"We've eaten at Anthony's many times before although not for some time. I'm hoping our experience was atypical but while the food was very good the service was really not up to the level we had come to expect. It almost felt that Anthony's is coasting on its reputation. The service we experienced was very slow. For example, it took a very long time for the wine we ordered to be delivered and then we waited for the server to take our food order. There were many service people in the dining room which was not at all busy and yet we sat with empty plates after we were done for a very, very long time. It seemed that no one other than our particular server could even clear our plates, which seemed very odd."

"There was not no who greeted us everyone seem to be busy. The place was hot in side on a 94 degree temperature outside. The lamp on the table had rust on it. The theme inside of the restaurant was out dated. Especially, the wait staff uniform reminding me of the staff on the "Love Boat" with brown sleeves. Most of the items on the menu was not available, very limited to eat and way over priced. The one good thing about the place was the view of the ocean nearby. What a waste of time and money."

"Love the old school feel of this restaurant. Servers in formal attire and beautiful building. The barbis quaint and the bartenders have been there for years. Lotsnof great stories to share. "Even after so many dinners and special times we still love Anthony's! I am sure our group will be dining there again

"The food and service were wonderful and even on a relatively unspectacular day weather-wise, the view was still wonderful.

"From the min we walked in to the restaurant --greeted with a frown and set down with not even a smirk, to the waiter who said "are you ready to order" without even greeting us and promoting any food, to the guy who cleared the dishes with a clink and less than a frown, to the cashier who could have cared less how much we spent, this was clearer not a place any of us would ever visit again!"

"My husband and I have treasured Anthony's Hawthorn By The Sea in Swampscott for thirty five years. It is our go to place for romance and to celebrate special occasions. For many years we didn't share our special place with the rest of the family, but when the kids got old enough they too wanted to experience the ocean view while eating the prime rib and warm popovers. So it became the place they choose to go for high school graduation dinners and Easter. The food and service has alway been excellent. We've make it a place to get dressed up for, and to take the time to enjoy a slow relaxed dinner in good company. In all these years we've never had a bad experience there, so I give it five stars for the memories. Thank You"

"We went to Anthony's as a last resort--too late to reserve anywhere else for our group for Easter. Our last experience, also on a holiday, had left us not wanting to return: poor service, very slow service, and extremely high prices for the quality of the food. However, this experience was better. We were seated in a prime spot, with beautiful views. The prices seemed a little more reasonable, and the food was fine. Not great, but fine. The waitress was a bit surly; I wished we'd had one of the other wait staff, who generally seemed friendlier. Perhaps she didn't want to work on Easter.

For this occasion, it was good. Would I go back on a regular basis? No."

"The waiter got everything wrong. The worst service I have ever received in a fine dining restaurant.

First the waiter came back to the table because he couldn't remember what my husband ordered. Then, when my husband's food came out we realized that he hadn't put in my order at all. He said that it would only take 5 minutes to get it out. We waited for at least 20 minutes. By that time I wasn't hungry anymore, but I tasted the meal and it was mediocre and lukewarm.

I can't believe that they didn't comp us at least a portion of the check, or give us some sort of coupon so that they could make it up to us next time. Not only are we unlikely to return, we will probably tell our friends about the bad experience."
