"The only complaint I have is that we purchased a "Points card" which they did not honor as how we understood it.
The menu is also a bit limited, so this is ideal for an occassional dinner or special events venue."

"We have visited the Chart House on several occasions...some special, some "just because". We have never been disappointed! The view of New York is exquisite, no matter where you sit. This was the day after one of the snowstorms we had this past winter, but it was an amazing experience. The food and service are consistantly excellent, which is very important to us. We eat out a lot, and expect everything to be perfect. If one restaurant cannot deliver, we know of many others that will. The Chart House is an excellent place to dine, and we will always return for more."

"I brought my boyfriend, who, by the way, is a chef,for his bday and we had a lovely experience.the service is awesome.The menu had a Happy Birthday on the top which was special, the waiter, Jimmy, was so polite he made us feel special. We ordered costa rican mahi mahi and blackened tuna , oh my is was so delicious; they served them with.coconu rice, we thought it could have been more "coconutish". We also thougt the vegetables could had more flavor. Then, we ordered a dessert, which was made to order so we had to order it with the food. It was a molten chocolate cake, which nicely came with a candle and jimmy and I sang happy bday. Since it was made to order I was expecting it to be hot, it was warm but it was very good. We recommend it !"

"I've been to the Chart House a few times and the food is generally good. The fish was fresh, but the sides were terrible. The coconut rice tasted like it came out of a banquet hall and the vegetable was over cooked and soggy. The appetizers were well presented and very good. The chocolate molten cake which is done at almost every restaurant was good but nothing too special. For the price it all wasn't good enough. I won't be back any time soon."

"This was a disappointment, I'm not sure what management is thinking but having your customer's make reservations and still making them wait 40 minutes to get a table isn't starting the evening on a good note. I have to admit, when my company had a party there 2 weeks ago.. that experience was great... Prime rib was nice and juicy and yummy to the 10th power.

But during last night's fiasco, wow.. I'm really going to have to rethink coming back to this place."

"Everything about our dinner at The Chart House was very good. I had the best New England Clam Chowder I've ever had these past 62 years. The entire staff was very helpful and friendly, from the Valet Parking and Coat Check to our server, Frank, who was very knowledgable and helpful with our order. His service was absolutely top rate and profesional. This is a great place to go for dinner and we plan to go back again.......and again."

"The setting is memorable with New York city and the Hudson river just outside the wall of glass. "We dine out considerably and I also hold many meetings over lunch or dinner. For that reason, I am quite particular as to the place I choose for my wife and I for special occassions. With that said, I do not think I could have picked a better place than Chart House for our dining experience. I say this because it really is an experience. At a simple request, we were re-seated because the table next to us was a large group and expectedly generated a bit of noise. Our server added to the experience by providing excellent service and being attentive. The food was served in a timely manner and presented professionally. I rarely say this, but we cannot wait to go back and look forward to sitting outside during the summer."

"After waiting for 1.5 hours for dinner we had to request to speak to the manager who stated the kitchen was backed up but never gave a concrete reason why. Unfortunately this happened on Saturday night before Valentine's day which made it a special occasion for my girlfriend and I. The food was ok...the scallops were overcooked...maybe because they were rushing to get the food out. Actually a very dissapointing experience since I've been to the Charthouse numerous times for business and everytime the experience was top notch."

"I have been to several Chart House restaurants in the US and this one has probably one of the nicest views - across from midtown Manhattan. It was Valentine's Day so it was very busy but the staff was very attentive, courteous and willing to please. Noise level was high but it was a high traffic evening so it was forgiven. Nice mix of young couples on early dates to old couples in their matching red sweaters keeping the flame alive. The food was excellent, priced appropriately for Seafood and well presented. As with most places I feel they give you far too little wine for the price. To me a "glass of wine" means a full glass not a half glass. Shame. We will be back as its just 30min from the UWS of Manhattan."

