Trellis is a wine country style restaurant featuring innovative farm to table cuisine – much of it grown in Chef Brian Scheehser’s 10 acre farm in Woodinville. Trellis offers a farm-fresh, robust menu that evolves with the seasons in providing only food and drink that celebrate small scale, artisan products at the height of their seasonal quality. Trellis has an enviable Kirkland downtown location at The Heathman Hotel.

"Great food as usual!! We always ask ourselves why we don't come back to Trellis more often! We typically go on a weekend, but this time we ate out on Monday. It was a bit louder than normal - there were a few business dinners. We will definitely be back!"

"Food was great as expected; that was not the problem. Our server appeared to be purposely avoiding us for no reason at all. Wife's cocktail was 15 mins late, no apology. Ordered tea during appetizer for dinner. Server then disappeared after taking our dinner order only to reappear AFTER we ate our entire dinner - while ironically was just when I was finally getting my tea. The tea was basically water (only food related disappointment) and about 20 minutes late. Again, no apology; just our check with everything on there. If I got this server again, I would ask to be reseated.
Not trying to nit pick, I'm a serial 20% tipper who loves going out and server tables for years. This was just bad service with a smile."

"Bland and way overpriced! Trellis used to be good, but I was shocked at how bland our food was. From the very beginning with the dry, day old rolls, to a virtually tasteless tomato soup, to a flavorless roasted chicken, I can't even remember the last time I had food so unispiring. Add that to the fact that it's not a cheap restaurant, it's definitely a no go! I won't be returning to Trellis again."

"At first glance it appeared the entrance would be from the street, but was actually inside the lobby of the Heathman. There were some lightly grilled halved scallions on the salad that were a nice addition and I felt it reinforced the fresh-from- the- nearby farm theme. Were much tastier that the usual sliced raw. The prawns in the pasta main course were the largest I have ever seen in a restaurant! Big as Yorkies! Portions were just right."

"Very friendly hostess and serving staff and a good selection of food fit for both vegetarians and meat eaters. the outdoor area has a nice, high quality plastic wrap to ward off the chill but not obstruct the ambience or view.
BUT....the food is a disappointment. the pasta is under-cooked (and yes, I know the meaning of al dente) and unflavored, the flatbread a bit under-ordinary, the french fries over-cooked as is the other appetizers. I went on a Friday evening and the restaurant was less than 1/3 full."

"We come here often. We dined with friends last Thursday. There weren't many diners in the restaurant. One in our party raved about the sea food stew, and my pasta was perfect. The food is always well prepared and fresh. Holly's service was exceptional. Too bad the restaurant doesn't have it's own web page. Having only a small part of the Heathman's web page doesn't do it justice."

"We were pleasantly surprised at our first experience at Trellis. Our server was very attentive and friendly and so were our neighboring parties that flanked us against the wall. We all mentioned our envious we were of each other's dishes, shared some wine and chatted, which didn't bother our server at all. Our appetizers, sides and entrees were very good. The veggies were fresh and we were impressed with the overall experience at Trellis. We don't live close and it was part of a stay-cation on the Eastside (We are from W. Seattle) but we will definitely recommend Trellis to our friends."

"My husband and I were looking forward to trying Trellis for our date night, but even though we had a reservation we were seated outside in the patio/bar - it was raining and cold. When we asked to be moved inside we were questioned about whether we had a reservation, and were given a terrible table, even though many were empty. Food was fabulous, but our overall experience was awful, and we will not go back. My advice? Demand the table you want."

"Trellis is good value as it offers fixed price menus. The waiters are attentive and knowledgeable, which was necessary because some items on the menu were new to us, such as farro. The food was pretty good, but the choice of entrees had only two non-vegetarian options. We chose the trout which was obviously local and fresh, quite delicious. I don't usually have desert but the lemon and sage flan was light and just right. My companion enjoyed the cobbler."

