"Took my mother here for early Mother's Day - could not have been better. Outstanding food, great service and a really nice, "happening" vibe to the whole place. Love the fact that the menu changes monthly."

"This was my second visit to Peasant Cookery. My first visit was flawless. Wonderful service and amazing food. This visit, very poor service, we had to go to the font to indicate we hadn't even been served water 10 minutes after arriving. Our food and drink orders were mixed up and our meal, although delicious, took almost 2.5 hours. We specifically chose to order salad and share appetizers as we had heard it often took a long time for the food to come out. Despite this, we were almost late for our evening event and if we hadn't asked for a "rush" at the beginning of the meal, I'm sure we would've been. Our service was so poor, even my spectacular first experience here won't bring me back anytime soon."

"Our server had to be reminded to bring vinegar for the fries, pepper for the oysters and milk for the coffee. The tuna was overlooked and smothered in a tapenade. Too much coverage for such a strong set of flavours . Fries tasted almost burnt. Maple tart and espresso were very good. Third time there were out of a my selection on the wine list. We usually go there before the ballet for a few years, but may have to try another resto."

"There was a glitch with my meal where they am out of the food I ordered. I found out about it when the rest of the 7 people were being served. They made it right in the end by comping my meal. Haven't had that happen there - usually excellent service."

"I really enjoyed the appetizer selections and the oysters were awesome as usual, but the entrees were not worth the hour wait. I would go back for wine and appetizers but not for entrees."

"An otherwise good room and location ruined by inept service. It's hard to imagine how it takes 40 minutes to prepare a hamburger and a pastrami sandwich when it was potentially the only order in the kitchen at the time. It's equally hard to understand how the server failed to notice when there were a total of perhaps 9 people on the restaurant. When lunch did arrive the sides accompanying the items ordered were incorrect, resulting in a further delay. If you don't have an entire afternoon, try Deer & Almond in the same neighborhood."

"Friendly professional service. Great food. Even though we all selected the daily lunch special our meals were somewhat slow to arrive. Good thing we were not on a tight timeline."

"It was my first time and I LOVED it! My son had been before and raved about it so we went Sunday for my daughters birthday. There were 4 of us and everyone will go back. Excellent job! Really enjoyed myself! Thank you!"

"We arrived early for our reservation and were seated within a few minutes. Host stated that he was going to move us since our original server was quite busy. After being seated we perused the drink and food menus for at least 10-15 min before anyone bothered to come and take an order. The food came with in a timely manner but upon completion of the main course our server paid no attention to us and did not offer a dessert menu. When she finally graced us with her presence it was too late to order anything since we had a show to get to. You would expect that an entire meal could be served and eaten within 1hr 45 min to 2 hrs. Apparently not here on this particular evening. The food was good by the way just an awful server."

"2 of us went for saturday night. I booked for 5:45 as we needed to be at an event for 8. The restaurant was full and I'd advise getting a reservation. We were seated at a comfy table for 2 with armchairs. The atmosphere is pleasant with large windows around the room. We both ended up having the $36 dine about winnipeg 3 course fixed menu. APPETIZER - Smoked pike ravioli with celery root puree, toasted walnuts and glazed snap peas MAIN - Roasted chicken with white cheddar and bacon grits, biscuit, grilled green onions and smoked paprika gravy DESSERT - Brioche banana bread pudding.
Enjoyed all three courses. My only complaint was I found the gravy on the main course to be a little too salty but that may have been personal taste and I did"

"With Winnipeg's restaurants having a price fix food celebration I took advantage of the special menu created for the occasion. This was a great choice. With great care the server took to explain how all of their meats are cured in house and how those.ingredients were included in the menu. It was an excellent reasonable sized three course meal. I have already bragged to my coworkers about how flavorful the meal was. I will be sure to go back."
