Petits Plats is a very pretty French bistro located in a town house directly across from the Woodley Park metro stop, the Marriott Wardman and Omni Shoreham Hotels. Step inside and you will find affordable delicious food in a very romantic atmosphere. On cold days, dining next to one of the 4 wood burning fireplaces is a nice touch.
Summer time, enjoy the great view sitting outside in our private patio: watching the passersby on busy Connecticut avenue is a major amusement!
"My wife and I had Mother's Day supper at Petit Plats, our first visit. The bistro was charming with a nice, calm atmosphere and excellent service. The food was good, but we were a little disappointed by the value. Perhaps we should have been warned by the restaurant name (Petit Plats). A $15 appetizer of terrine of foie gras, for example, provided a disk perhaps 1.5 inches in diameter by 3/4 inches thick of foie gras, plus pieces of brioche and jam. The foie gras was tasty, but the serving size was disappointing. Our main courses were well prepared and attractively presented, but were not really standouts. No serious complaints, but neither was it that memorable."

"Met with a colleague who was managing a conference at the Marriott. Great food, very helpful staff with a flair for French food. I would recommend this, especially for those staying at the Marriott Wardman. A great escape from hotel food!"

"came here because we were too exhausted to travel far from hotel after a long day. this place reminds me of a touristy restaurant that i would never go to in NY. everything looks a bit run down. food for just ok but not worth the price they were charging. servers were attentive. i don't understand all the high reviews unless that means DC just has lower standard for good eats. it was fine but i wouldn't go back."

"It was a cool, drizzly Thursday evening and we were reminiscing about mussels enjoyed in Bruges. We entered the door of Petits Plats and what did we see? Big steaming bowls of mussels and golden crisp frites! And they tasted as good as they looked! Heaven. Good wine selections to compliment their menu, as well."

"This neighborhood gem in Adams Morgan (close to the zoo) is a little bit of France. It is a bistro style restaurant that serves excellent food in the simple French bistro style. They do have outdoor seating, though we did not do this on either visit. It was a little chilly for our taste. The downstairs is quiet. But the upstairs would be a great place for a large group to have a fun time. The two times we were there, the upstairs was lively. They have a standard menu and daily (maybe weekly) specials. If the seafood combination over mushroom risotto is available--be sure to try it. It was heavenly. We all ordered different things each time and found everything delicious--obviously fresh ingredients prepared to perfection!"

"One of our favorite restaurants in DC. Authentic French without the pretensions. Good menu, attractive presentation. Interesting wine list, moderately priced. Relaxed ambiance. Very friendly service."

"I've been going here for over a decade and have never been disappointed. This underappreciated local gem serves authentic French food in a casual, homey atmosphere. Best eggs benedict anywhere."

"The food here is delicious, and the service is attentive. Only downside is that they participate in LivingSocial/Groupon deals, but can't honor the voucher past the expiration date for the paid value (which is supposedly guaranteed) because they don't have the proper scanning equipment. Regardless, I'd go back."

"This restaurant is well located in a neighborhood with a very pleasant atmosphere inside and out. Based on reviews that lead me to make the reservation I had higher expectations of the food at Petits Plats. Everything was good enough but didn't impress. I would give it another try just to make sure it wasn't a bad day at the restaurant or my jet lag determining the outcome."

"Consistently very good. Had a nice lunch there on a warm Spring day. Several people were sitting outside (small area of tables on Connecticut Ave sidewalk, also a couple outside tables up a level). But we sat inside next to window - nice, airy, and bright. We couldn't have asked for more gracious and knowledgeable service. Great split pea soup and seafood salad - nicely cooked seafood. Friend had huge pile of mussels accompanied by good fries. All very delightful! will definitely continue to return."

"Had a lovely meal here. The place is small and rather cramped, but has a nice atmosphere. For appetizers, we ordered escargot and beet salad. The escargot was great and the beet salad was also good but a bit on the scimpy side (they need to provide more). For entrees, we had the short ribs and the wild rockfish - both were great. The dessert (apple tart) was yummy. Also, we really appreciated the fact that wines by the glass were quite generous. Definitely will return!"

