"Our Birthday celebration dinner was on a week night. We had a great view of San Diego Bay. Our food was outstanding along with the service. It was romantic and quiet for almost all of the time. Then we had a party of ten business men at a table that was originally a table for four, changed to ten. They were very noisy. Luckily we had finished our dinner."

"We went to peohe's for Mother's Day. Obviously it was busy as a desired, nice restaurant. But we were treated as if we should have been grateful for getting a table. Service was slow and ambivalent. Food was served room temp (when it should have been hot). Next time we will go somewhere that wants to make a special occasion nice."

"Once again, I brought my relatives from Germany as well as my son and his wife, to dine at Peohe's. We had a window seat and the view was spectacular! Our server, Chris, was the best we have ever experienced there. He was friendly, accommodating and extremely efficient. We were so pleased, because along with the good food and drinks, the server can make or break an enjoyable time. He deserves Kudos! We keep coming back because the food is so good, fresh and beautifully presented. A favorite is the coconut shrimp dish; my son loves the calamari appetizer and the fish tacos. I always get the Peohe's salad. This time, however, the salad was a little limp and not cold. That is rare so I didn't say anything. Everything else was great!"

"Second time at Poehe's. Food is great, staff is friendly; actually a bit too friendly in the sense that they sound completely scripted, coming from previously being in service industry I know what it's like. It wasn't just out waiter it was every single person in there we interacted with. However, even though I don't enjoy the 'brown nosing' friendly, everyone did their job perfectly, and couldn't have done better.
The only strange thing is that my appetizer of calamari strips was about twice as much food as my $30 entree. It could have been the two big rum Volcano's playing tricks on me.

Will visit again surely."

"The food is mediocre but pricey. But we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation to be seated. After seated, it was another 50 minutes for the food to arrive. The waiter that brought the food over literally dropped the plates down in front of us. We ordered dessert lava cake ahead of time so we couldn't cancel it. When it arrived, it of course fell apart enroute.

Our conclusion? This is a restaurant in need of a Gordon Ramsey rescue!!!"

"Nice food, atmosphere and view. Like most restaurants stay away on Mothers Day. Was seated approx 20 min after reservation time. Took an hour to get our meal. Although after we had ordered and had been waiting awhile I over heard another waiter telling his guest that there would be approx 40 min wait to receive food after order was taken. I wish ours would have done the same so we could have known what to expect. The experience was mostly positive, it was just a long wait."

"Peohe's has always been our favorite for Mother's Day .We were seated an hour after our reservation because of the large crowd, which was fine. Our waitress, Jaime wished me a happy Mother's Day. I cheerfully wished her the same. She showed us her daughter's picture and proceeded to refute my wish. She resembled someone who had just died, not like she had chosen to work. I noticed she was the same downer to all the families near us. She put quite the damper on our celebration.

The menu was a special brunch menu. The halibut was a tad under cooked. The egg dishes were OK not great. We also added a Caesar salad which was down right bad. We love this place but will probably steer clear of it on holidays!"

"We came here for Mother's Day brunch. I understand how holidays and special occasions are crazy in most restaurants- but I would expect that Peohe's be better prepared for Mother's Day. Even with our reservation we had to wait over 30 minutes. The hostesses did not communicate with us about how they would get in touch with us. After getting a drink in the bar, we notified the hostesses numerous times where we were seated so we wouldn't get skipped over. We did get a beautiful table overlooking the water which was the highlight of our dining experience. The food was INSANELY overpriced for Mother's Day lunch. We actually looked up the regular lunch menu while we were dining and were disappointed to find how much they increased the prices."

"We went to Peohe's for Mother'sDay, 1pm, so it was obviously a busy time. I expected that. But apparently, Peohe's management didn't. They seemed completely understaffed and overwhelmed. What, did Mother's Day sneak up on them? The waiting area was packed, there were dozens of people waiting outside the front doors. We wanted a drink, but the tiny bar was packed so the hostess seated us in the unstaffed and closed sushi bar. After watching about a dozen servers walk by, each one avoiding eye contact, I ventured to the bar to try and get drinks. They had two bartenders! Once we were seated, the brunch menu was small, but reasonably priced. We ordered the seafood fritata, which was actually quiche. It was mediocre. Peohe's can do better."

