At 49 years old, Le Perigord features classic French cuisine in an elegant setting. Le Perigord just renovated the whole restaurant in 2011, don't forget to come in and take a look at our beautiful new decor. The New York Times calls it "a French restaurant the way French restaurants used to be;" complete with starched white linen tablecloths and exemplary service from wait staff in tuxedos. In addition to tableside service of Dover sole, duck a l'orange and rack of lamb, the traditional fare also includes such staples as individual beef Wellington, quenelles of pike, coquilles St Jacques and kidneys in mustard sauce, and don't forget to leave room for the fabulous soufflés and the legendary "temptation trolley" of desserts which always includes such timeless favorites as tarte Tatin, chocolate mousse and floating islands. The extensive, award-wining wine list includes a fine selection of both old & recent vintages, all at sensible prices.
"... Was the greeting that we received from the Captain the first time we had dinner at Le Perigord. I only wish that I had this kind of service at home, and that I could cook like that. I love Le Perigord. Very low key; great food."

"Great as always! we are already going back in a couple of weeks with friends. It's like home to us. George, the owner, always makes us feel very welcomed and his staff is very gracious and professional. Loved the vegetable tart and my filet was delicious. thank goodness there is still this elegant French menu available at this level in NYC."

"Grateful to have one high end classic French restaurant left. Why cant other restaurants offer Beef Wellington, Boeft Bourginon, Cocqillle St Jacques and the like on menus anymore. Plus Le Perigord does it with courtly service by seasoned wait staff who actually seemed to have made a career of it and are unobtrusive and professional. And this is not about endless noise and buzz; you actually go here to talk to the people at your table and hear what they say, rather than to be part of an overall buzz and din. This is a special place- quietly elegant, formal enough for a special occasion, yet not dauntingly so. May the owner live long and prosper so we can continue to enjoy this wonderful restaurant!"

"Saturday we were six people and everyone enjoyed their meal. The dessert cart is always a winner and the fact that you can have a conversation in normal tones is priceless. We go regularly and don't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place for a good meal and excellent service."

"Being out of the way means a great epicurean getaway. Dining the way it should be, but is so hard to find in today's hectic life style. Service was perfect, attentive, friendly and enthusiastic and the food fresh and innovative. When you think I need an enjoyable break, this is the place."

"Old world charm and Classic French service. Attentive waiters, who were not intrusive but treated all guests with great care. Perfect for a special occasion where people could really talk to each other and hear each other unlike many new trendy spots in Manhattan, where the noise level prohibits conversation. Food was excellent."

"If you favour a French cuisine the frog leg and venison are excellent dishes. Wine list is middle of the road and reasonably priced. Offer a fixed price four course meal that provides great value."

"Old school French, and old school guests, which is to say it is a bit stayed. The service is very good and the food is quite good if you are in the mood for old school French, but you have to be in the mood for this restaurant. I'll not run back, but I may go back for a rare visit. Its like and old, quaint Aunt who is about four decades out of date, but she just keeps hanging on."

"We have been here before and very much like this restaurant. However, this evening the service was extremely slow. A party was going on in a private room and this may have been the cause. They were even late in setting out their appitizer buffet. We did not appreciate the loud sound of ice being poured at close to 6pm in preparation for the buffet. This should have already been done in advance of the dinner group. Also, suppose we wanted to chose from the buffet? However, the food, as always, was excellent. Because of that, we will not cross them off our list and will return - however more likely for lunch rather than dinner. We have never had a problem at lunch."

"We went to Le Perigord with friends who share the same anniversary. Dining in the traditional and elegant way without the stuffiness. Georges makes everyone feel like a friend of the family. The food was exceptional as was the service. The wait staff's professionalism and demeanor is evidenced by the long years of service for all of them."

"We had a lovely Sunday evening dinner on a cold early spring night. As always, the food was very good to outstanding. Frogs legs needed more garlic. Excellent fish. Beef Wellington a hit. Superb classic desserts. Now in its 50th year in the same location, Le Perigord still rewards diners with fine food, wine and service. There are other newer, more popular, more expensive upscale NYC restaurants but we keep returning to Le Perigord every several months for a reliable enjoyable experience. It ranks high on our list of all time favorite NYC restaurants along with Four Seasons, Lutece and the Coach House."

"Probably the most traditional French restaurant in NYC, serving classical French food prepared on the highest level. My wife declared the Dover sole to be the best filet of fish she had ever eaten. Duck was succulent and perfectly roasted. Frogs legs provencal were meaty and meltingly tender on a bed of wonderful risotto. The dessert cart offers a wide array of delicious and skillfully prepared berry tarts and much, much more, including an ouef a la neige that should not be passed up. An altogether incomparable dining experience."

"Oh my god! I thought I was back in Paris. The warm bread, the wine (red) excellent. The escargots in hazelnut butter with wild mushrooms oh my god! The best. I also loved the veal with morrels, superb. The sauce was perfect. I asked the waiter to let me know about the raspberry tart because I wanted to marry that man so I could have one every day. The best tart I have ever had. Coffee = GREAT. I THINK I'LL HAVE TO GO AT LEAST twice a week. Forget about the money. The food was just too good to even think of how much the bill will be. Just eat and enjoy. You only have one life enjoy it at LE PERIGORD."

"The very best in classic French food. Duckling prepared table side, beef Wellington. Delicious dessert cart or souffles. Gracious service. The prix fixe is still only $65 and the portions are large."

"I have not been to The Perigord for some time ,but my wife wanted to go back . Upon our arrival there was no one to greet us (we watched every one coming in , in the same state of confusion) The service was rather cold ,we did not feel the warmth of the past which took us back there. My bisque was over salted. We spoke with our waiter only 4 times ,and no one thanks us for coming . Wil no longer recommend . It was a disappointment for so much money ."
