"The food was good, but the service was horrible. Once the food was served, the waitress never came by to check on us. My father's tea or my son's drink were never refilled. We had asked for rice and only after the waitress "caught my eye" did she remember. Then the rice came after we had almost finished our meal. Also she never asked if we wanted to take our left overs home and tried to quickly clear the table. Once I expressed my displeasure, she apologized over and over, but the damage was done. We will not be going back to this restaurant."

"Restaurant is quite expensive, so it is best to go during Happy Hour from 4PM-6:30PM and 9PM till Last Call. Appetizers are 40% off, alcoholic drinks and food items are cheaper. Customers cook their own food on a BBQ in the center of their table."

"I met up with a friend that I hadn't seen in years. We had a great time cooking our own food. We went during happy hour so the prices were excellent as well. The service was great and the food was very good. We hadn't been before, and mentioned it to our waiter. He was extremely helpful, and was very patient with us. All in all a great experience, and I'll definitely come back."

"there were 2 of us and we only had 1 tong to use. the busyboy was actually more helpful than the servers. dessert order took a long time to come out after the bill was paid. our grill did not have the ring around so the food kept on falling."

"This is my daughter's favorite restaurant. Our waiter, Paul, was attentive without over doing it. The food, as always since you pretty much prepare it yourself, was great. The price is fantastic for what you get. It was her 20th birthday and the staff did do the little song and brought a scoop of ice cream with a candle - corny but welcomed!"

"Gyu-Kaku has become my new favorite restaurant! I took my boyfriend for the first time for happy hour and he loved it. The ambiance is great! The lights are slightly dimmed, the music is good, and the fact that the booths/tables are privatized by dividers adds up to make a very cool experience. The staff is very helpful and explain every detail of cooking down to which parts of the grill are for which food. They even helped my boyfriend when he let his beef cook a little too fast on the grill :) During happy hour the prices are very reasonable and that is always a pocket-helper. Overall this is a great restaurant and I would encourage everyone to try it."

"We are repeat customers to Gyu-Kaku and we always find that we have a great time. The beauty of this restaurant and the style of eating is that everyone can engage in a lively conversation. The food is always very good, service is amazing and don't worry if you don't know what to order, plenty of people around are more than willing to share their favorites on the menu. Ask for the desert fondue at the end of your meal (not on the menu), the smores' are a must if you have kids."

"Everything we ate here tasted awful. The salad dressing drowned the salad with it's horrific taste and texture. The calamari was tough and chewy. The miso soup was horrendous. The Kalbi was poorly seasoned, and the other meats were awful. The garlic noodles were okay. The dessert was good, but you can't really mess up a s'more. Bottom line: waste of money, waste of time, waste of calories."

"For the past few times that I attended this restaurant I was not able to redeem my Gyu Kaku reward of 25 dollars because there was something wrong with the network. I think the restaurant should try harder to compensate the customers if this is the case and not expect them to keep coming back and spending more money hoping that one of those times their reward cards would work."

"If you go during your birthday month (they'll ask for your ID), you can order the "Birthday Course." It's a meal for two for $60 (savings of $30 off a $90 meal), which includes miso soup, salad of choice, bibimba of choice, veggie item, and 4-5 meat items. If you go before 6:30pm, you can add appetizers and meat items for 1/2 off and Sapporo for $1, which will fill your tummy for cheap!

My sister and I have been going during our birthday months for the past couple years now...it's becoming a fun little tradition!"

"I am not a fan of dining out and cooking my own food.
I have been to the Torrance Gyu-Kaku several times and the service is always great, no matter how busy. The Gyu-Kaku salad is outstanding; it is one of my favorites. Garlic noodles are right up there :) The meats are good as well as the vegetables; I just do not enjoy cooking them myself!
There are always good deals as well. Half-priced meats and happy hour specials as well as seasonal specials.
The music is a little too loud when the restaurant is not full.
Overall, a good experience and an unique experience. I know I will return."