"On Mother's Day they were understaffed and overwhelmed. We were seated an hour after our reservation with no apology and really no acknowledgement. There was a bar area but the tables and chairs had been moved out and it looked like a halfway. No wait service there, and the two bartenders were in the weeds so you couldn't get a drink from them either. After we were seated we were told the kitchen was 45 minutes behind so we better order soon. Appetizers were good. When the meals showed up they were mostly cold, but our waiter went missing for a while ago only one in our party was up to returning theirs.

"We went to Peohe's for Mother's Day and I booked the table several weeks in advance. They were about 1/2 hr. behind getting us seated, and then recommended appetizers just so we would not have to wait so long for our food, which ended up being a very long wait. I got the tuna salad which was very bland. I feel like they took too many reservations and could not handle the volume. Not my favorite dining experience at all. I imagine it might be better on a regular day. We won't be back for a special event. Too many other great restaurants that can handle it better."

"The place was packed and even with reservation we waited 45 min past our reserved time. Once seated we waited another 20 min to order our food. Our food was burnt and bland. The menu was very expensive and not at all what we expected. The waiter messed up our order several times and was obviously upset when we pointed it out. We will never return."

"Second visit to Peohe's. Was busier than our first time, and perhaps not as magical. Service was good, but towards the end of our visit, could feel that they were trying to get us out for the next group, so we felt slightly rushed. Had an obstructed view of the city, but was lovely, none-the-less.

"This is a favorite spot for my wife and me. We usually go at night, when the San Diego city lights go up. Great views, and the dinner is great. However, our recent lunch experience wasn't the best. We were seated in the patio area (still indoors) but were seated next to the door that leads to the outdoor area. We requested to be seated away from the door, but those tables were reserved for a party. That's fine, except that I had to get up and close the door several times, as smokers were constantly right outside the door. The restaurant should really have a designated place for smokers...i.e. on the patio but away from entrances. For that, I had to give the overall experience three stars."

"Here's the deal...ran out of crab legs and didn't inform us until after the orders were placed and drinks served. The outdoor heater rained down ash onto our table forcing us to ask to have the plates, drinks, flatware and linens changed. Very slow service and lack of follow up when we asked for condiments. I spent too much money for food that I could've ordered at Outback Steakhouse. There are better places to eat and enjoy the view in San Diego."

"we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and the table was wating for us. Let me remark that I reserved several days before because I wanted a table by the window. The view of the bay was great. Unfortunately the weather was to cold to eat outside but it seemed a nice place to be if we had a better climate."

"What a fantastic experience! We celebrated a friend's 80th Birthday last Saturday evening and it was such a memorable occasion. The food and service was outstanding, not to mention the fabulous views of our beautiful city! Our server, Thomas, was so busy but he went out of his way to make our celebration very special. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions, but be sure to make reservations because it is very busy and popular. We were seated soon after our 7pm reservation and everyone was very friendly and attentive. We will be back in the future. Thank you Peohe's!"

"We had wonderful view of the San Diego downtown. It was really beautiful. We had the coconut shrimp to start, which was okay. We then had the sushi for two, which was very good. For dessert, we had the crème Brule, which was very good. Prices were high, but it is high quality food, and a great view. Our waiter was excellent."

"We have always loved the food at Peohe's, and as a premium restaurant, the food matches the incredible scenery of the bay and city skyline at the ferry landing. We were surprised at the level of service when we found the staff had prepared personalized menus for us to celebrate our wedding anniversary in response to our dinner reservation. That was a very thoughtful and nice touch to add to the enjoyment of the evening. Unlike other restaurants, we never felt rushed in our meal experience to clear the table for the next customer. It was more like a European dining experience in that sense. The staff were great.

This is fine dining at its best."
