"After dining at a similar restaurant (Stone Creek Grill) two nights earlier, where the food and drinks were skimpy for the high price, below average quality, and extremely poor service...Sullivan's was the polar opposite. We had great food and service. Everything was cooked perfectly and not once did our water glasses go without attention. Wish we'd gone to Sullivan's twice. Always a nice experience."

"My dining experience at Sullivan's is always good. My husband and I love to dine there for special occasions. We have friends that visit from other cities, and Sullivan's is always one of the most requested dining spots. We've tried the fillet, bone-in ribeye, porterhouse, and prime rib, and all have been excellent. They usually have a very good seafood special also. My friend had the pesto-crab encrusted trout. Great! Great service, too. Highly recommend..."

"The food at Sullivan's is always fantastic.
I had made reservations early in the week for a party of 11....and yet we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, even though I had confirmed both online and via phone that we were coming. We had a great table in the library area, and enjoyed our time, but the delay did cause a bit of being rushed due to other time obligations. Overall, service was great and the evening was a success."

"The overall dining experience was very good.I will give the overall experience a 4-4.5 rating.When I made the reservations all the specifics on how I wanted the evening to play out was executed.Our server (I believe his name was Abe was "absolutely outstanding")

His attitude,demeaner,his smile knowing when to check back in was exceeding expectations.These are the type of people alone can help drive sales and businesses forward with this type of work ethic and attitude.

Food = Outstanding,flavorful,cooked to order and hot.

"The atmosphere and service were really outstanding. Every staff member we encountered was pleasant, helpful, and genuinely concerned about our experience. The food was very good, but not the best. My steak was slightly overcooked, not enough that I wanted to send it back, but not exactly what I ordered. Their signature Martini was so-so. I'm not a huge fan of fruity cocktails, but I've definitely had better ones than this. Their risotto fritter appetizer was amazing, and I could have eaten an entire meal of those. They also gave us a free dessert for the birthday we were celebrating. This was a chocolate souffle with creme en glaze, and that was really good as well."

"Very enjoyable in every aspect. Well-worth every penny spent. Recently, we had a string of restaurants that have forgotten, or don't know, that 'hot food should be served hot--cold food, cold'; so food served at the perfect temperature was long-overdue. Great portions. Delicious fare!"

"The food was great even though the server explained the specials incorrectly. My food was excellent other two orders were incorrect but the food was still good. Service is the only down side to our evening...was not very educated on the specials that were pushed our way. Two of our three orders were specials and they did not come out as explained."

"On the whole we had a very nice meal. Shockingly the worst part of the dinner was the steak itself. It was a bit fatty and tough. I had a fillet that was ordered medium. The steak was cooked to the correct temperature but the outside was a bit too "charred". I think the main problem was that it just was not a very high quality fillet. My husband's steak was the same way. We expected a bit better from Sullivan's."

"We had a reservation for 5:45 and were eventually seated at about 6:35 after being touched and kicked by the all the people jammed into the bar waiting to be seated. The appetizer was very good. Seared Ahi. My New York Strip was very fatty and I spent most of my time trying to cut around all the fat. My wife's ribeye was overcooked. The creamed spinach was awesome and my wife liked her horseradish mashed potatoes. The sirloin at Outback would have been a better deal. Second year in a row that a reservation didn't mean anything. I won't be going back anytime soon."

"One of the best steaks you'll ever experience. You can practically cut it with a fork even though the cut is thick. Always cooked to your satisfaction. It is always crowded so you will be sitting close to other guests wich does inhibit that romantic feeling but it is worth it since all the food selections are fabulous. Service is always gracious and efficient.My favorite place to go for steak."

"My party's understanding of a special night out, is outstanding food (and we are willing to pay for outstanding), excellent service (which we received) and an atmosphere that allows us to be relaxed and comfortable and to have dinner conversation without yelling at each other. We were not comfortable all evening because we were constantly moving our chairs out of the way for other parties to get into their table or out of their table or waiters and guests passing by our table. The waiters were constantly handing food over or near our heads to another table. We felt we were in the way. And the noise was so bad we could not hold a decent conversation."

"Not worth the money.
Had to send a steak back to be cooked more so we ate at different times.
Noisy as snar and could not hold a conversation across the table.
Even though I made reservations 2 weeks ahead of time...Didn't get sat until 35 or 40 minutes after reserved time.
There are MUCH better steak restaurants to go to and I will not be back anytime soon."

