"Food, service and décor was amazing! My only complaint is the portion sizes. One of my favorite things about Indian cuisine is being able to order a few entrees and share family style with the table. There were 4 of us, we ordered 2 appetizers and 4 entrees expecting to be able to share. Half way through we had to place an order for a 5th entrée, we were all still hungry. Everything we ate was delicious but I would recommend ordering more then you think you need."

"The food was good, but didn't wow us. Not a very big menu and lacks a lot of the Indian must-haves. If you're looking for non-traditional lounge food in a trendy lounge setting, then this is a good place to go. If you are looking to fill an Indian craving, then perhaps look somewhere else.
Kudos to the management though. The food was quite slow, although we weren't in a rush nor were we concerned, so the manager gave us a gift card to apologige for the wait. Thank you Mango Shiva!"

"We went on a Tuesday night before the Holly Cole concert. Staff were very attentive, decor had a nice ambiance. There was a mix of couples and groups, all re having a good time. The veggie pakoras were great and we loved all 3 sauces - tamarind, mint and mango chutney. We ordered 2 vegetarian Curry bowls - Seasonal Vegetables in Vindaloo Curry and the Indian Street Style Mushroom Tofu Stir-fry, both with basmati rice. both were more fusion than Indian, but very good. We asked for seconds on the bottomless rice - didn't want to leave any sauce behind! Dessert was the Bollywood Sundae -

"Took a group of my colleagues to Mango Shiva for the lunch buffet and the food was excellent. Everyone was impressed by the variety of dishes and the flavour. However, it's much more expensive than other Indian buffets. Don't order a drink, just stick to water... a pop is $4! Service was a bit slow. We waited a very long time for them to bring around the credit/debit machine (was definitely more than 20 minutes)."

"This was our second trip to Mango Shiva and it was, again, fabulous. The food is amazing, you must try the samosas and lamb lollipops. If you are unsure on what to order, just tell your server and they are more than happy to put together a meal for you. Mango Shiva is definitely upscale Indian food, this is not your typical buffet-style Indian restaurant. Expect the unexpected and you will be extremely pleased."

"Mango Shiva is truly a first class modern Indian restaurant. I would rank it as good as Vij's in Vancouver which is constantly ranked among the best restaurants in Canada.
We went for dinner in late March. The interior during the evening is warm, inviting, and sexy with candles flickering throughout and beautiful chandeliers adorn the ceiling.
We shared their appetizer platter and then had the butter chicken for a main course. Every bite was a treat to the taste buds. The lamb popsicles were exquisite.
The plates are beautifully presented. The garlic naan accompanying the dinner was delicious. Mango Shiva is an experience not to be missed."

"Lovely food and great decor. Unfortunately we were seated in the front area close to the door, and were surrounded by customers lining up for tables for most of our meal which made for an overly noisy experience. It also made getting to the rear of the restaurant to the buffet difficult as we had to negotiate the line-up. We had to ask the waiting customers several times to close the restaurant door as it was being left open and therefore got very cold at our table. Overall, this is a great restaurant and obviously very popular. The food experience makes it worth the visit but perhaps the separate front area could instead be set up with seating for waiting customers? Next time I will request a table in the main area away from the door."

"Mango Shiva was the biggest surprise of my work week up in Calgary. My co-workers and i went here after i found the restaurant listed on yelp. The restaurant wasn't even on TripAdvisor's top listing for the Calgary area, but we were extremely surprised by the taste of food and also the setting inside the restaurant. The restaurant didn't look like much from outside, but when you walk inside it's a great atmosphere. The food was AMAZING!! One of my co-workers had traveled to Nepal before and said this food was almost as good. For me, this was the best Indian food places i've ever been to. The highlight of the evening was when my co-worker had mentioned a dessert he had in Nepal, Gulab, and the restaurant was serving it."

The decor was amazing, and food was very good - the only reason I couldn't give an outstanding was because the portion sizes were smaller than we all expected (for the price). "Mango Shiva is a beautiful and very stylish restaurant. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by their staff who were prompt and very friendly. The restaurant is well laid out and ambiance is friendly and positive. We both enjoyed every part of the meal except for our main dishes. We ordered their Calamari which was delightful. It was well presented and the curry sauce was flavorful.
I ordered the lamp shank while my girlfriend had a paneer dish. Once again the presentation was great and it came out very quickly. But, the food was very bland and lacked flavor. The best part was the rice, which is never a good thing.
Mango Shiva does a great job of service, decor, and atmosphere but the food was very bland on this night."

"We went to this restaurant early in order to be able to attend the theater. The place was 15% full when we arrived but quickly filled to 70% by the time we left. The service was fine and we were explained the menu in some detail. We decided to go vegetarian except that I ordered the mussels in a curry sauce as appetizer. Those mussels were fantastic and I would go back just to have them as main course. However,the main course which featured a vegetarian thali was also excellent: it included roasted eggplants, mustard seed and yogurt curry,lentils,achar, sweet pepper chutney, raita and basmati rice. The food might have been more spicy but was quite pleasant.

"We ordered the set menu for 4 (pick up) for $99.
Had to wait extra 20 minutes after time I was told to pick up.
Menu promised 4 different kinds of naan, but received only one piece cut into 4. Not as promised, and totally insufficient for four people. Menu also promised rice for four, but received only one small container, again totally insufficient for four people. All the food was cold save the rice and prawns upon opening. Some heat loss should be expected due to the 10 minute drive home, but not so much that the food was actually frigid.
As for the quality of food, aside from the temperature, it was good overall except we decided to cook the lamb meatballs some more on the stove due to their being bright red on the inside."

"While I normally love Mango Shiva, we waited for over half an hour before giving up and leaving, despite the fact that we had a reservation. The host was seating other people with reservations for time slots after us, and inviting other waiting guests to be seated at the bar or order from the drink menu. He essentially ignored us and proceeded to seat other guests, while we waited quietly at the front bench. It was supposed to be a special dinner for our first anniversary, so it was kind of disappointing. Maybe best not to go on a Saturday night?"

"We went to Mango Shiva for the Big Taste Calgary event, only to be told it wasn't on the day we booked! We were told they were short staffed and couldn't provide the special, however for more money we could have the buffet, so we left. The buffet wasn't much more in cost and were surprised that Mango Shiva didn't just offer it as a substitute since it was their inability to provide the Big Taste lunch. They had our phone number and email so also could have alerted us before hand that it wouldn't be provided."

"I have to admit I love Indian food, and this place knows how to make it. The spice levels are toned down (quite a bit) for my taste, but the lunch buffet menu offers a good variety and excellent quality.
On a different note, here is an interesting feedback about the place. That day we went for a Big Taste lunch, but the menu Mango Shiva offers for the Big Taste lunch is actually a breakfast menu. So we just went with the regular buffet lunch and were not disappointed. Additionally, I had a Big Taste dinner booked for tonight, but upon comparing the Big Taste menu with the regular dinner menu I realized that if I did not mention the Big Taste I would have paid less for the same dinner combination. So I cancelled the reservation."

"I have been to Mango Shiva a handful of times and have yet to be in any way disappointed. The food is consistently phenomenal and the service is always helpful and friendly. The potato naan bread is an amazing twist on an Indian classic and you won't find it almost anywhere else."

"One of the things that made this event really work for us was that Mango Shiva could be booked last minute through Open Table. It was a last minute thing and a bit of a logistical challenge. The online booking and sharing through email made it possible for us all to show up in the right place at the right time. Then we enjoyed the fabulous food!"