"The Resturant has a fantastic view of the Manhattan Skyline. The food was average and they promised a window table. But when I arrived they told me I had to wait an hour. Even without the window view I had to wait 30 mins. When we were finally seated I noticed many window tables were unoccupied. It will be my last visit there."

"The view was great!! The food was very tasty too! The biggest complaint I have that ruined the experience for me was that our reservation was for 8:45pm. We weren't seated until 9:30 pm. We ordered fairly quickly and didn't receive our dinner until 11pm!!! Because of this, I don't think we will go back again."

"Went on a pre-Valentines day dinner. Food was really good and view is fantastic! We got lucky to be sitting by the window overlooking NY skyline. Mango mojito is really good - best I had! Server was ok until desert time. Asked us if we wanted to get the lava cake but we asked for the desert menu just to see what else they have. When we checked the menu, it says that lava cake needs 30 mins prep time. We ordered it and the server asked us "Are you sure you want it coz it needs 30 mins prep time? That's why I asked you earlier if you wanted it". First of all, I didn't care how long it will take, secondly, he really didn't say it needs 30 mins prep time! Ended up not getting it coz he ruined my mood."

"This visit to Chart House was my least favorable, and I visit at least a couple times a year. I asked for a window seat and the window seat that was given to us was not really a window seat, as only one person had a window view. The other person's back was to the window. We were eventually moved, but not to another window seat. The tables that sit two are too close together. We could hear conversations on both sides of us, which was a bit much. The service was mediocer. Had to ask for water to be refilled and there was a long wait between the appetizers and the entree. Don't think I will be visiting again anytime soon."

"I went there for a romantic dinner with my wife (Valentine's Day). The service was great the restaurant was beautiful with great views of the city. The had a semi-private area set up for couples that evening it was nice. The food was not the best I have had nor the worst. Since this was my first time at this restaurant perhaps I didn't know what to order. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend just based upon the ambiance and service. The food needs to improve."

"We had at 8:45pm and at 11:45pm still hadn't received our meal. Needless to say, we left at 11:45, without even having dinner. It was beyond disappointing. A restaurant with a reputation should have been more prepared for the crowd they were going to serve. Quite honestly, they overbooked and made it clear to the people that made reservations that we weren't held to any higher priority for doing so."

"My boyfriend and I were there this past Saturday (February 13). We had a 9:00 reservation and we waited for about 45 minutes until our table was ready. Our entrees did not come out until 11:45. It was rediculous and it seemed as though everyone around us was either leaving, or contemplating leaving without even eating yet. I have been to the Charthouse plenty of times and the service was usually excellent, but this year it was absolutely horrible."

"I've been this restaurant and the food and service was great. This experience wasn't so great as the restaurant ran out of food, which was unacceptable especially on such a busy night. The waiter was great and very apologetic but all in all it was not the romantic night I had in mind."

"WOW!! I and my girlfriend had reservations at 9:15pm, but it was a 30min wait, which was ok because it was Valentine weekend. When we finally got seated around 10pm we order our food and waited and had a few drinks than at 12:00AM we finally got our DINNER!! A 2 HOUR WAIT FOR STEAK AND RIBS!!! Never again I will go there!! The food cost too much, the only good thing about the Charter House was the view of NYC!!!"

"Our family (all adults) enjoyed the Chart House. Although I feel the prices are a bit steep, the portions are excellent and the food is delicious. A lot of what you pay for is the wonderful view of the NY skyline. There are no "bad" tables, every table has a view."

"Whe made 915 resevations but were only sat at 950. After about 15 minutes of waiting our waitress finally arrived to take our drink and appetizer order. Along with appetizers we also placed our entree order. Our appetizers arrived and they were good, however our entered never came. Our waitress stop by our table at around 11 to appologize for the wait and that it would be about 10 more minutes for our food to arrive. The next time we saw her was at midnight when we asked for our check. After 3 hours of waitting at this restaurant with reservations that had been booked 3 weeks in advance we ended up leaving hungry. On a side note, the table next to us had the same experienc that night."