"I have enjoyed dining at Sullivan's for many years, but our experience last Saturday evening was a far cry from our past experiences. We arrived ontime for our reservation, but were not seated for another 40+ minutes; the lobby was packed wall to wall. Once seated, we were looking forward to a nice dinner; unfortunately, our waitress seemed "preoccupied" & not as attentive as we have normally been accustomed; as the evening went on, I indicated to my wife that her name should be "ice woman" ... our dinner was "okay" at best, except for both or the fillets that we ordered: my wife's was ordered medium, & mine was ordered mediam rare, but both were over-cooked, & in fact, they were prepared about the same; extremely sub-par."

"The overall experience was amazing! The food was perfect and it was a wonderful Valentines Day date for my wife and I. The only problem we had was a 45 minute wait even tough we had reservations and we were early (1hr 15min wait total). Once we got in though, it didn't matter. Our date night was perfect!! We will be returning there again!"

"Service was great but the food was mediocre at best. The soup was served cold and we had to send it back. My steak was cold as well and that was sent back. "Sullivan's is nothing but a big waste of time and money. After waiting 25 minutes after my reservation to get in, we sat at the table for another 10 waiting on the server. Lobster bisque was bland, nothing special about caesar salad, have had better steaks at texas roadhouse. The best part of my meal was the horseradish mashed potatoes. There are plenty of fine dining with great steak places in Indianapolis, but Sullivan's is not one of them."

"I made reservations for my whole family to attend. Sullivan's Steakhouse came through even though the weather didn't cooperate. The weather and traffic caused many people to arrive late. So, Sullivan's Steakhouse was running behind. The staff handed out Shrimp Cocktail to all the guests while they waited. The staff also provided water to my girls while we waited because they were thirsty after a long day. So, Thank you, Sullivan's Steakhouse for making Valentines Dinner so wonderful for my whole family. I highly recommend that you go there whenever you have the time or the finances."

"We booked an 8:00 reservation and were not seated until 9:30. We were extrememly disappointed with how long we had to wait with little recognition of our concern. We understand that it was Valentine's day the next day and it was busier than normal but as a restaurant they should prepare for busy nights in advance. Our babysitter called to let us know she was getting tired and we had to speed up the meal.I dont think we will be going to Sullivan's again."

"My wife and I go to Sullivans regularly. This last time we went during the Valentines Day weekend (Friday). We had 7:30 reservations and were not seated at a table until 8:20. Three of the four of us ordered the filet from the special, medium cooked. Two returned medium-well and one was medium rare. It appeared they added more tables to accomodate the weekend crowd, but the staff and kitchen had trouble keeping up. The bill was incorrect and listed a wine that was higher in price than the wine we ordered; fortunately I caught the mistake and the tab was adjusted. At $250 for the four of us, it was not what I expected."

"Sullivan's is probably our favorite spot in Indy. We don't get there often, but always love the food, ambiance, wine, and the "well-oiled machine" service consisting of multiple personnel making sure that each stage of dinner is perfect. The last visit, however, was a little less than the Sullivan's usual perfection. It had more to do with our specific waiter's lack of confidence and outgoing attitude of service. We overheard others being attended to around us and on several occasions said to ourselves "THAT is how it's supposed to be."

The wine, salad, sides, and steaks were amazing as always. The cheesecake was dry.

We'll definitely return, hoping it it was fluke. The new table format really took away from the usual ambiance."

"I'm sold on Sullivan's! Although this was not our first visit, we were treated as though we were their most cherished guests. Our server was a frequent visitor and made sure everything was perfect. "We had received a gift card for Sullivan's and went there the other night... Over all it's not a bad place however where we were seated was very busy and sometimes caotic. My wife and I could not carry on a normal conversation due to the noise levels. The food was Ok... nothing to write home about... she got the Crab legs and for the amount brought out I would have preffered to go to a place like Red Lobster and get the same quality and 3 times the amount for less money. Basicly the same went for the steak that I got... It was good. But not worth the amount, and it wasn't anything special. Other than the noise levels this was not a bad experiance. But for my money I would choose another place for my next night out."

