"Had dinner here a few nights ago and was SO looking forward to it! It was a special occasion, so I had called ahead and asked for a nice table expecting the tables to be bistro style and close together. Was assured they had a made a note of my request. Well, got there and got the worst table in the place! Squeezed in between two other tables and the only way for me to get to my seat was to pull the whole table out and for me to slide in. Neighbors weren't more than 6"away.

Food was standard bistro fare. Had beet salad, lamb shank and steak frites. All fine but nothing to write home about and not what you'd expect given Thomas Keller's hype.

Not eating here again, and don't recommend. Had a far better meal in Sonoma the next day..."

"Overall a very nice experience at Bouchon. Our reservation was ready and we were promptly seated by a slightly snooty woman. We requested a seat outside which was a mistake. The outdoor seats are right next to the road (3 feet away) and numerous UPS and FedEx trucks whip up and down. There are also many smokers around and the smoke can waft into the outdoor area.

Once seated we found the wait staff superb. True professionals not just people biding their time because they cant find acting jobs. Attentive but not intrusive.

The food was perfectly plated and well prepared but the menu lacked variety in some areas. They had a few nice specials to jazz it up but I would like to see some more interesting selections on the standard menu."

"Bouchon is not about great (or even consistently decent) food. It's not about great service (shouldn't a waiter in a French focused restaurant know where a Bandol wine is from? Repeating the name would be a good start!). Bouchon offers a beautiful room and a vibrant atmosphere. Why can't it offer good food to match? The after 10pm menu is particularly lame in terms of offerings and execution. 3 tartines??? And not even properly done. Yet no burger? Ahhhh....saved by the steak frites! Only if one is willing to pay $39 for a brick-shaped piece of beef that looks like a pot roast covered with sautéed onion bits. I'll pass! Come on chef -- give the people what a place like this should be offering in terms of quality!"

"Reminds me of home in Paris. Fresh bread from bakery next door outstanding. Foie de veau perfectly cooked. Actually had wines from Palette (Chateau Simone), the smallest AOC in France, and Chateau Daumas Gassac, a well-known craft wine from Languedoc Roussillon that I feel punches way above its weight -- i.e. excellent value for money. Already planning another trip."

"Having missed an earlier reservation in Yountville, we were fortunate to snag an Open Table reservation for late night dinner at Bouchon Bistro. We were seated immediately upon arrival by pleasing staff. Our waitress came right up and welcomed us, explaining the printed menu and explaining the chefs specials. Our party had a combination of seafood, gnocchi, and steak. The Boudin Blanc was extremely lean and flavorful, perched upon some of the tastiest mashed potatoes that come to mind. A long day in San Francisco kept us from dessert. However, several couples came into the restaurant just for dessert and coffee, and it really looked delicious.

So fortunate to have taken in this Keller Group Restaurant, it was our best dinner in Yountville"

"First time for Brunch at Bouchon ... they did a great job! Probably the best eggs I have ever had. Don't miss the pastry basket. here is a reason why 50 people are standing in line at the bakery ... everything they make is heavenly!

Tables are a bit crowded (they are really going for that "bistro" feel) and I wish they had of spaced us out better (only 6 tables seated in restaurant, yet they sat people at the tables immediately next to us).

Great staff and even better food!"

"If that doesn't seal the deal, I'm not sure anything will. Located just a few blocks from French Laundry in Yountville, Bouchon executes French bistro fare to perfection. I have enjoyed both the lunch and dinner menu. For lunch start with a selection of delicious oysters then move on to a delicious sandwich or quiche of the day or for go with the classic steak frites. For dinner, the roast chicken is beyond words (just get it). If you go for lunch, be sure to stop by the Bouchon bakery next store and get yourselves some bouchons for the trip home."

"We were 10 days into a US trip when we were recommended the Bouchon. Best restaurant yet in the USA and we eat out nightly. We started with a shared plate of bistro sized oysters from Washington - small and sweet - up there with the Sydney rock oysters. The rillette of two salmons my wife paired with her asparagus salad was superb. My lamb shanks were the equal of any I have ever had and the wine recommended by the waiter, an 09 Martinelli Chardonnay from Russian River, was full flavoured and buttery - it could have been a Puligny. The balance of the menu was pure France except for the exceptional American produce that formed the basis of the dishes. The servings were a sensible size and the service, for a busy restaurant."