"Everything was great except for the vegetables. I did not have any choices and I got broccoli, which I don't like. I would prefer a choice. I substituted baked potato for rice and was charged $2.99. I would have preferred a higher price for the entree. This came across as tacky and not at all classy. I also think $7 for an extra vegetable is crazy."

"Our "Valentine" dinner never happened! We arrived at 9pm, for a 9:30 reservation. We thought we'd have a drink before dinner, however the bar was so crowded it took us at least 20 to 30 minutes to get a drink. We had to stand for over 2 hrs. before being seated for dinner,& then was told the kitchen is backed up & it would take a while for our food. We ordered appetizers & waited & waited for dinner. It was well after midnight when we asked for coffee & dessert & to please just wrap our dinners, only to be told they still weren't done. We paid our check & left. We were extremly disappointed in The Chart House, we thought it had more class than that, that's why we choose there to spend our "Valentine" dinner. Big mistake!"

"Our dining experience at the Chart House was HORRIBLE. Thankfully I have been there many time before, so I won't let this experience affect my return, however I will never EVER go during a holiday weekend. We had reservations for 9:30, when we got there they said they were running late. They sat us at 1030. We ordered wine, app & dinner immediately. Our app came out 20 mins later, wine never came out, had to ask again. Then I'm not exagerating at 12:15am we were still waiting for our dinner. Since we (along with the rest of the restaurant) were falling sleep, we decided to cancel our dinner order and go home. As we were waiting for valet @ 12:20, there was another couple who had also cancelled their dinner & were going home w/o eating."

"definately not what i expected. our reservation was at 930, they sat us at 10pm. at 1145pm, we still did not receive our food. we had to leave without ever eating. it was horrible. not sure what happened, didnt seem like anyone ate. they said they had preblems with the kitchen. drove from staten island, paid tolls and gas, and parking, for nothing. also spent $40 at the bar waiting to be seated. beautiful place. not sure what happened. very dissapointed."

"Went there the evening before Valentine's Day and had reservations for 9:30. We were told upon arrival that they were backed up at least 30 mins. We sat and were told the kitchen was backed up at least 45 mins., although our appetizer came pretty quickly. We ended up eating dinner at 12:15 and dessert at about 1:00am. We were told the upstairs had been open for dining which is not the usual case. Chart House if you want to make some extra cash, don't compromise your service."

"I had a reservation at the Chart House which I made a month in advanced and the only time available was 9:00pm. I really have no problem at all eating late but when we tried to order our appetizer I was told that they have run out of that specific item. I than tried to order a different appetizer and was informed they were also out of that item. The waitress than listed everything on the menu that was no longer available that night. The Chart House should anticipate a busy evening and order food accordingly. They were accepting reservations until 11:30pm so I could imagine what was left on the menu for those patrons."

"We enjoyed our dinner at the Chart House tremendously! First, we were late for our reservation, and the staff was very accomodating when we called. We were seated shortly after we arrived. Our server was pleasant and helpful, and didn't rush us at all. We ordered the Baked Stuffed Shrimp, the Dynamite Mahi-Mahi, the Stuffed Flounder. The food was excellent (no doggie bags here!), the wine was good, the service and atmosphere were both very nice and relaxed. What more could you really want? We'll be back, for sure."

"When dining at the chart house, if you are fortunate enough to get a table by the window, the view is outstanding. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A RESTAURANT THAT HAS A VIEW SUCH AS THIS! One must keep in mind that one is paying for the view and ambience. The service we received was par excellence, this young lady did not miss a beat! she was there to clear our dishes and bring our next course and didn't "hover" over us asking how's everything. Swemay was excellent! I consider myself to be a "moderate foodie" I love good food. We started out with tha crab cake, "delicious!", summed up in one word! Small but delicious. The rest of the meal was OK."