"We go to Sullivans frequently and love it. We celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary on the 16th of January. The food was fantastic. However, we commented on the serving size of the mashed potatos. About 18 months ago the serving sized was like a small casarole dish and we always had plenty. Our visit this time, our servings were practically 3 1/2 dollops and then they were gone.We just think for the value the servings should be increased just a little. Overall, this is our favorite Steakhouse and would rather come here then anywhere else.

"Right off, the restaurant was full. We had to wait 5 min just to get up to the hostest stand. We had reservations at 8:30 and that is what time we showed up. We heard people saying their names to be put on a waiting list for a seat. We were sure we would be sat soon since we had reservations. This was not the case. We did not get our seat until 9:15, 45 min after our reservations. We were more than certain that people on a waiting list were sat before us, which in a fine restaurant should never happen. People with reservations should always be sat first. Go thing we didnt have movie plans after dinner because that wouldnt have happened. The food was great but this will keep us from going back, and I've been there over 20times."

"The food was right on the borderline between very good and outstanding. Noise level a bit on the high side, but not so much that it detracted from an excellent dining experience. The only drawback was the waiting time for a table. To put things in perspective: this was our first visit to Sullivan's so our experience may be out of the ordinary. We had reservations for 7:00 and had to wait until 7:20 to be seated. Realizing that this is probably a busy time period for a Saturday, we still felt that as we were on time for our appointed reservation, seating with 10 minutes of the reservation time would be an acceptable delay. All aspects of service were outstanding. To sum up: it was an overall excellent experience and we will return."

"We had reservations for 8:30 p.m. and arrived 30 minutes early and we were told they
were running 45 minutes behind, which was reasonable, considering it was new years eve.
However, at 9:30, we were told it might be 10:30 or 11:00 before we were seated, since
we had a large party (6). This was unacceptable, and we were not the only people upset.
We were all packed in like sardines in the lobby and bar, everyone was angry, even the people who were exiting after their meal. We asked to talk to a manager and the hostess
said she would go get him, but 15 minutes passed and we never saw a Manager. My husband
went to find the manager and told him what was happening, he got us a table ready within 15 minutes, food was awesome, cust. saved."

"We arrived for our 7:00 reservation at 6:50 and were told that the restaraunt was "running 45-minutes to an hour behind." The lobby was absolutely packed, and the bar was not much better. We waited in the bar for 25 minutes before a bar table became available (no bar seats were vacant either) and sat for a cocktail, which ultimately became 3 as we waited over an hour. Other guests commented that the long wait was not unusual. A few other patrons decided to forego their table and eat in the bar area. After a group at the bar table next to us with a 7:30 reservation was seated before us, I headed to the hostess stand to express my displeasure and was told that our table had just become vacant and we were ready to be seated."

"We had reservations and arrived 15 minutes early, and still waited for an hour and a half to get a table. They were seating people that didn't have reservations even though they we completely booked. Consequently, when we arrived at 8:30pm they were still trying to seat reservations from 7:15pm. We were still finishing our meal when the new year arrived. We had to cancel our after-dinner plans because of the long wait. We went to Sullivan's for NYE last year as well, but did not encounter this sort of wait. I am not sure we will choose Sullivan's next NYE after this experience."

"Wow! Calamari for starters was great. Iceberg wedge with blue cheese and cracked pepper. I had a 12 oz. filet, rare with blue cheese crumbles - PERFECT! Horseradish mashed potatoes and asparagus for sides. I want to try and duplicate the potatoes at home. My wife mentioned that we were there for our anniversary and they provided us with a complementary slice of New York-style cheesecake, brought to the table with a sparkler! Our waiter was very nice and kept us updated on the Colts game! I only had iced-tea to drink, but their wine and drinks menu looked spectacular. We have been telling all of our friends and family about our experience and can't wait to go back!"

"We have been patrons of Sullivan's for several years now and as always, the food and service at was spot on! This time, we waited for a table for a very long time. There was a long wait, even for reservations, and we had requested a specific server, but our wait was twice as long. We hung out at the bar for 3 hours while waiting for a table with Kurt to open up. We understand the delay and the patient patrons are a testament to the food and service you get at Sullivan's. My only suggestion would have been to pass more appetizers to the waiting loyal crowd."

