Incorporating towering, adobe-like wall fragments at the entry hall of Union Station, intricate mosaic surfaces of turquoise glass, and a menu reflecting the many cultures that have influenced the region, Thunder Grill is a visual and culinary celebration of the American Southwest.
"The service was prompt and the food was good. Went during happy hour so it was a little noisy inside but what would you expect on a Friday! Would definitely return."

"We had an early evening reservation and this may be a very bad time since all of the commuters are either passing through the station or trying to drown a bad day at the office. The reservation was made on a lark because they advertise themselves as a southwestern emphasis to their menu and it had been many years. They are about as much southwestern as Austin Grill is Tex-Mex and the food is about the same quality. I might go back for lunch if I were in the area but I would not go out of my way to return."

"Soon as we walked in no one was their to greet us. We has to find a hostess and a reserved seat. The waiter took a while to get to us and once the order came we had no silverware on the table. Couldn't find anyone to help us so we finally went to hostess table no one there so we had to go o bar. Noone ever came around to offer refills or check on our order. Food tastes okay but had better."

"For a birthday celebration,my long-time friend and I chose Thunder Grill mainly due to its proximity to 1)my office and 2) her train. This high-traffic restaurant is the descendent of other restaurants' space (remember Sfuzzi's anyone?)and it shows -- the table and chairs reflect wear and tear and the table needed a wipe. Having said that, however, I will be back for the grilled tuna wrap special. It was so simply delicious that I clearly lost my head to my tastebuds, forgot the admonition to eat just half and so therefore happily enjoyed my gustatory birthday celebration. And the accompanying slaw, with it yin-yang taste of tart and cream, would have sufficed as a replacement side instead of the obligaory fries."

"This is a great location (inside the grand Union Station) but the food does not hold up to the environment. Mediocre at best. The burgers looked like they had been made on an assembly line and pulled out of the freezer to cook. The only good thing was the beer. So a good place to stop for a beer and some chips before you head out to part yonder. Not a destination restaurant, however."

"I've been to Thunder Grill several times, and have enjoyed each visit except for this last visit. The food was uneventful, and the service was below par compared to my past experiences. Maybe they were having an off day."

"Food was very good, but be aware they will NOT do separate checks. We had a party of 15 that we booked a reservation for, and was not notified until we were ordering that they would not split the bill. Our server tried to accommodate us, but service was very poor from that point forward. Probably would have been OK with a small party, but I would not recommend for groups. No drink refills, wrong food orders, food came out 20 minutes apart, etc."

"Had the Southwest Chopped Salad. The contents were fresh delicious and flavorful and carried the dish despite the timid bland dressing. Whisky sour was grey and came with a lemon slice (???) but the sherry hit the spot. Our waiter was efficient, and, if anything a bit too attentive interrupting our conversation to check on us several times more than necessary. The atmosphere is comfortable and lively and noisy but the booth with a view of the station promenade was private and conversation could be heard by raising our voices slightly. Overall a bit pricy though had the dressing and whisky sour been better, I think it would go on the "A" list as a local favorite place. It remains a good pick when when taking the metro."

"Service was horrible. Ignored by waitress after we ordered. She did not bring thje food, or follow up. Asking for things like extra dressing was a big deal and took too long. Our soup bowls were not cleared when the entrees arrived. The descriptions of the dishes on the menu was rather different than what arrived."