"Went for Valentine's Day, and our table had a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline. Great drinks from the bar to start off the night, and then some really wonderful appetizers: I highly recommend the seared peppered ahi tuna and the lobster bisque. And don't forget to tell your waiter 30 mins before you're done with dinner that you want the chocolate lava cake. Even if you think you won't have any room, order it anyway. Not to be missed. Fantastic service from Greg--attentive without being a pest."

"While the food was very good, they were overbooked and made us wait 25 minutes past our reservation time to sit. And when we did sit, about 1 hour passed between our first course and our second course. The waiter was friendly, kept apologizing, but it still took forever . The manager never came over himself to apologize. We were given complementary dessert because of the wait. Would consider going back, but not for dinner, and not on a Saturday night."

"Excellent meal with hardly a wait and on one of the busiest days of the year. They where also quite gracious when my gps sent us across the GWB to an old location of theirs, and I called to advise that we had a GPS malfunction and to hold our reservation. "We love the Chart House! Food and service never disappoint. We actually love it so much we got married there in 2007!"

"Good place. Went on Vday so food took a long time. Reservations were at 7pm, we sat at 7:15, so very quick in that regard. We order 10 min later and it took an hour for the appetizers to come out and then another hour for the food. We got out at 10:00pm. Luckily we weren't starving. Been here before and its a good place, but obviously for Vday it was too crowded for them to maintain."

"The restaurant looked amazing!!! It isn't our first visit there and we love this restaurant, but slight modifications should be made. The menu could have had more options, for example, maybe a surf and turf or more options for sides. The service was outstanding, but my husband and I felt as if we were being rushed out; the service was too fast and I strongly believe that with such great quality food and view, one should enjoy their dining experience completely. Otherwise, everything else was great; we felt as if the staff was completely attentive to us."

"It was our unniversary and everything the crew did was just perfect. Shampagne, appetizers and main course was delicious and, of course desert a chockolate lava cake with candels and saying "happy anniversary". WE didn't expect that, so it was a nice surprise. "I've eaten at the Chart House several times. The service is always SLOWWWW, but I think that is somewhat intentional given that most people want to have a long meal when dining there. The food is just OK; what you're paying for is the view, which is superb. I've probably sampled about 20% of the menu from either my own order or that of others, and only a few items really stand out. The chopped spinach salad is fantastic, as is the molten chocolate dessert. The steaks are also pretty decent and are the best buys on the menu given that steaks and seafood are all priced basically the same. Finally, there are two items I should share my disappointment with...I am a huge crab cake and lobster bisque fan, and both are mediocre at best."

"This Chart House has the most incredible NYC skyline view, and therefore it is our favorite for taking out-of-town family and guests when visiting. (Better than being in the City for a view!) We also enjoy it for our own special occasions, for the ambiance and view. The numerous meals we have had at this Chart House are good, but tend to be overcooked (seafood should not be "well done," especially fresh salmon). However, I am sure this well-cooked approach in the kitchen is to the liking of most "non-foodie" diners, and this location clearly does draw many tourists. Tuna sashimi appetizer last week was spectacular. Good fresh oysters. Good selection of fresh seafood. Good wine list. No reason for big complaints, to be sure"

"The overall dining experience was great. However, I was really disappointed to find out that even though I had made a "reservation" ahead of time, I still had to wait for a table. I waited an HOUR to be seated to a table and I was definitely unsatisfied about that. What's the point of making a reservation if you won't be seated according to your reservation time?! I'm going to think twice before I decide if I'll go to the restaurant again. The food was good; can't complain about that. The waiter was very helpful and attentive. I think the only reason I would recommend this restaurant to someone is for the scenic view and the romantic ambience."