"The food was perfect. This Thomas Keller restaurant is incredible. We had veal and brine chicken for our main course. Qual on French Laundry garden greens for app then the brownie special for dessert. Our reservation was at 7:45 on a Monday. It was packed when we arrived but only half full as we left. I would recommend a 8 or later reservation."

"New hostess great. She has the maturity to deal with a busy, popular place. Was very busy but were seated close to reservation time. Prompt water and bread delivery. We have been here a number of times and this was perhaps a slightly off night. Our usual dishes didn't have quite the flavor they usually do. Appetizer and wine very good. "Had high expectations and was slightly let down when our side dish was not delivered and we had to remind the waiter. When it finally arrived, we had already finshed our meal. They did make up for it by comping it. Additionally, we ordered a 2nd drink and I was amazed at how long it took for them to deliver it. Again, we were almost done with our meal by the time we got it. They did acknowledge the Birthday we were celebrating by putting a candle in the desert and gave us a box of 4 different pastries from the Bakery which was a nice touch as well. I would go back and try it again because I know that we all can have an off night, even a restaurant/waiter."

"Bouchon has gone down hill. A few key points.

First, we were only able to get 4pm reservations, but that was fine. We checked and were told there were no later reservations available. When we arrived the restaurant was almost empty. Still not unreasonable. However, we were then seated in the bar area - while 90% of the main dining area tables were open. It stayed so even as we left after dinner. So, why was the only available table in the bar? And why no 5pm or even 4:30 reservations?

Second, the waiter had about two things to say all night. He seemed genuinely disinterested in us.

Third, dinner was seriously overpriced.

Going for the bread and oysters is almost worth it. But we'll find someplace else next time."

"We had a party of 8 and arrived a bit early, and the team at Bouchon didn't blink an eye, they stepped right up and sat us at our table right away. The maitre D was funny, and the server VERY good.
Overall we loved our meal, had a GREAT time with our visitors from Florida and left full and happy!
We would love to go back."

"Great food and service. Wonderful list of daily specials which were unique in addition to the large variety of food on the menu. My husband had the trout special and it was by far the best fish we have tasted ever! But i wouldn't expect anything less from a Thomas Keller restaurant. We Would definitely come back again during our next stay in yountville. I highly recommend this restaurant for all occasions or even just a nice simple niight out!"

"After my dinner experience at Bouchon it became really clear that you really need to know someone to have an excellent experience there. The tables on either side of us knew the maitre d' or the wait person and were treated with an amuse-bouche, extra courses and even a gift bag with breakfast for the next day. We ended up having to pour our own wine and sit for rather long periods of time with our finished courses on our table because the staff was busy entertaining other people. We have eaten at other Thomas Keller restaurants and did not have this experience, which is rather ironic given that they were supposed to be the "snobby ones." At the end of the day, I would not recommend this restaurant given that it is surrounded by other r"

"We loved Bouchon from greeting to dessert. We had simple, perfectly prepared food with complex flavors. The trout with haricots verts and almonds was the very best version of that dish - buttery, cooked to the exact 'done' moment, fresh and beautiful. The chocolate mousse with salt caramel core was absolutely wonderful. And the staff was attentive and completely informed of gluten free needs."

"Food is phenomenal. We had lunch there. We shared a quiche which was fluffy and delicious. I had steak and frites which is the best I have has in a long time. My wife had the sole which was delicate and very tasty. The deserts - lemon tart and creme brulee - were out of this world."

"We have eaten at Bouchon a number of times over the years and we are never disappointed. The menus are always varied with great selections. It is not a place for a quite romantic dinner as the noise level Is definitely "energetic", but it always a great dining experience. Highly recommend!"

"Maybe it's because I had the pleasure of dining at Per Se on a prior occasion (spectacular), but I was disappointed by Bouchon. The food was fair at best-- the tartare I had for appetizer was underseasoned, bland almost, and the special that day-- the sirloin-- was so chewy and not well cooked at all. The only part I loved was the lemon tart for dessert. I felt like the energy of the servers was low that night, the place noisy, so with the food bland and service mediocre I regretted choosing this place for my birthday dinner. Maybe I should have gone to French Laundry for that kind of a night, but the food and ambiance wasn't memorable. I wish I didn't pick based on the name and went to Redd or somewhere else instead."