"We were seated 45 minutes after our reservation. Once seated and our drinks were brought, we were asked to move to a different table in order to accomodate a large, higher priority (Colts football players) group. Although our drinks were on the house, they did try to charge us the higher menu price based on the time we were seated as opposed to the time of our reserveation. $49 v $60 per plate. It was kind of joke but we know this is not Sullivan's normal practice. THey obviously overbooked for New Years Eve."

"We have been dining at Sullivan's for years. The experience is always superb. We enjoyed our Christmas Eve experience so much, we changed our New Year's plans to include Sullivan's. The wait staff is very attentive, the food is always prepared well with detail to flavor, and the prices are reasonable given the level of service and the quality and quantity of food. Our two most recent dining experiences included many children. As usual, the staff was very accomodating to our needs. We are looking forward to another great dinner."

"The only reason the Food rating was not five stars is the quantity of side dishes. The mashed potatoes, excellent overall, were handed out as though Sullivan's was in ration mode. I think the diners deserve at least 3-4 Tablespoons, rather than only 2.
Other than that, for a first time visit, the restaurant is an excellent choice!"

"The overall night was great. The food was great and the wait staff was dilligent. I did have a problem with waiting 45 mins to sit down with a reservation and we missed our movie because of it, but we picked up a nice bottle of wine and the two of ate at the expected amount of about $200."

"Half good half bad. Two couples in our party. Both men's orders done well. Both women's orders a mess. Sent both steaks back, with one being sent back twice and it was never cooked properly. Asked for medium well, both times came back medium rare. Management very sorry but they never got it right. VERY LOUD IN RESTAURANT. Tables way too close."

"Reservation was at 7:30pm and we weren't seated until about 8:15pm. Drives me nuts to make a reservation and not be seated within a reasonable amount of time from the time of the reservation. That's why we make reservations on Open Table, so we don't have to wait!"

"A busy Saturday night 2 weeks before Christmas made for a difficult dining experience. The bar was full, and the lobby too small, making waiting for the table uncomfortable and noisy. The table (for 8) was wedged into a corner, making getting in and out difficult. The server's aisle was too small, creating difficulties for those seated on that side. The waiter had a lot of information, but said it way too fast for us to understand. The shrimp in the cocktail did not seem fresh, and the sauce was bland. My wife's filet was overcooked and the flavor was only OK. I will remember never to order another bone-in filet, because it is difficult to eat. The souffle and the creme brulee were excellent. This was not a good value for the money."

"Sullivans has great food and excellent service. It is a little too loud if you're trying to actually converse with the people at your table and the tables are ENTIRELY too small for all of the plates, silverware, etc. I know they want to maximize the number of available tables but the table is so small that you can't even lay down the menu!"

"My girl friend and I enjoyed our 4 year anniversary very much at Sullivans. The prices were very reasonable when it comes to the quality of the food. I'm not a wine connoisseur, but I am familiar with a wide variety of winery's and I was impressed with their wine list. Although I haven't been to many fine dining restaurants in Indianapolis because I'm new to the city, I will definitely recommend Sullivans when a friend is looking for a romantic/ambient/delectable restaurant."

"I walked into the lobby and waited 10 minutes to get to the hostesses station to report for my reservation - it was annoying to have 25 people (no line) wondering who was "next" - I realized they were going to be busy - so, patience kicked in - but it was a birthday dinner on a Tuesday night and service was average for a place you expect to pay a lot of money for - I sensed the waiter was a bit stressed from the evening - not a great experience that evening - and I realize it was one evening - I've been to Sullivan's in the past and enjoyed it very much and have recommended it to many out-of-town guests - excellent food - I will return to the restaurant in the future - I have accepted this experience as a "unique" visit."

"Nice ambiance; ordered from the Breast Cancer menu. Had a mango martini to start, it was a bit too sweet and artificial tasting at the beginning but it grew on you. The salad (greens and tomato) had a bit too much dressing, too vinegary. Then had the salmon, which was simply perfect. The sides were good, and the dessert (key lime pie) made for a nice finish. Our waiter was good in asking how we were doing but we had to ask for the wine list and weren't offered coffee, just brought the check right after the dessert. The complimentary valet parking is convenient but there was only one valet on a quite busy night and you had to go outside and stand in the middle of incoming cars to get the car back, which sort of defeats the purpose."