"First off, to find the place was a bit hard.. Once inside the restaurant, it was amazing.. The staff were very friendly and professional. The waiter was ontop of his game and paid attention to detail and very courteous. The ability to know all of the services and options available was very nice!! The food presentation and preparation was amazing... The price was up there, but that is to be expected, seeing that it is near the city... and it was well worth it!! I recommend it to anyone and everyone looking to enjoy an evening with the ones that they love!! I will definitely be back there again in the near future!!"

"I've been here before, and the overall experience has only gotten better. One really good note: My date wanted to take the remainder of her dinner home. When the waiter returned with the bag, he said that the busboy accidentally threw out her plate. So, they made us an entirely new order to go - free of charge. Very cool."

"For a seafood restaurant the experience fell far short. Yes it was a group of seafood industry people at our table whic is why we chose the place to begin....the waitress first and then the chef had no idea where the salmon came from ....."it Atlantic farmed..." was all we got. Ordered salmon, flounder, and swordfish. The salmon was ordered with a cool center....what arrived was a tail piece that was obviously a massively gaped piece and cooked dry. Swordfish also cooked dry and flounder was good. Magic location and view but poor food."

"For the first time ever I was very disappointed in the service. I had my Lemon Drop Martini spilled all over my back and coat. My pants and shirt were wet and cold. The server took the coat to dry for me in the coat room. I was served another drink and she and the waiter said they were sorry...but nothing else was done. The manager was obviously never informed. My coat and angora sweater have to be dry cleaned...at my expense. I would even think a complementary Lemon Drop would have been offered...but nothing!! Our server was very nice..but not very in tune with customer relations. Maybe it's me..but I think something should have been done more than hanging my sticky coat to dry. Sorry...did not enjoy my dinner."

"The service was great, our waitress was very attentive. I thought the food was good although there is room for improvement. The atmosphere was great and the view was beautiful. The only thing that I would complain about is the Blonde woman at counter when we first walked in. She looked annoyed when I gave her my reservation information. Obviously not the position she should be in. Greeting people when they first come in to a restaurant should be left to the less miserable. Aside from that it was a good dining experience."

"I was really excited about this restaurant, you know, the location on the bank of the Hudson River, the amazing view of the city and the self-publicity. But very early on the dinner I realized this people are a little bit overconfident on all those things but the food. The appetizer was well presented but tasteless and rushed to be cooked, ( the cheff tried to solve the problem by adding a strong dressing ) The main Course, (the North Atlantic Salmon), was a real disaster. The taste of the fish is really something that leaves a lot to wish and the presentation of the dish was depressing, (a mix if deorganized items like rice and a ton of broccoli that shadows the other elements, like covering a crime scene). To remark, Good Waitress."

"In January, my husband took me, my 8 yr. old daughter and mom to celebrate my 50th birthday. He surprised me by inviting my best friend and her two young daughters. We had a great table facing the window and the NY view was spectacular. The food was excellent. The kid's menu had great meal choices, but no kid friendly desserts,cookies, etc. When my dessert came the waiter had put a birthday candle in my cheesecake. Also my husband had roses delivered to the restaurant which were given to me with my dessert. A lovely surprise. The Weehawken location's parking lot was under construction but valet parking was quick and pleasant. Despite the cold weather/wind the whole experience left me with a warm feeling. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"I absolutely loved the atmosphere here. Last spring I attended an awards ceremony here for work and was nothing but impressed so me and a friend decided to book a reservation in the main dining area right after the New Year. The service was prompt, my request for a window seat was fulfilled, and the food was exceptional! From the salad to the main course to dessert, each item ordered off the menu was delicious! It's not the cheapest restaurant around but is well worth the money. I would recommend the Chart House in Weehawken to all my friends and family and look forward to dining there again very soon!"

"The Chart House is an upscale chain seafood resturant. This Weehawken location cannot be found on your GPS, but is worth the drive down the dock. It has celing to floor windows which hold the most amazing view of Manhattan and for out-of-towners who like a view this is a must see! The food was very good, but also very expensive, and the seating arrangments do not all provide the best view, unless you luck out with window seating. My family and I have been coming here many years for special occasions and it is well worth it."

