Jasper’s, located in Austin's premier shopping area, The Domain, is the concept of "Iron Chef America" winner Kent Rathbun, promises to deliver a unique array of tantalizing dishes and open your eyes to the world of “gourmet backyard cuisine.” Rathbun, a four-time James Beard Award nominee, wanted the Jasper’s menu to reflect a “home cooking” style with the best of America’s regional cuisine, including exceptional selections of rotisserie chicken, fish, prime steaks, salads and pizza.
"This was a last minute find that exceeded our expectations. The menu had many delicious choices with creative accompaniments. Our server William was attentive and a pleasure. My only ding is the music and noise level. You can create a hip, festive atmosphere without blaring music so that everyone doesn't have to shout across the table."

"Great food! Allen Bros steaks, phenomenal Mac &Cheese, Maytag blue cheese chips, walleye pike--I loved the homage to the Midwest foods I grew up with (KC, Chicago, Iowa and Minnesota)! Everything was wonderfully prepared, service was great. Our group included 20-somethings and a 90-year-old and everyone enjoyed the meal and atmosphere."

"Everything was great, set menu for Mother's Day but great choices to include a funky 17 year old. Service outstanding as well. Only draw back was traffic and parking in Domain but after that fight it was worth it."

"We went to Jasper's for mother's day. I love the neighborhood it is located in. The decor was modern and very pretty. They served a 3 course set menu. The calamari was fantastic as was the shrimp with grits. The second course was timed well most of the table ordered the ribs which were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. I ordered corned beef hash with a sunny side up egg and hollandaise sauce. The egg was undercooked, the white was still raw and the hollandaise was awful it tasted like melted butter and it was served cold. My daughter ordered macaroni & cheese and wouldn't eat it and it was cooked al dente and topped with a lot of pepper which isn't the best choice for kids. Service was very attentive and manager was very welcoming."

"We go to Jasper's often and have never had a bad experince either with the food or service. The food is very good and high quality. Definetly a place for a meat eater though. Wine list is good and cocktails though expensive are good. I like Old Fashioneds and the bar tenders know how to make them (no simple syrup, real sugar and muddling). Pretty loud on a busy night, but upscale atmosphere. Have a great private dinning room for large groups which is very nice as have hosted a party there before."

"While visiting family in the Austin area, we dined at Jasper's, over Mother's Day weekend. The scallops were seared to perfection, so tender and moist. The prime rib was "melt in your mouth" at medium rare, and all side dishes were yummy, too! Our server, Hunter, was very courteous and well-versed in their extensive menu. He offered wonderful suggestions, and helped to make our dining experience very enjoyable. Thank you, Hunter, and thank you Jasper's... you made a special day even more special! We'll definitely return to Jasper's when we're back in town."

"Jasper's has been the place me and my wife have gone over the last couple years to celebrate special events such as wedding anniversaries to New Years Eve. The best way to describe the experience is to say, no detail is overlooked and they excel in all categories.
Jasper's is not only a great place to celebrate, but also a recommended spot for business lunches or just to stop by and enjoy a few drinks. Extremely enjoyable place and I highly recommend going."

"It was my fiance's 40th birthday and we had a great experience with a table of 7. They printed special menus with "happy 40th birthday" at the top and the service was excellent. Their menu recommendations were spot on as well and we couldn't have felt more comfortable."

"Enjoyed the meal...mac n cheese is all it is hyped up to be...delish!!!! Had the rotisserie prime rib...tender and cooked to perfection. Raspberry-tini was notable. Waiter was very attentive, but not intrusive. Overall a great "date-night" experience."

"We have always enjoyed Jasper's....but PLEASE...why do we have to shout over loud music to have an enjoyable dinner conversation?? Please remember that we like to wine and dine....we don't go to an exclusive restaurant to have to shout over our meal. Everything else was great!! I'll give your establishment another chance."

"I chose to dine early one weekday evening. The restaurant was sparse but welcoming. I tried the grilled chicken with currants and blackberry sauce served with a spaghetti squash cake. The chicken was juicy but the size of the breast was that of an appetizer. The squash cake was served soggy from the sauce of the chicken which was disappointing since I choose this meal because of the squash cake. I also tried the chocolate dessert. It was interesting and tasty with various flavors (peanut butter, raspberry and chocolate) running through it. They also offer a lavender tea that was very good."

"very pleasantly surprised that we were given full-sized meals even though it was Restaurant Week. Food was hot, fresh and the service was great! We ordered onion rings as an appetizer, it could be a meal on its own! Highly recommend the baby back ribs and flat iron steak. Coffee and dessert completed the experience!"

"Price vs Quality vs Portion, will not be back and this was eating the restaurant week special. Main dish was great, but side dishes were marginal at best, over priced and extremely small. North, Jaspers, Eddy V's, Imperia and many others have much better cost vs quality than Jaspers."

"Went here during restaurant week and the food was awesome. We sat on the patio so the only downside was the loud music playing from somewhere else near by. Other than that the service was good and the menu offered a lot of variety. A little pricey but then I expected that going there."

"Thoroughly enjoyed food & service. Music choices & volume questionable as to matching the environment they are trying to convey, would have preferred a jazz or more mellow tempo to match the food vs a dance bar."

"Atmosphere was very nice and even though we were there for brunch, appeared to have a really nice bar area. But while expectations were high after experiences with the Jaspers in The Woodlands, our experience was actually quite disappointing. Service seemed rushed even though the place was half full, did not take the time to truly listen to what we were saying at the table. Would ask, "how is everything" and one person may answer but then the server would dart off even as someone else was trying to ask for something.
Food was very disappointing. 3 of the 4 of us at the table thought so. Was very dry, very bland, however you could tell they tried, but just couldn't prepare it well. Dessert was like rubber."

