"Overall a great dining experience. The service had that extra care you expect from a top restaurant. The menu was specifically personalized for each group. A well thought through menu with fresh ingredients and expert preparation. one of the best fine dining experiences I had in Fairfield County. We will definitely be back and will bring friends. A delight for organic minded individuals as well!"

"Food is fantastic, wonderful presentation. Small quaint space, but very very noisy, as conversations seem to get louder and louder. Needs some soundproofing on the ceiling. $10 rose wine goes for $40, but I guess that is the standard markup."

"Really lovely spot in an out of the way Wilton location. Young, talented and ambitious chef. Menu has a small selection of entrees but there is something for everyone. The pairings of flavors in the entrees are very different but they combine well and nothing seems to be added just to be "trendy". Service is excellent and the decor is elegantly minimalist. A nice find! We will be back."

"The food was excellent; the service even better. From the moment we arrived, we felt like VIP's. It's a small restaurant, only 36-40 seats +/-, which allows them to focus on a small group. Consequently the service, the quality of the food, the preparation and the presentation were all excellent. We loved it and will definitely return!"

"This was the second time that we had dined at The Schoolhouse at Cannondale. The first time we went with friends who recommended the restaurant and we didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be an amazingly sophisticated kitchen in a quaint, relaxed and out of the way location. The choices are not vast, but are interesting and varied. The first time I had duck that was absolutely divine, this time a lamb that was equally wonderful (and I am not even a huge fan of lamb). The beet ravioli appetizer was not what you'd expect, being prepared in a deliciously clever way. The wine list is perfect. The staff is accomodating and attentive in a slightly humorous manner which is refreshing in a restaurant of this caliber. Go and enjoy!!"

"The best food we have had in years, and we have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Fairfield County. Absolutely wonderful! Served in an attractive, relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere. "The ambiance and food was excellent, except for,in one case, of the food. We both ordered the beef entree and in both plates the beef was fatty and worse, gristly. This was surprising because the serving are so small, it doesn't seem as though it would be very hard to control the quality of the beef. Every other thing served was excellent.

The other thing that ruined the "experience" was that an employee, maybe a waiter (?), had two, pro-longed conversations with the adjoining table. He seemed to have a personal relationship with them, outside of the restaurant. This was a problem because the tables are very close and he was talking (literally) over my shoulder. I could not communicate with my wife while he was there."

"Wonderfully fresh, exquisitely prepared food. The beet ravioli was delicious as was the fluke crudo and the braised short ribs. A delicate cheese plate with honey and caramel panna cotta finished off the meal. Superb wine list and fresh bread was to die for. Wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Despite being quite busy on a Saturday evening the place had a romantic atmosphere and the noise level quieted down as the evening wore on (after 8:30). Plan on going back again - perhaps in the summer for an alfresco experience."

"The food at the Schoolhouse was perfection; wonderful flavors and combinations of ingredients. The menu is innovative taking advantage of local growers and everything is artistically presented. The service was mediocre, at best. The noise level was high as the restaurant was full on a Saturday night and it was difficult to hear the conversation at our table. The atmosphere is charming in an old schoolhouse and done in sophisticated, pleasing colors. I would go back, but avoid the weekends to hope for better service and less noise."

"I thought that this restaurant was amazing! Great service, amazing food, beautiful presentation. Also, the setting was so pretty - beautifully decorated! "We went to the Schoolhouse for dinner and loved it, so we returned for Valentine's Brunch. Brunch was a disaster. They had a one course $30 prix fixe menu that consisted of normal breakfast items: 4/5 of the items contained eggs, bacon, or sausage. And you had a choice of a side dish, which was either scrambled eggs, bacon, or sausage. This felt uninspired, since I didn't want eggs or bacon on the side of my bacon quiche. Nothing on the menu had any of the "in season today" items they had listed on their blackboard. The dessert was extra and also wasn't "in season today." The burger was actually good, but the quiche was burnt and not remarkable at all. We were very disappointed by what we got, especially for the price. It wasn't special"

"We ate at the The Schoolhouse on a Thursday when they offer 4 courses for $40.00. There were two choices for each course, all were excellent and wines were paired with the courses, also great choices and the coffee was French press. The waitstaff were extremely attentive. A nice touch was the menu which had a person form each group's name printed on the menu as if it were made especially for them. A small restaurant, in a small town which a great chef, Tim Leblant makes world class."

"The very best food we've had in years throughout the NYC area -- and it's a tiny little one room schoolhouse in a small New England town! Very nice service and wonderfully paired wines. "The chef adapted the tasting menu for my vegetarian partner, and we thought it was one of the best meals we've had in some time. The artichoke soup was assertive but balanced and hearty. The local oysters with blood-orange cumin sorbet were inventive, though the sorbet almost gave the impression that the very chilled oysters were slightly frozen. The next course brought a delicious and beautifully composed salad whose ingredients I've since forgotten because I was so enamored the foie gras torchon with pickled ramps and candied orange relish, which was nothing short of heavenly. The third course brought a plate of beet raviolis that we're still talking about and a dish of shortrib with celery root puree that was cooked to perfection."