"Food was fair. The entrees were good. We had the signature salmon dish and the yellowfin tuna. The calamari appetizer was extremely over cooked, dry, and chewy. The hostess service was great. But dinner service was just average. For what the dinner costs, I expected a much better server. She brought our dinner to the table next to us. It wasn't until they told her that wasn't theirs that she realized she made a mistake. She rarely checked up on us to see how the food was or if we needed another drink. we needed to flag her down. I also noticed 2 other tables had to do the same thing. Overall the view and ambiance is amazing. The food is fair. And the dinner service was what you would expect from applebees."

"Unparalled view of NYC from out window seat! The special weeknight menu made our dinner more affordable. Our group ordered the Clam Chowder, Chopped Salad, Crab Cakes, Shrimp Fresca, Lobster Tail, Herb-Crusted Salmon, etc. and loved everything. (None of the adults ordered the Prime Rib or Steaks simply because we had reservations the next night at a steakhouse.) However, the 2 children in the group ordered Chicken Strips and Prime Rib from the kids menu, but they ended up eating from the adults' plates as the beef was tough and the chicken quite dry. The Creme Brulee was the perfect ending!"

"We took my mother for her 75th birthday. The view of New York was spectacular. We requested a view when we arrived and were told it would be about a 30 minute wait and that was just about how long we had to wait. We took two teenagers, my husband and I along with my mother and we all enjoyed the view and the meal. The food was very good, although I see a lot of complaints on the reviews... just remember you are paying for the view. We had the lobster eggrolls and the mussels - which both were very good. The lobster bisque is just OK. We had filets, shrimp, crab cakes and all was very good. Only not so good meal was my husband's prime rib - it looked like a bad "slice" & he wasn't very impressed. Would recommend for special occasion"

"I Went for NYE AND THE FOOD WAS NOT GREAT IT WAS BLAND AND DIDNT COME OUT HOT! I had the crab crusted mahi mahi and it was soo bland I had to send it bck and it was replaced with shrimp and scallops arrabiata which was better but bland was well. My fiancé had the swordfish which was ok but the sauce on that tasted like general tso sauce. Our appetizers were good. We had the stuffed mushrooms which were excellent but lukewarm and the crab, avocado, mango stack which is a cold appetizer and my fiancé loved it but I was not. The ambience and scenery was absolutely beautiful but I won't be going back for a very long time. The food used to be AMAzing but they are no lonnger making the snapper hemmingway which was beyond good."

"The brunch was great. Everyone in our party of five was very pleased with the food, scenic view of Manhattan and service. We would highly recommend The Chart House. Our request for a Brunch reservation was honored and we were seated without a wait."

"Food was fabulous. The service also fabulous. Very accomodating regarding special food requirements. The only item we were surprised about was the scallop appetizer, there was just one scallop, we expected more for the $12 we paid, possibly 3 scallops would have been better. Will definitely go back."

"Once again we had an outstanding time, Our annual christmas day dinner at the Chart House gets better each and every year we have been there ( 5 years in a row) this will remain a family tradition for us for years to come. The Thai Calamari- best I've had, everyones meal was perfectly done and served to all. Thanks to the all the Staff!
PS: I need to make this a weekly tradition!"

"Been going to this Chart House for over 10 years. Had 6:15 reservations, got seated about 7:00. They apologized and gave us a window seat and a free hot lava cake (much appreciated). The food--although good--isn't what I'd consider, "great". Nothing wrong with it, just nothing special. It used to be special.

The service is always good but it used to be great. No complaints about our server (Jim). Was very friendly and took good care of us. Just not what you expect for the amount of money they're charging for a meal these days.

Honestly, you can get a much better meal (and higher-end service) for the money you're paying elsewhere. If it wasn't for the view and our tradition of going there, we'd go elsewhere."