"We have eaten at Jaspers before so this was a return trip. The food was good, not outstanding, and our server was just OK. He messed up on my son's order however we didn't send it back because it took awhile to get there to begin with. The ambiance is nice, the martinis are satisfactory."

"We have always been fans of Jasper's, but once again, it is very inconsistent. Its dining room is great and comfortable in its understated elegance, and the menu is great. Again, service was mixed and food was mixed - some great, some good, some bad. Overcooked Prime Rib, dry and hard to eat. Appetizer chips with blue cheese were phenomenal. Flat bread was OK. As is common, they did not have a few items on the menu, and the wine which we ordered also was unavailable. This has happened to us in almost every ocassion at Jasper's. At the end of the day, it made me think about why we did not go back that often, and asked my wife to remind me this next time I suggested it again. The place should be much much better."

"Second time to eat here in about two weeks. Went back for the flat iron steak which was awesome two weeks ago. This time, good, but not delicious. Had no seasoning on it, which was what made it so delicious last time. The biscuits were heavenly and the seafood special was delicious. Consistancy is important, the shrimp and grits is alwasy fabulous."

"We booked our reservation at Jasper's to celebrate our wedding anniversary while we were in Austin. Our table was ready when we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated in a section with an excellent, knowledgeable and very friendly waiter (William), and presented with personalized menus that had been signed by the chef. Our meal was fantastic, the ambiance was great, and our anniversary dinner was a wonderful experience.
We wholeheartedly recommend Jasper's and will return on our next trip to Austin."

"Had another great meal at Jasper's. This time we wanted to eat light so we ordered salads and appetizers. The salads were dressed in a light vinegarette and topped with just the right amount of a creamy blue cheese and toasted pecans. I had the shrimp and grits and hubby had the crab cakes. Both had fantastic sauces. The favors melded and were not overpowered. Deserts are not to be missed here. Service was attentive but not disruptive to our conversation."

"Excellent food, First time we have had Calamari fried in rice flower and it is so much better than other batters. Pork Ribs were cooked to perfection and the wood fired Ribeye was out of this world. Impeccible service from waitstaff. Only reason I did not give them a better rating was that the music was turned up so loud that you could not carry on a normal conversation without almost shouting."

"First,I was disappointed from the start. We had reservation and still had to wait as we watched others who had reservations pass us by being seated immediately. Second, the food was ok, but definitely not worth$65 per person. Third, the waiter raved about how he taught bartending lessons on the side but could not make a good drink."

"Went for Valentines Day and the menu was good. The crab cakes and flautas were very good. The second course the gumbo was good but very spicy. The Lobster bisque was tasty but very watery. The filet mignon was delicious. Desert was a bit disappointing the white chocolate cheesecake was a little odd with the basil taste. The butterfinger creme brulee was just creme brulee and nothing exciting. It didn't even have the "homemade" butterfinger as promised guess they ran out. The wine we ordered was fantastic. Overall it was a good and it was an enjoyable evening."

"Went there for the first time for a special valentine's dinner a few days after Valentines day and took my in-laws that were in town. We were all nervous at first since we hadn't been there and really wanted to impress them and I have to say we were all impressed. The food was excellent, it was nice and quiet so we could talk, the restaurant was beautiful and was in a great location, but our waiter seemed over-booked since we had to keep calling him over for more drinks/water, food/dessert, the bill, etc. But it was a great experience and we will definitely recommend and go back!!"

"Valentine dinner at Jasper's in the Domain should have been a win. Serving a 4-course meal from a limited menu, I expected the food to be superb. Instead we got a spread of good to bad. My meal: Taquitos (wonderful), Lobster Bisque (average), Scallops & Grits (scallops underdone for my taste, but tasty), and Chocolate Mousse (good taste, but visually unappealing). My Wife's meal: Pork Belly (excellent), Salad (good), Truffel & Lobster Risotto (awful: the flavors were not balanced-the truffel was so overpowering that you couldn't taste anything else), Cherry Lime Pie (fail: they ran out, so they served her a small bowl of unripe strawberries (unannounced-she sent it back), then a slice of strawberry cheesecake (which tasted like salsa)."

"The lobster bisque is inedible, the specialty drinks are either crass and complicated or entirely unremarkable, my date had to ask for ice water twice, the wait staff dropped a glass. These are minor quibbles but at a $200 dinner for two, I'd expect a restaurant to come out with their instrument tuned and ready to play.
But what they do right they do -very- right. I've had a steak at every place that serves it in Austin and Jasper's is the best. I've also seen restaurants try and gussy up macaroni and cheese and it just comes off silly but again Jasper's just nails it, it tastes like a childhood hero reprising his role. The ambiance is smooth and sultry. If you're in the Domain and need a moment, you won't be disappointed."

"We have always really liked Jasper's, especially for special occasions. I made the reservations over two weeks in advance. To accomodate more guests on the holiday they put us in a dark meeting room instead of the open restaurant which also had a loud bass sound system,,thumping. I love prime rib and have had it at Jasper's before. I ordered it medium. I got an over-cooked and very tough piece of meat and only ate half of it. Because of the Valentine's day I didn't want to cause a up roar at the meal with my wife of 55 years so I endured the situation. The meat was so tough that the plate would slide when I tried to cut it with a steak knife. I've had comments from family and friends about what "I should have done"."

"The menu of choices is small, but each of those items is very good. I've had them all as Jasper's is a great staple in my dining out venues. If none of the special items fit you, the Allen Brother's steaks are a safe down the middle fo the fairway selection. The great selection of amazing side dishes at Jasper's is enough to keep you coming back n back n back. Don't be a snob and skip the Mac n Cheese, no person should pass from this earth without tasting a lil heaven here first. All the others are grand as well, and very large so bring a friend and share."
