's relatively small, attractive but not flashy or ostentatious in decor and manner, and serves excellent food in a very professional manner. The wait staff was precise, worked as a team, and our waitress knew their menu well. The best dishes seem to be Southern inspired, but it's pretty wide ranging. For example, I had rare tuna with a crab risotto that was excellent. The she crab soup was very popular among those at our table who had it. The wine list isn't long, but it's well chosen and the prices are very fair. In short, the Glenwood Grill is a delightful place for a well prepared meal. Recommended."

"Glenwood Grill never disappoints. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is imaginative and delicious. My daughter had a Belgian waffle that came with fresh fruit and peach mascapone. Every bite was gone. The maple pepper bacon, pepper jack grits and sweet potato fries I had were superb. I have been for brunch, lunch and dinner, and I would recommend it for any of these times."

"I reserved a table for 7 people at 9 pm because our son was graduating from college that evening. Dining at that hour was very late for us, but our waiter made us feel right at home. We had a lovely table along the banquet with a great view of the room and the food was amazing! Thanks, Glenwood Grill, for making our evening so special!"

"Our party of six was seated in the corner booth/table. We were comfortable without being crowded. Questions regarding the menu offerings were promptly answered; my need for a gluten-free option was satisfied. Our waitperson made good recommendations for our wine selections. A bit of a wait for the bar drinks. We all chose fish or seafood entrees; these were attractively plated and expertly prepared. Two desserts were ordered, and proclaimed delicious. The service overall was excellent, and we will certainly return to the Glenwood Grill in the future."