"Been to Petits Plats many times over the years. The food and atmosphere are are consistently excellent. The hosts were warm and welcoming as always. In general, the service is also excellent with servers who are professional and also personable. On this occasion, the 2 male servers were rather lackluster - nothing went wrong, but they added nothing to the experience. I'll go back, though. I always enjoy the experience."

"We were visiting Washington DC on a family vacation and stayed across the street at the Marriott Wardman. We really enjoyed a Friday night dinner at Petits Plats - the food was excellent - so was the wine and a very reasonably priced wine list too. The setting is quaint and cozy. We enjoyed it so much we returned on Easter Sunday for our brunch which was incredible. $3 mimosas & the very best Eggs Benedict I've ever had. We will want to return during out next stay at the Wardman."

"Beef bourguignon melts in your mouth. Be careful not to lick the plate as this is a romantic and sophisticated restaurant. The staff makes you feel completely at home and at ease. The food is mouth watering. Favorites include the soups, the endive salad, the pan seared scallops and the beef bourguignon. Do not hesitate to try this restaurant it will become a favorite."

"This was my first visit to Petits Plats. The dining area is nice, although does not give the feel of a "high end" place. Service was attentive and professional. The lunch menu was on the small side, unless you wanted one of various pizza options offered. Pizza in a French brasserie seems an odd direction? We stuck to the French offerings. My garlic mussels were a delicous starter. Other dining companions enjoyed the French Onion soup. My salmon main was accompanied with ratatoullet was excellent. The special dessert tarte tatin was simply terrific. Overall, I was quite impressed by Petits Plats and would certainly stop in and give the larger dinner menu a go."

"Ate hear while staying at the nearby Marriott Wardman Park hotel, and was happily surprised to have a great meal. The neighborhood is not a fine dining neighborhood, but this French Bistro is a real gem. Definitely will be returning the next time I am in the area."

"We were so lucky to find Petits Plats among all the mediocre places on Conn Ave. My husband & I have had many fine meals in France & Italy, & my husband, who doesn't often make superlative statements, said the moules were the BEST he had ever had. Additionally the other two adults and one child were very pleased with their meals. On the negative side, the wood-burning fireplace cascaded smoke from time to time in the dining room. And there was a diner who was having a loud cell phone conversation at his table which only he found to be profoundly amusing. Wait staff should be able to ask diners step out. Excellent food. Comfortable, European ambiance. Superior service."

"What a great evening, including the perfectly cooked foie gras, our various main courses and the real french floating islands for dessert. The kitchen here has substantially matured in the last 18 months, and the restaurant does a really outstanding job. Also, the real, genuine wood fireplaces make it a very comforting and cosy evening."

"We had a great brunch at Petit Plats. The service was non-intrusive and the food was very good; all of us cleaned our plates!
I did not appreciate the fact that they decided to light all the wood-burning fireplaces (at least 3) just after we arrived. While many people may like them for ambiance, the smoke backed up a bit and the air quality in the restaurant was diminished."

"We enjoyed the ambience of the place, good for a Valentine's Day dinner - romantic, and not excessively noisy. That there was only a limited menu selection that night was a bit of a surprise, but there was a reasonable range of choices. The quality of the food was mixed - appetizers so-so, main courses excellent, desserts disappointing. The major flaw was the service - missing a bread plate (eventually brought), silverware (had to get up and chase down someone to get it). Main courses brought before we finished appetizers, significant delay on the desserts. Frankly, I expected better from the restaurant, at which I had eaten once before."

"Warm fire, romantic setting, great wine and food, friendly service... what more could you ask for? Okay... the prices are a little bit on the steep side, but not over the top for DC. If that's a concern take the Metro (right across the street) and save yourself cab fare. You'll be glad you did."
