Malio's Prime Steak House was opened in 1969 by none other than Malio himself providing only the finest hand cut steaks, fresh caught seafood, premium wine and spirits and great service.
Today, every individual who walks through the door will still receive the same high level of service, the finest foods and premium wine and spirits at Tampa's newest old premier family owned restaurant.
"The overall experience was pleasant and except for the Chateaubriand being a bit saltier and peppery than we remembered but the texture was like it used to be at the original Dale Mabry location. The bread was fantastic, the veggies, soups and salads perfect, but creme brule was only fair and not up to the price or the experience."

"My boyfriend and I recently dined at Malios this past Saturday evening. We found the food and service to be very enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and attentive. My boyfriend ordered Prime Rib and I ordered the 6 oz Filet. My boyfriend was disappointed to find that they were out of Prime Rib and he re-selected the Filet. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was overall a very enjoyable experience and would recommend Malios to my friends."

"Great service and Oysters Malio's and salads were very good. We ordered the Chateaubriand steak for 2 "Pittsburgh-style" medium rare. As we watched our server cut it up, it was clear it was well done, other than the very center, which had a tiny bit of pink, making it, at best, medium well in the center only. Because of our time limitations (concert), there was nothing we could do, although we were a bit surprised the server didn't notice (or maybe he did and just realized it was a lost cause). My wife, who generally enjoys steaks closer to medium and is pretty reserved, remarked, "Whoever cooked that steak pretty much ruined a great piece of meat." Pretty disappointed to say the least. Have had good experiences in the past with Malio's."

"Since I had visited the Malio's on Dale Mabry many times over the years, I thought I would try the New Malio's Prime in downtown Tampa. I was terribly disappointed! The service was adequate. The food (for all six of us) was barely luke warm. I did tell the waiter that our food was not hot and he took mine back to the kitchen. When it came back, it tasted like it had been put in a microwave. The waiter was not that concerned that our food was not hot, so I think it may be the norm. The prices are high, especially for what you get for your money. I had heard it was not very good, but thought I would try it for myself. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else."

"The food was less than mediocre as was the service. We had to ask our server for refills 4 or five times. Our food took forever to comes out. Very unhappy for the amount of money we spent. I will not return here."

"This visit was probably my most disappointing, the filet just did not seem up to par previous times i had attended and there was almost no flavor to the steak or the grilled potatoes. The tomato bisque soup was a new find, very tasty though a tad spicy. The bread loaves were still impeccable."

"Great pasta, seafood, and steaks (try the filet!) with a view of the river and University of Tampa. Also, the key lime pie may be the best in Tampa. I highly recommend Malio's to everyone."

"My husband and I had a groupon we wanted to give a try so, we used it for our date night. We had a fun evening out and everything was great! Besides the "old"/dry baked potato my husband received, everything tasted delicious and was right on with presentation and temperature."

"My husband and I enjoyed our night out at Malios. Our rib eyes were great. Nice views, if you get a table by the window. Overall, a great first impression. My only complaint is, it's a bit too noisy for a romantic dinner."

"Service was inattentive; I think server forgot our order so food was super-late. They were out of chateaubriands, although the filet was good. We will give them another try but there are lots of great restaurants for steak in Tampa."

"We have been going to Malio's since 2000 when they were on Dale Mabry. Unfortunately they are off the list for dining and entertaining clients now. We waited an hour and half (ordered at 8:10 and food arrived at 9:40) for our meal and when it arrived it was incorrect. Our server told us that they had a big party and were struggling to serve everybody. We talked to the manager in a non-confrontational way to say "this was really bad" and much to our surprise, he seemed not to care. We were not offered free drinks, dessert, or anything to try make up for the truly awful service. It is hard to believe that a restaurant would be so indifferent to the customer experience."

"Reading some of the reviews ahead of time had me wondering if this place would be any good. While the place is a bit noisy as was pointed out, I found the service and the food to be very good. The noise was typical for a downtown restaurant. Good menu to choose from, quality ingredients prepared that way they are supposed to be prepared. A good experience."

"Flavor all around, service outstanding. Tables are tight, noise a little high but did not take away fom the energy. Ribeye was perfect with lemon butter, French onion soup was full and rich. House salad unique, with onion and crumbled blue cheese."

"Although the food was pretty good I would recommend trying Berns or Ocean's Prime over Malios. There are in the same price range however I feel as though they offer a little more unique experience and better service. Although the server made good recommendations, when asked, it seemed as though he did the bare minimum. I feel like they put us at a crummy table because we were not regulars and had made reservations on open table."

"We've been to Malio's several times now and always get their filet. The melt in your mouth steaks are exceptional. pre-order they offer complimentary bread that is just the right amount of soft, crunchy, flavored topped off with a lightly salted butter. Always a great way to treat yourself and others for an excellent meal, whether it be for business or pleasure."

"Service was great, server had worked there for 22 years so she was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Food however was underwhelming for the price. Plus it was a Friday night night and the place was nearly empty which can never be a good sign. There are far better restaurants in Tampa for the money."

"Took my wife to Malio's for our anniversary dinner two weeks ago. Dinner was horrible. I DO NOT complain! Steak tartare had no flavor. Salads pedestrian. 40 oz Porterhouse to share ordered Med Rare came out close to MW. Told the server I ordered Med Rare. Steaks go away for a re-cook, mgr takes my bone away too! 10 minutes later a seperate NY Strip and a filet mignon are delivered to the table with my same bone! Side of crab or lobster & smoked gouda mac & cheese had indiscernable amounts of either. I've wanted to go to Malio's for years. I'll never go back. Food was bland and not cooked properly. Management didn't care. Obviously ownership has lost touch and the kids they have running it don't give a darn. I paid every penny. Never again."

"We ordered a bottle of wine off of the featured list. Waiter came back and told us they were out of it. Ordered another bottle of wine with the same result, waiter came back and told us they were out of it. Third time was a charm. Ordered a porterhouse steak for two and were told about 10 minutes later they were out of that as well. Sliced tomatoes in salad were too ripe. Filets were overcooked. Service was acceptable. Inventory control and kitchen seem to be the problem."

"The restaurant is definitely a hot spot and the view outside is one of a kind. We sat at a booth in the bar and the service was pretty good, although the bartender took care of us because the server was nowhere to be found. I loved the environment and the location. The food was decent, but it just lacked the edge that makes you leave wanting more. Each course of the meal was slightly disappointing. The Caesar salad was vey tar and french onion soup actually tasted too much like onion. The crab cake app was good, but seemed very premade. The steaks were a little bland and the mac n cheese side was as well. The jalapeno creamed corn was not good. The creme brulee and the ice cream cake were both ok, but nothing to write home about"

"Our entrees were disappointing. I splurged on the $34 Sea Bass, and expected it to be wonderful. It was small, thin and not that tasty. My husband's prime rib (12 oz cut) had so much fat on it that at least a third of it was inedible. Otherwise, we enjoyed our other food, our wine, the service and the ambiance."
