Social dining - spending time with friends and family - is what Gyu-Kaku (GEW-KAH-KOO) is all about. Gyu-Kaku offers the fun of ‘shared plates,’ inspiring laughter, conversation, and good times. You can’t help it – with a personal grill installed at every table, everyone instantly becomes an expert cook. The staff at Gyu-Kaku are friendly, leading you through the night with helpful suggestions. The sounds around you are of parties and laughter - the perfect choice for first dates, families, and catching up with friends. Gyu-Kaku, meaning "Horn of the Bull" in Japanese provides the authentic Japanese Yakiniku (barbeque) dining experience where our customers share premium cooked meats over a flaming charcoal grill while sipping on Japanese Sake, Shochu and frosty cold beers.
"We had noon reservations for 4 on Mother's Day. This is not the first time I have been to this location but it is the first time sitting at a table where you cook your own food and it was fun. The positive- Good meats, wonderful miso soup, loved the smores dessert idea. Negative- cramped table, very noisy, took a long time to get drinks. We had a party of 4 and shared the $39.95 meal for 2. It was a lot of food. We also got the tuna sushi appetizer (forgot the name) which was unfortunatly better the last time I ate in the bar area. All in all will be back . It was fun!"

"Mother's Day should be special . Waitress was very overwhelmed and we did not get what we order promptly . Usually a manager on the floor would check on tables or even another server if the waitress is busy . She kept on making excuses left and right . We did a lot of waiting game . As I see everyone around us being serve and had left . There were people who were there after us serve and left before us . Never got our grill changed Til later on . My wife was patient but disappointed . We are regulars and sad to say will not come back ."

"Great 1st time visit. Arrived 15 minutes early and was seated in 10 minutes. Waiter explained what we do, options of dishes, choice and beverages. As first timers we asked him for his reccomendations and he brought us wonderful drinks and outstanding food. Noise was conversational loud but didnt affect the experience. I will definitely be visiting again!"

"Great food, set up, and our waitress was awesome! Wish the tables all had dividers so you can feel like your in your own little room instead of having to endure the creepy looks and comments from the guys sitting at the table next to you. besides that theres nothing i would change!"

"When my friend and i first arrived at the restaurant, there were two girls just talking, looked at us, didn't greet us, and continued there conversation. Another hostess came by greeted us and asked us about our reservation and setted us kindly. Our server was really nice and the food and drinks were really good. My first time experience here was good, but greeting-wise, those two girls should either find another place of work so they can have a conversation rather than ignoring customers who just entered the restaurant waiting to be setted, especially since it wasn't busy."

"My friends and I both drove an hour, from opposite directions, to meet for lunch. We wanted a place to sit and chat and snack. This was the perfect place.
The waitress explained everything and we had a great time, cooking our own food, but that never got in the way of our time there - it was an added feature to make it memorable.
And, the prices were great, too!
When leaving, there was a line out the door......we understand why, now."

"This is a place you go for something different. The food isn't all that great but our service was amazing. Thank you Melissa. The booths make is very diffcult to sit there is VERY little space for you feet. I had to sit with my feet sideways the entire meal and I only wear a size 10.
The evening was fun because it was entertaining to cook you own meal. Some place I might only go to yearly. Little pricey for the quality.
I would go back again."

"I enjoyed the uniqueness of having the grill at our table. However, our fire was too high and by the time we learned how to lower the flame, some of our food was over cooked.
I'd rather someone else do the cooking when I go out to eat."

"My service was just okay, she never cleaned our doery plates from the table...so we were stuck looking at them throughout conversation. My chicken came out stone cold and has to be re ordered....they didn't even comp it...annoying."

"It wasn't as great as I remembered before. The food was ok. The vegetables came quite late. We basically had already eaten all of the meat. I enjoyed the quality of the food much better in the past."

"I made reservations for 4pm. I ran a little late, checked in 405pm. I was not seated till 438. Yes I was very irratated. Busy or not you think if you make a reservation and have a 15 min grace period you would get seated fast. Not the case. Our server was nice and the food is always great. I just hate having to wait. They just put me at the end of the seat list, which I did not appreciate."

"Gyu-kaku is amazing. It is something different from going out and dining with either friends or significant other. The staff there are very polite and make you feel welcome. I recommend gyu-kaku to all my friends and family that want to dine different from the ordinary."

"honestly before they got rid of the all you can eat menu the food was great but since they got rid of that they change the flavor and the meats were over marinated. Plus the charcoal briquettes were arranged improperly so only cooked on one side and the other side was warm enough to be a personal hand warmer. No where near enough to cook meat because of the of that ruined the experience. I could have dealt with the over marinated meat if the grill cooked properly. That ruined the experience for me as well as the other people I was with."

"I've been here many times before and always loved it, and still do. We introduced my 73 yr old grandma to Guy Kaku and she lived it too. Food was great, garlic noodles and garlic rice are always a treat. Just wish it wasn't as loud."

"Went there on a date and with her 3 year old daughter. We were a little worried about her touching the hot grill but other then that we both thought the place was great and would definetly go again. Her daughter enjoyed helping us grill the meat and making s'mores for dessert."

"Gyu-kaku is a large chain of "Yaki-Niku" restaurants in Japan which I have dined at many times. The one in Rancho Cucamonga is just like the ones in Japan. Service is slow and they definitely need to do a better job of training their waiting staff, as well as limit the number of tables one person handles. Food quality is good, but for the price, there are many Korean BBQ restaurants that have excellent quality meat, for far less money. Gyu-kaku has to step up or be left behind."

"The service was much slower then when I have been there in the past. Our food came out after a very long wait, which hasn't been my experience in the past. The food when it did come out was excellent and I was not disappointed. I will still go back, I think it was just so busy that night."

"We have been to this location four times now and each time the food gets a little less quality and a little less in serving size. The wait staff is very young and appears to be a bit inexperienced. Kimchi is used as a condiment on way to many dishes. The size of the meat and fish servings in shrinking and it is a loud indicator that their business is only surviving on an "All Day Happy Hour" and a multitude of discount coupons sent through the internet. It does not appear they will be around for the "Long Run"."

"The Gyu-Kaku in NYC is great...this one feels like a college hangout where the interest is in drinking and not eating...service was poor (scattered and confused staff) and food was mediorce--cuts of meat were only average....hard to believe that they ran out of white rice at 8pm on a sunday night!"

"I went to Gyu-Kaku in Rancho Cucamonga with a reservation I had made online for myself and two others. We got in and got a table without more than a moment of shuffling with menus. We got there right at the start of happy hour on a saturday, so naturally it was rather loud and somewhat difficult to hear my conversation over the ambient noise. Though the grill took a while to heat up (if yours isn't heating fast enough for your liking, let your waiter know. they can take off this metal skirt at the edge of the grill and your food will cook much faster.) but we got that sorted out and once we were cooking, the food was delicious! A great place to go for a small lunch, or for a large meal. Our waiter brought us free smores too!"
