"We have been to the restaurant a number of times and had all but decided not to come back. Food was great service was terrible. Thankfully could not find reservations for Mother's day so went here. Glad we did. Service vastly improved and food was excellent. So it is back on the return list."

"The food and service at the Ostra were great, but don't park at the hotel.
The Mokara Hotel & Spa advertises "complimentary" valet parking if you dine at Ostra, but don't let them see you take a walk on the riverwalk after dinner. We did, and when we returned we were told that since we left the property we would have to pay the $15.00 valet parking fee even though we spent $300.00 in their restauarnt. It's not about the $15.00, but the deceptive advertising. There are many other downtown SA restauarnts who validate your parking for the entire night in exchage for having dinner with them.
I'll dine elsewhere on my next trip to the riverwalk."

"Even though we live in San Antonio we had not been here before, it is a very nice spot on the river walk. The service was excelent, my wife tried the red snapper which she enjoyed a lot; the beef filet and lobster was outstanding. We got there early in the evening and enjoyed the serenity of ambiance. We will come back again. Thank you."

Did not have the fresh sweet flavor I'm used to at other good seafood restaurants, but was not bad. Great location. Good service - on the ball, and not overly hovering."

"But, service was unnesessarily slow and lackluster. I have been in food service for over ten years, and I have worked at a number of fine-dining restaurants, and it NEVER takes almost two hours for one appetizer and two entrees (which were ordered at the same time)to be delivered and consumed. We are also fast eaters. It took 10 minutes before we even had anyone greet us, and there were only two tables inside the dining room besides us, and one was a two top. The time spent at the restaurant ruined our other plans because we ran out of time to do them. The experience was definately NOT worth what I paid for the meal. 1 app + 2 entrees + 1 drink + 20% tip + tip for valet + slow, mediocre service = $125 and never coming back."

"Food & service were poor. This is our 8-9th visit over the last 8 yrs. the food ' service have steadily declined as the management has changed. We used to love going to "Pesca" at the Watermark hotel. Pleased every time & always thought of it for special occasions. Since becoming Ostra at Mokara, the quality has declined. We ate there with my Regional Manager last thurs night. The food was mediocre, service was poor and slow, there were 2 shrimp on appetizers that were complete mush & in edible and it took 4 tries to find a wine from their list because they were out of every one we asked for. Finally settled on he only Chardonnay they offered. One type of Chardonnay for a restaurant like this? Sorry probably won't be back"

"Initially turned us away because we did not have reservations, even though the restaurant was clearly empty. We made reservations via opentable a minute after we were turned away and were seated without an issue the very next minute. Gave us a bad start to the evening and very poor service to turn multiple groups of people away for not having reservations when they had many seats and staff available. The bartender didn't know how to make our drinks and we had to send them back twice. Our meal was good, but considering the overall experience would never go back again."

"A group of us were staying at the Mokara hotel for a spa weekend, so we enjoyed lunch & dinner here. Lunch on the rooftop was spectacular. The sandwiches were loaded with thick, deliciously roasted chicken, bacon, and heirloom tomatoes - hearty and delicious. Tres leches was divine and the mousse on top was heavenly.
Dinner was at a table directly on the Riverwalk. George took great care of us and even had the bartender make a special off-menu cucumber drink at the request of our birthday celebrant. The ladies that had it said they were superb. Although my beef short rib was a bit disappointing (I did not finish it, and it was a small portion,) the rest of the disnes were fantastic, especially the whole red snapper - gorgeous dish!"

"My wife and I were in San Antonio for a Valentine's weekend and had an outstanding experience at Ostra. We dined outside which was great for people watching right on the River Walk. The waiter was very helpful in explaining the menu and making suggestions. We both had fish dishes which exceeded our expectations. The crab meat appetizer was also great. We were kept warm by some unusual and beautiful heaters which created a wonderful ambience dining outside at this time of year. The food, wine, service, location and overall ambiance combined to make a fantastic evening the night we were there. Well worth the price."

"We had such a great experience on Valentines at Ostra. We were greated immediately and seated in a perfect location. We were given a free glass of champagne and the food was amazing! We are big oyster fans, and these were some of the best that we have had here in San Antonio. Our waiter was not too great but the food and ambiance made up for it. We have already decided to come back just to have drinks and oysters at the bar. Was a wonderful and memorable experience!"

"I had outside seating along the Riverwalk which was quite busy. I enjoyed the active nighttime, but I am a people watcher and was dining alone while on a work trip. The Red Snapper was wonderful and the waiter did the correct thing in warning me that it was the whole fish. The wine list was quite good and has a number of wines by the glass. I don't remember the dessert menu being strong, but I am writing this some days after the meal took place. I also did not venture inside to view that part of the resteraunt."

"I love eating at Ostra. When in downtown San Antonio Ostra fills my Wildfish need. Carrie makes the best margaritas while giving great attention to service, It's always good to find a nice restaurant bartender. Our waiter for the evening Christian, was excellent at tableside service and menu knowledge. He truly insured our night went great. When his fellow waiter Joseph would leave the patio door open increasing the cold air inside he was prompt to close the door and correct the situation. Even Joseph came to the table to apologize for letting the cold air in time after time. This place is great for oyster selections, fresh seafood and great culinary food. Don't forget about the free valet parking!!!"

"We sat outside which I would recommend to everyone who goes. It is located right on the River Walk but not pushed up close to the river where the walkers would be interupting your experience. The food is unique and well presented. The servers are well educated as to the preparation of the food and there sevice is second to none. Every server would call you by name."

"We've only been to a small number of restaurants on the Riverwalk, but this now one of our favorites for seafood. Richard and Melissa were very accomodating throughout the evening. We were seated outside, just a few feet from the river. It was somewhat chilly and the staff expedited getting a heater up and running. From the appetizers to the entrees, nothing was less than perfect. We weren't completely bombarded with Mariachi bands, but were entertained by one we really enjoyed. Excellent spot to start your evening as I always find it hard to park when I come downtown and don't prefer a garage unless it's my only option. Eat here and valet is taken care of, minus gratuity of course. Looking forward to coming back again soon!"

"Good scene on the River Walk. Looks like the nicest dining in a touristy area. Candace was a fantastic waitress and the chef de Cuisine came outside to check on us as he had a special order in our party.
All and all, highly recommended."
