"It is one of few places one can enjoy the food and the place at the same time. My family and I have been there couple of times especially when we want to have a relaxing dinner. This time we went to celebrate my daughter's graduation because it is the place for such event. Everything was fine to the limit we were looking for except the prices... too expensive. ."

"Hadn't been to the Charthouse in years and was reminded why. Great view. Good ambience. Decent service. Terrible food for the price. Food was warm, not hot. Food quality was mediocre at best and poor at worst. WAY over priced for the quality of food. $7.50 for a tiny cup of clam chowder??? Much better culinary experience in other restaurant and food carts around town. You go for the view and not the food."

"We had the three course meal for $29.00. The clam chowder soup and the key lime pie were excellent. The shrimp dish and the red snapper were very good. However, the third selection in the list of main dishes, the meat, was not good at all. During special deals like this they should serve only really great food, in order to get people to come back again. The view is superb."

"I love the view and ambience of the restaurant. The sirloin steak was flavorful but very tough and the baked potato was over cooked. Prices are high, great place to go for drinks or dessert. Their Mud Pie is a delight! My companion had the red snapper which was very average. Green beans were overcooked and had too much butter."

"Been wanting to come here for years and we finally made it up. We were not disappointed. The view was amazing and the food was pretty good too. The food had great flavor and was very enjoyable. One nice touch that surprised me, my husband and I both wore black pants and when the hostess seated us, she gave us black napkins and took the white ones off the table so we wouldn't get "lint" on our pants. Nice little extra thought."

"We all had the Portland Dining Month special & it was okay. I had the snapper fish & fish was bland and had no taste. It didn't taste fresh. Meal was nothing to write about & probably will not go there again unless just to have a drink & enjoy the view. It did have amazing views!"

I had the king salmon and my husband had the scallops (I'm very picky about how scallops are prepared and if I had known how great Chart House did them, may have ordered for myself - worked great anyway because my husband shared!)

"My first visit to the Chart House was to celebrate our 37th anniversary. I had remembered hearing that it was very good, so I came in with high expectations. Even those high expectations were exceeded. We had King Estate pinot gris which was very good. I had a chopped salad. That sounds boring, but it was much better than that. My wife pointed out the New Wave Surf and Turf. I had skipped over it because steak and fish usually doesn't interest me. However, *this* was ribs and scallops! Two things that I love. Both were very good. The sauce served with the ribs was as good as any I had ever had. The scallops were prepared perfectly with a sauce that included a bit of wasabi. This is the best restaurant I have been to in the Portland area."

"For the first time I was disappointed in my food. I cannot speak for others in our party, but my Filet was very dry, not nearly as tender as I remember from past visits, and the house salad was awful. WAY TOO many red onions. I tasted them all throught the night."

"My best friend was in town for the long weekend. I wanted to treat her to something nice, something different. I hadn't been to The Chart House yet. Food was excellent! Our server was a little slow (we thought she was picking and squeezing the oranges herself). Overall, it was a fun place to try out. The view was fantastic. We stopped eating dinner there because there are just too many good dining options in Portland to spend that much on mediocre dishes, but thought we'd try brunch because the prices looked reasonable and there was no wait. Totally let down, once again. The chicken in my Cobb salad was dry and inedible. The hollandaise sauce was over-lemony yet still lacked zing and tasted flat. Pancakes, actually weren't that bad, but $13. Chart House is also VERY corporate, distractingly so. Before we even placed our drink order we were asked if we'd like the Chocolate lava cake. For brunch? Then we were asked to join their club. Uh, NO."

"Six of us went to the Chart House for Mother's Day and all of us were disappointed in the food. The views are great and the staff fabulous. But the food was bland and tasteless. Not a good value as prices were high but the food mediocre. I won't be back again unless they improve the quality of the food. A major disappointment for every one which was sad as we had been looking forward to an evening of fine dining."

"Seated promptly on arrival. Our elevated table gave us fantastic views of the river valley, city & Mount Hood. Server was friendly, personable & funny. Our meals were all excellent & we left full & satisfied.

"We went to the Charthouse for Mother's Day brunch. The menu was extremely limited without even a pancake/waffle option. Most items were savory and a but heavy for the day. No fruit even for a garish. I ended up ordering a cinnamon roll after we insisted breakfast because I saw one on the next table. We have gone there several times, for dinner and happy hour, but this time we felt rushed. Knowing it was a holiday, we made an early reservation, to not get caught in the main crowd. Overall, just okay, this time around."

"The steak was a bit over cooked and our left overs were tossed out instead of boxed up. The waiter did a great job of replacing our left overs. The view was great, it was prom night so it was a bit loud. Unfortunately we were asked if we were having a special occasion and when asked this before on open table we were welcomed and thanked for celebrating with a previous restaurant, this restaurant did not and with our food overcooked we will likely pass on this restaurant. The food was also a bit pricy. On a good note the waiter was pretty good. We thought he was pushing us through the salad but he must have been checking on us to see when to put our food order in so it was ready when we were done."

"So I was taking my daughter,(age 40,2kids, who had just finished all her BScience classes an was accepted into nursing school), out for a congratulatory lunch. Our waitress was wonderful but there was a long 15-20 min wait after we finished each course. All the food was delicious except for my salmon Caesar....you could barely taste any Caesar flavor....minimal Parmesan....and 3 croutons. The salad was wilted and looked like it had been tossed early that morning. Very disappointing. My daughter's selections were everything I had hoped for and she felt pampered."

"My fiancé and I met another couple at the Chart House recently for brunch and it was great. On a clear, sunny day the scenic vista from the Chart House viewpoint is both stunning and beautiful. "The setting is superb, overlooking the Willamette River from high on the hillside. The service was excellent, prompt, personable, but never intrusive (Trisha did a fine job taking care of us!) the drinks were handsome pours but the prices were commensurate, the meals were a mixed bag. Someone in the kitchen has learned how to cook fish very nicely, the two salmon meals were excellent and the tilapia was good as well. Sides were uninspired, asparagus was the size of small trees and tough. And the salmon evidently had to pay first class air fare to get to Portland from Alaska! The place is pricey! We come here on very special occasions and have come to expect we will continue to pay premium prices for a wonderful view and pretty good food."