"The menu reads well but the actual taste of the dishes were average. I went to great lengths with my server to ensure that a particular ingredient was not in the dish , but it was. Most restaurants would have taken the dish back or at least not charged me for it . The service was a bit haphazard as well."

"This is our neighborhood go to restaurant. They treat us like family here. It only took a couple of visit to be considered a regular to them. The food is outstanding, fresh and local. The price is higher, but the quality is there."

"Very good food and excellent service, but you have to be careful as it can get very pricey. The wine list is pricey and we ended up spending $200 for 2 for 3 courses and a bottle of moderately priced wine."

"Trellis continues to be the best restaurant in Kirkland and one of the best in the Eastside. Food is amazing, service is impeccable and the staff is attentive without being overbearing, friendly, prompt, and graceful. There is an excellent selection of appetizers, entrees, side dishes, and deserts, an excellent wine list and a very nice selection of on-tap and bottled beers. What's even more, the prices are very reasonable. I've been here 20+ times and I've never been disappointed. You won't be either."

"Trellis is always a great experience. Service is just right – not wanting to be your best friend, but professional and perfectly timed. The food is exceptional; nothing on the menu is a disappointment and the presentation not overdone, reflecting a high level of care. Some of the tastes that could be boring are a real surprise and become favorites (tomato soup).
I could live on the mussels and the peanut butter cookies."

"There's a open yet intimate feel to the restaurant. The host gave me several choices for a table. We had a lovely meal. There were several odd things though. Our server was often missing from the dining room for quite a while. I literally had to wave several times to get her attention. There were several choices missing on a fairly small list for glasses of wine. I mentioned that there was no chocolate desserts and was told that sometimes happened. Fortunately, I ordered the cookies which were chocolate and peanut butter with a chocolate sauce (quite good!). Although I enjoyed it, there are other restaurants that have the same quality of food but I walk out feeling pampered."

"We have been to Trellis many times in the past and have always been impressed. This time we took some friends and although it was very good it wasn't as wonderful as we've always found it to be in the past. Not sure if it was just an off night or we managed to not pick the right set of things as a group. Nothing was bad and many things were very good but we just weren't blown away like we normally are. We definitely will go back again, we've had too many wonderful meals there to not assume that we will continue to do so."

"We eat here often. This was ”Open That Bottle Night" so we took a very rare and special wine. Wine srvice was impeccable as was table service. Our filets were cooked exactly as we requested. This is a hoel restaurant be a large percentage of the patrons were locals."

"I was very surprised to find that Trellis had a spot still available 2 days before Valentines day. I immediately booked it! I knew it wouldn't be a cheap night, but it was a special occasion. My husband was really excited about going, and the food was out-of-this-world. We shared a couple of glasses of champagne, talked, ate, and had a very lovely evening. Very expensive for us, but worth it when celebrating."

"We very much enjoyed our dinner at Trellis. The waiter was very knowledgeable and made some great suggestions. There was nothing we ordered that we did not like. We enjoyed appetizers (which are rather large) a salad, entrees and dessert. We will definitely recommend this restaurant and be back again."

"Absolutely terrible. We have frequented Trellis a few times and each time we say we will never go back - time goes by and we think we should give it another shot. Well NEVER again. The food was tasteless and in one instance the entree was so unpalatable I actually sent it back and asked for something else, which by the way really was no better!"

"Good place to bring job candidates. I have been here now multiple times. Surprisingly very limited set of options for Vegetarians (even the Ovo-Lacto ones). The main chef seems to have left to let the place run on auto-pilot. So creativity ahs taken a back seat. Still a great choice for a reasonably quiet place to have an extended discussion for candidate interviews. Staff do not rush you - but need to be cajoled to tell the "story of the sea salt and the restaurant". Valet parking is a very useful option."

"I love Trellis. I've been going for years and every meal I've had there has been exquisite. I love how the chef uses locally fresh ingredients, whatever's in season. Very nice atmosphere, not overly crowded and bustling. All in all, a great dining experience."