"This restaurant is truly an old schoolhouse. The chef is a gem, he has--with care and training--retained a very smalll staff of youngsters who are knowledgeable and very capable. It is clear this is a labor of love for him and the food reflects it. While limited in scope, the menu offers something for every palate. I have eaten here on at least 4 or 5 occasions over the last few years and I--and my various companions--are always delighted. During warmer weather, one can dine outside in a lovely setting. It is a bit pricey but the use of local ingredients, the care, skill and talent that goes into each dish is worth every cent. I love it and will continue to enjoy the fabulous fare for as long as they continue to offer it. Bravo!"

"This a a very small, charming old schoolhouse dining room. Our friends shared the artisan cheese plate which was artfully selected cheeses each with an accompanying condiment such as macerated walnut or special raisons. We shared the scallop over quinoa appetizer which was perfection. The papardelle pasta with brocolli rabe sent me into heavenly orbit, the lola duck was amazing, and both men had fish on a bed of lentils that was indescribably delicious. The wine was great, the bread was great, and the chocolate souffle which we all shared was divine. The service was attentive, knowledgable, but not stuffy, and the chef cared enough to stop by our table. I am not one to rave, but this restaurant is a gem, and I can't wait to go back."

"The food was the best we've had ever there. Across the board, the dishes were executed perfectly, and there was a really nice variety of offerings. The lobster pappardelle was amazing. I don't know how he cooked the lobster, but it was so tender and delicious. The lamb with gnocchi was also really nice. Yum!"

"twas my girlfriend 41st b-day, the food was great, the service great, and the wine list perfect. I was very impressed with Chef Labants f-o-h views all men. Very bold and daring. It worked, my girlfriend and i were very impressed. Food was seasoned properly and there was no S&P on the table. I LOVE that. I would eat there again and again, at the end of the second turn Chef came and spoke to all of his guests. Way to go Chef, you actually cared about our dining expieriance. THANX"

"My wife and I are always looking for good restaurant in CT. This restaurant was suggested to us by a friend. We live 45 min away from this little restaurant, but my friend's impression was so positive that we gve it a shot. The first time we went the experience was extremely positive. So much, infact that we decided it was the best restaurant we have tried so far in CT (and we have tried quite a bit of restaurants in the year that we have moved in the area) We decided to go a second time (as we usually do to look for consistency). The second time was not as outstanding as the first time. Nevertheless the overall experience is still very good and I higly recommend this little charming place."

"Truly one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We have known about it for quite a while, but were waiting for a very special occasion to go. We were fortunate to have been given a wonderful and generous gift for our recent wedding and so we worked in a Wednesday evening. We know a reservation can be hard to come by on the weekends. Try and go during the week if possible as it was very quiet and I'm sure business can be slow on the weekdays evenings during the winter. It was perfect. The wine list isn't extensive, but complete enough to have good choices for all wine lovers. Our meals were absolutely wonderful! Who knew we had a 5-star experience awaiting us virtually in our backyard! Go!!!!!"

"Our 3rd visit and 2nd dinner, we celebrated New Year's Eve at the Schoolhouse. On our first two visits, the service matched the food in it's excellence but we were one of only a few tables for both. For the early seating at New Year's Eve, a full house, we were seated in the far corner. Sadly, the level of service dropped. This was unfortunate for a special dinner at a special pr$$ce. The service was still friendly and knowledgable, we just didn't see them as often as you'd expect. We had to ask for bread and then never got a chance to ask for a second piece. We then had to call over our waiter to ask for coffee/tea after our desserts were served/dropped off at our table. The chef then missed our table in his rounds. Busy night."

"Our meal Saturday night was excellent--my husband said the Jerusalem artichoke soup appetizer was the best soup he had ever had and he has eaten in a lot of restaurants! Our group had the pork tenderloin, the bison hanger steak, the pappardelle with lobster and the squab. All were superb, especially with their accompanying vegetables. The chocolate souffle was magnificent--my son took a photo with his cell phone. It was sublimely decadent--I have never had caramel sauce like that. Can't wait to go again!"

"A eco-gastronomic's dream, we loved our time at the Schoolhouse! Fantastic food with great morals to boot! Service and ambiance was elegant in the quaint dining room.

We are away from Fairfield county now for college, but are saving and will be returning during a different season to taste more of Tim's delights."

"Fantastic place to eat. The service was extremely prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. The chef even came out of the kitchen at one point to ask us how everything was and to thank us for coming. Our menus were custom made (had my name at the top). Highly recommended."

"We had a nice experience at the Schoolhouse at Cannondale. My expectations, from reviews I have read, were that the restaurant was more of a fine dining establishment. It is a charming, but casual, renovated one room schoolhouse. The food was very good, service was fine but the noise level was very high. We were caught off guard by the gingerbread dessert, which was more of a gingerbread, pineapple, kettle corn and sorbet smoothie concoction in a parfait glass. Interesting but we would have preferred a twist on a more traditional presentation on a cold night.

We will be back!"

"This restaurant is a real gem. Set in a charming antique one room school house, it is very small something around 30 seats (if that). All of us loved our meals. I started with a selection of artisanal cheeses which we all wonderful, beautifully presented, and served at the proper temperature. For a main course I had steak with barley. The combination was surprisingly wonderful. The wine list is small but with some excellent choices at reasonable markups. Service was pretty much perfect. It is pricey but in my opinion worth. Easily one of the very best restaurants in Fairfield County."
