"But I wasn't wowed. I ordered the salmon tartine salad. The salmon tasted a little fishy and was not noteworthy otherwise; the salad was missing both the beets and the easter egg radish described in the menu. Which left greens, pickled onions, and the tartine. I asked after the beets and received a bowl of diced beets to add to the salad. I didn't bother with the radish, but I was disappointed. My lunch date ordered the lamb, was told after ordering that they were out. I had that. The ragu bolognese looked pretty good; my lunch date said it was fine."

"My wife and I wanted to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary by getting out of Boulder and trying something new so we headed to Niwot. I was a little reluctant b/c Boulder has so many restaurants we haven't tried but my wife insisted. The restaurant is in a quaint part of Niwot. We sat outside by the herb garden for the ambiance and listened to a jazz trio occasionally interrupted by passing teens. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I highly recommend it."

"Between the perfect shaded spot on the roomy patio, the great live music, exceptional food, innovative drinks and excellent service - this was our best brunch experience ever! The "Breakfast In Bed" cocktail is fantastic! All brunch entress were excellent - from the daily special omelet of chevre, avacado and bacon, the special benedict with filet mignon, the tilapia with mussels, the beignets and the kid's burgers through to deserts of macaroon, creme brulee and salted chocolate caramel torte - all exceeded our expectations. The servers, manager and mixologist are all real professionals - friendly, attentive and polished. The accoustic music on the porch made the meal perfect!"

"We chose to eat at Coltera as a special for our last night in the Boulder area. We had soup (tomato bisque with a goat cheese grilled cheese) that was excellent. We also had the sea bass and the vegetable sampler and both were really good. M son had the strip ste4ak but found it to be fatty. I had the Steak Two Ways and while the grilled steak was also fatty, the steak wrapped in the Cannelloni was wonderful. Services was great and very attentive. The outdoor seating area is large but it was too chilly for us to eat outdoors. We enjoyed the sorbet and different coffees for dessert. I'm not sure we would return with all the other options in the area but it was definitely worth the trip."

"I usually enjoy going to Colterra. It is our favorite restaurant as a family. This past Mother's Day was an exception :(. Four of us went to Colterra on Mother's Day and were slightly disappointed in what they had to offer. The brunch was mainly breakfast and was extremely over-priced. We have had many brunches there in the past, and have always had exceptional meals. Mother's day seemed to be double the normal price and less choices. The service as always was exceptional. The ambience wonderful. Just disappointed in the price this time."

"Colterra really knows fresh food and how to cook it. It is not one of those places that hurries you in and out. The food is delicious and healthy and the service is impeccable. It's tucked away in a little picturesque town called Niwot. The only reason I hesitate is I don't want it to be so popular that you have to wait a month to get in. You can take the noisy or vibrant hot spots and give me Colterra where you have the peace to really enjoy your food. Bob appetite."

"We visited Colterra on Mother's Day for brunch. Given the day and the fact that the brunch menu was priced at $40 per person (before beverages, tax and gratuity) our expectations were fairly high. The service was incredibly slow and lacked any sincere interest in us. The food was pretty good; however, by the time most of our items arrived they were warm or in the case of our dessert, the ice cream was a puddle on the plate."

"Colterra is the farm-to-table gem of the greater Denver-Boulder area. The food is so seasonal and fresh. It's presented beautifully and with integrity. Service varies but is not ever bad. The patio is just lovely. Dine there if weather permits. You won't be disappointed."

"The Hazel Dell Mushroom Scramble never disappoints....always fresh tasting and delicious every time I order it! (I usually order without the cheese). The fresh lemonade was also terrific...not too sweet or too tart. The Cinnamon Griddle Cakes were good, nothing special though, except for the mascarpone creme...I could eat a bowl of it!"

"We had our son's University of Colorado/Boulder post graduation celebration at this restaurant. The food was superb. Everyone in our party of 12 had an excellent meal. They were able to accommodate our diverse party for ages 2 to 86. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a great meal!"

"Service was unusually slow, but they were very busy. We would have ordered a second bottle of wine for the group, but no one came to ask. Noise level was uncomfortably high. We could not hear each other. Again, we have not had this problem before, and it was very busy. We will definitely go back. Delicious food, as usual!"

"The food was wonderful, the restaurant was lively and the servers were attentive. But there was no one there who could answer questions about the wine list! It was awkward to watch our server try to recruit other servers to answer our questions on a very busy night. What a shame not to get help selecting the right bottle to accompany such a lovely dinner."

"The food was very good. The appitizers, main corse and deserts were very tasty. One issue with the food was a bone found in my fish . Sometimes this just happens. However when mentioned to the waiter, it didn't go any further than that. The manager or Chef never roached the table to appoligize. The poor service part was centered around being seated. We arrived 10 min. before our reservation time. The hostess said that we were early and that we would have to wait 10 min. We were alright with that until we were being seated and we noticed that there was only two tables being occupied at this time. There were several tables available for seating."

"The food and wine list were excellent. We had a 7:00 reservation on a Weds night but had to wait a few minutes for our table. The restaurant was very busy and service was slow. Perhaps we should have been ready for leisurely dining at a relaxed pace. It was also noisy at first, because there were happy people laughing and talking loudly at tables near us."

"We had to wait about 5 minutes before a host finally acknowledged us. They asked us to sit at the bar until they could seat us. That seemed strange because there were many empty tables. We waited about 10 more minutes and then found out they were waiting for an outdoor table for us. No one had asked us our preference and we did not want to be outside. We got seated immediately and from that point on it was a very pleasurable lunch...just noisy (not energetic)."

"Best brunch/dining experience in years! The brunch menu was innovative and featured all locally sourced ingredients. The tilapia was fantastic, the beignets were excellent and the egg dishes were well prepared and served nice and hot. For dessert, the salted chocolate caramel torte was incredible! The server was professional, personable and fun. The brunch cocktails were creative, well crafted and well prepared. The bartender is a real master mixologist who enjoys sharing his expertise and his "Breakfast in Bed" is one of the best cocktails this former bartender has ever had. To top it all off, the pricing is an excellent value for this top quality! We can't wait to go back in good weather and enjoy the beautiful outdoor dining!"

"I flew in from Atlanta GA to celebrate a friend's 60th birthday during the weekend. All of us gals were on a tight timeline to make this day be very special, relaxing with great food and fun. Colterra was in the middle of our events. The staff, the atmosphere and the great food was perfect for us to relax before our next dancing event. The staff was very accommodating to our schedule without making it looks like were were in a rush...it was perfect! The food was exceptionally good and the atmosphere was quiet and so enjoyable. Thank you all for a wonderful warm welcome for all of us and making this be a special moment for our friend on her birthday."

"Delicious for the most part. Asparagus arugula salad was outstanding as was the beet salad. The halibut was delicious although I didn't think the presentation was appealing. Bland bean soup. The mussel appetizer was outstanding. We ordered the bouillabaise and the first bite was QUITE fishy, like left over fish was used. The second bite wasn't any better so we sent the dish back. Instead of immediately whisking it away, the waiter said, "well, after eating the halibut, of course it is going to be fishy". He left the dish sit in front of me and it took a while for him to return to take it away.
I also don't think the waiter knew his wines although he purported to. He led us in a wrong direction. for $350.00 dinner s/b amazing."
