"I thought an Italian restaurant was deemed authentic if it had: Italian waitstaff and Italian patrons. That must have been a COMPLETE lie. I brought my mother and father here for Mother's Day. We ordered 2 items off the Mother's Day special menu, one off the regular menu and a "chopped salad." All of the dishes were exceptionally boring. The salad was was not chopped and had absolutely no taste. The eggplant parmigiana was okay, but there was barely one piece of eggplant. The frittata was dry and cold and the chicken "panino" was a single piece of not thoroughly cooked chicken thrown between two slices of bread and not pressed or warmed at all.
Overall, entirely dull and a boring Mother's Day brunch for my anything-but-boring mother."

"I enjoyed the atmosphere in this smallish Italian bistro but was very disappointed by a tasteless salad..the Branzino was excellent and I would have given a higher rating had it not been for the salad, Also the bread could have been better."

"Very good food always. Veal Milanese, a regular special, is tops and is offered two ways. Other dishes and apps are worth the wait. Service is desultory and unskilled. If Per Lei has figured out how to make a tasty meal, why can't they figure out how to serve it in a professional and timely way?"

"The ricotta pancakes are very great and the brunch menu is amazing. I went here twice and the pancakes were amazing both times. My friends also liked going here for brunch and enjoyed their sandwiches."

"The room is great for lunch or brunch, with high ceilings and huge glass doors to let a lot of light in. At night, the beautiful chandelier gives it a more elegant atmosphere. The menu is extensive with all the tartars and carpaccios fresh and flavorful. The service is always friendly and attentive. I have only had delicious food. If able they are willing to tailor thew food to your likingThank goodness the second avenue subway didn't scare them away"

"8 of my friends joined me for a birthday brunch and for the most part our experience was good. I have been to Per Lei before and enjoyed the experience.
On This date, the restaurant was quiet with only a few other tables occupied. The service was very good, very friendly and attentive. One person ordered a Bloody Mary and it was terrible,transparent and strong. She sent it back butit was returned to her unimproved. I enjoyed my food as did all but one of us, and I didn't get the details.
I would go back to Per Lei, I love the decor and the art. My linguine with white clam sauce was great, not too salty and my past experiences were always great."

"Lovely, knowledgable waitstaff, friendly hostess, thoughtful food -- drawback is that it is right across from Second Avenue subway construction -- however, we did not hear the noise inside and the inside is so cozy that we had a lovely evening"

"The food was delicious and service was not compromised even though it was a very busy Valentine's Day. The only strike against the ambiance was the crowd of people waiting in the small restaurant t space for their table. They could have taken fewer reservations to minimize the overflow"
