Since opening in December 2001, red maple has become the place in Baltimore to experience the modern lounge vibe. Exotic cocktails, Asian inspired tapas and mod-lounge sounds echoing off of a unique retro-modern architecture are the products of our passion for creating this vibe. "Wasn't what I was expecting. It is more of a "night spot" that happens to offer decent "small plates." If you are a young person meeting others for drinks, it might be great. I was looking for a dining experience, so I ended up "trying to flexible." Atmosphere was "hip," (if that word is still used) but seating was uncomfortable if you are late middle age like me. Ordered 3 small plates. Two were very good, and one was so-so. Parking is limited, so expect to pay in this neighborhood. I wish them well, but I won't be back."

"I searched Open Table for find a reservation for Valentine's Day, and got an early evening reservation at Red Maple. We were not dissapointed. We had great service, and our waiter made excellent recommendations from the pre fix menu for the holiday. The food was an excellent mix of flavors and presentation. The Mango Lime Fool for dessert was a more than adequate serving, but you were still tempted to lick the glass clean. (One more glass of the sparkling Antoinette wine, and I might have!) The atmosphere was a cool lounge feel, but without being pretentious. Great place for both a romantic date (go early to get a primo seat by one of the fireplaces) or with a group to share small plates and enjoy the music."

"My girlfriend & I were very excited to visit Red Maple during Restaurant Week as we had both heard very good things. We were crushed when we received a call confirming our reservation and ALSO telling us that they were NOT participating in Restaurant Week the night of our planned visit. With no real explanation other than "we are participating on the weekend" we DID NOT since the Restaurant Week offering was the driving force behind us trying Red Maple. I can say I do not remember this being spelled out in their bio in the Restaurant Week list of participants, but it may have been, if that's the case I'll take the blame.

Needless to say this has left us with a bad taste in our mouth and will influence the possibility of us going there"

"My friends and I went for restaurant week. Upon arriving they told us they were only doing the restaurant week special on the weekends. Our waiter went missing for long periods of time and it wasn't crowded. Red Maple definitely does not live up to its hype. I will not be going again!"

"This place has a great ambiance and some neat cocktails, but the food leaves a lot to be desired! Moreover, it was supposed to be participating in the Baltimore Restaurant Weeks, but when we arrived, we were disappointed to learn that, for some undisclosed reason, they had decided NOT to participate in the second week (although they were still listed on the Baltimore Restaurant Week website). :-("

"After sending back the first martini for too much vermouth and having a corrected one, the next ordered was just like the first - and we were seated across from the bar!

We were disappointed that the only menu available was the Restaurant Week higher-priced one ($35.10) and not the regular tapas menu.

Some stalls in ladies room had light burned out."

"This is a very pretty restaurant and clearly aims for a hip demographic - which is not me. But I expected the food to be better - we went early on a Wed. night and while the service was outstanding the food was unremarkable. I wouldn't go again. I would recommend it to someone looking for a noisy trendy bar scene with dancing."

"Portions were TINY. The food was good, but I need a lot more to be satisfied. We actually stopped somewhere else for dinner afterwards...

Music was too loud for all 8 people that were in the entire restaurant when we were there. Drinks were expensive too."

"Very trendy and modern. Stylish. Modern interior, DJ, and a cretive menu wich you pick out small plates of different dishes.Low seats and tables, maybe a little unconfortable seating but that is what gives it the "lounge look". I will come back."

"Went on a Sunday night which just so happened to be "Hip Hop" night. Food was good / fun. Service was there when you needed. The place was a total scene starting around 9:30PM or so. BEST PART: Open Bar from 21:00-22:00!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I did not enjoy my dining experience at this restaurant. It has very uncomfortable lounge seating, not table dining. I felt like I was having dinner in a busy hotel lobby. The restaurant was holding a singles event the night I was there with a friend before the symphony. We were seated right across from a registration table, so we had to dine as singles filed by for the event. It was absolutely awful. Interestingly, this restaurant bar serves no coffee. That's just weird."
