La Tasca is a careful blend of everything that is good about Spain. Warm décor, authentic cuisine and friendly hospitality. All these go together to create a unique and genuine atmosphere. La Tasca has been described as being “so authentic that you won’t find anything better in Spain”.
"We went to La Tasca looking for a Spanish experience but left disapointed. The staff was very kind and the service was good. The food was ok but nothing to get excited. Some of the tapas lacked flavor and we could not find classic Spanish dishes like the tortilla española. But La Tasca failed in creating that Spain atmosphere, it needs more personality and worse of all was the music. They kept playing a latin dance music which may be in español but is not from España! Why not play some flamenco or some paso dobles? At the end I was annoyed by the salsa and bachata overdose.
Bottom line if you are looking for a trip to Spain in Rockville this is not the place. We didn't have drinks so I can't say anything about the happy hour or the bar."

"I went to La Tasca for mother's day brunch. It is a good erstaurant and I like their menu but the mother's day brunch was a bit dissapointing. The portions were smaller than their regular meals (which are small ialready since it is a tapas reastaurant:). Also, the promotion materials promised complimentary flowers for all moms but we were informed atthe end of our brunch that they do not offer flowers (server said he did not knwo the reason). Also, we were rushed to order because "they were busy" but there were plenty of empty tables. I like La Tasca in general but it may not be the best place for brunch."

"The food was good but it was hard to tell who ordered what. The food servers were not our waiter and were not sure what each dish was or were unable to articulate what the dishes were. The Sangria was very good."

"Music selection for the restaurant was more befitting a bar. The food was average as the meal itself missed one ingredient, the duck, in a paella we ordered. We did receive a free order of chorizo and our bill was still deducted a few dollars. Wait Staff seemed a bit disinterested, but I think I waitress was new. Overall it was still a pleasant experience."

"La Tasca had a special in April for "The Food of Spain" - excellent selection of the regional specialties from Spain. We have not tried items from the regular menu. Will go back again to try theregular selections."

"This would be one of my favorite restaurants in the Rockville area if it weren't so noisy. This past Sat. eve., I had an excellent meal there, but the noise was almost unbearable. We could not hear the waiter, he could not hear us, and we could not carry on conversation among ourselves at my table without shouting. I go back to La Tasca every few months in the hopes that management has fixed this problem, but after Sat's experience, I will not be going back for a long time."

"I will not visit this location anytime soon. My reservation was at 7 - and at precisely 7:45 pm. the hostess asked me to leave my table because she had another reservation coming. There were other tables free AND I was not lingering. I had not completed my meal. When I asked the hostess why she would ask me to leave ? She shrug her shoulders and simply said - I don't care stay as long as you like. This location smaller than the DC location, because it is smaller - should not serve rudeness, which it did. Was this a fluke ? I doubt it."

"This was our fourth time at the La Tasca since it's opening several years ago. The food has unfortunately gradually decreased in quality during the years, now to an unacceptable level to me. This last time was the worse - too greasy, too salty and lack of flavour. Even the salad and the grilled vegetables dishes were swimming on oil. The eggplant chips were extremely oily. It will be unlikely for us to return. Sorry for giving a negative review. On the positive side, the service and the ambiance are still good."

"Great spot for either happy hour, small-medium size groups. We had an anniversary dinner that was lovely. Highlights of our meal were the fried eggplant (cheese dipping sauce was fabulous), clams, shrimp, and artichokes rendolent with garlic, paellas are worth the wait. Excellent list of Spanish wines, regular wine list at reasonable prices, specials a great value. Decor very reminiscent of Spain."

"Was disappointed this time around. Some of the items were overcooked, others appeared to have sat somewhere for a while. Tapas are usually placed at a various time during the meal. All items arrived at the same time;"

"Very bad experience.. Yes we were late by 20min but that doesn't mean you should be illtreated.. I asked for a corner table as it was my husband birthday for a romantic dinner.. She gave us corner booth but near the door!
Once we sat. No one attended for 25min.. We literally had to call for help. The full bar menu was not shared.. As on request he shared.. Once we ordered the food.. The server spills a lil cocktail and don't bother to clean and just keep the food on it.
I would not recommend this place! Even though I mentioned in the spl request that it's my husband's birthday.. No spl treatment.. But we cud see the birthday celebration from the restaurant on the another table.
The only good thing was the dance floor after 11pm."

"Went for lunch with a party of six including two teens and ordered the Restaurant Week special of unlimited tapas for $20. Our waiter was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. He made sure the drinks were always filled and was there when it was time for us to order our next batch of tapas. I think we ordered at least half the menu and some of the items we ordered twice. I enjoyed everything that we ordered but especially loved the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese. Other favorites were the shrimp and the eggplant. Overall a very enjoyable afternoon catching up with friends."

"Took a party of 4 for lunch during restaurant week. All you can eat tapas for $20. Some dishes were particulary good, such as the bacon wrapped figs, croquettes and shrimp. Others were okay. Overally, this was a nice place and I would recommend."

"This was a hard review to rate. There were 4 of us for lunch. 3 of us enjoyed our meal. The 4th person ordered a chicken kebab and the chicken was half-cooked. Really inexcusable. The customer ordered something different, but the restaurant should then have offered her something extra, such as a free dish."

"The fried calamari was not crisp, but it was flavorful and perfectly tender. The mushrooms sauteed with garlic were delicious. Dates with blue cheese and bacon were exactly that, and pretty delicious. The garlic shrimp were excellent and perfectly cooked."

"This was our first experience as a result of Restaurant Week. We have been long time fans of tapas and Jaleo. We started with the Grilled Shrimp in oil and red pepper - outstanding Then we had the blue cheese filled dates wrapped in bacon - again outstanding. With the shrimp we had grilled bread with olive oil drizzle - very good but not worth the menu price for two slices. Then we had the fried eggplant slices with cheese sauce - the surprise hit of the meal. We finished with grilled lamb slices skewered with one apricot and bone in chicken grilled with potato wedges - both of these were disappointing. The lamb had some grizzle running through it and the chicken tasted like it had been previously cooked and then reheated."

"We went during Happy Hour and were very lucky to find a seat in the lounge area. We actually, plopped down on a very uncomfortable couch and shared a table with some ladies already seated on the other side of the table. Despite the very uncomfortable seating we had a fantastic time. Our server was attentive and polite. It was really crowded and he forgot to bring new glasses a few times but we survived. The empanadas were fantastic I had the vegetable and my best friend did the chicken. These are a MUST try. The beer battered shrimp was more of a let down but the Mango blackberry sangria made up for it. I would certainly recommend this spot, especially for HH."

"We had 5 tapas to share- bread brushed with garlic oil and melted cheese; potato with spicy marina sauce and garlic aioli; paella (small) ; Brussel sprouts with cheese, and scallop and shrimp wrapped in bacon broiled. Brussel sprouts were great; potatoes great -- anything tastes good with aoli and/or cheese. Marinara sauce had great spice-paella was very good. Bacon -scallop- shrimp was one skewer and I thought skimpy, though it was good. Service was good; helpful but not intrusive, only minor complaint was that we were seated next to window and with temps at 20 degrees and windy outside it was a bit chilly. However, we did not asked to be moved. We will return. Ambiance was warm, lively and setting at Rockville Town center is"

"La Tasca is becoming one of our regular dining spots. The small tapas dishes allow for a lot of variety and sharing, and are generally very good. Service is good, though some servers have been more attentive than others. Noise level is low enough to hold a conservation without having to raise voices."
