A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few.
Beautifully remodeled in early 2009, the Brigantine is well-known for the signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée. The Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Home to the America's Cup until 1995, Shelter Island is still the yachting center of San Diego. The Brigantine offers glimpses of this busy marina from the outdoor patio and semi-private banquet areas.
The Point Loma Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, and lunch Monday-Saturday. Join us for our signature Happy Hour.
"Everytime My Wife and i come here to dine it has been a pleasure. No matter what I choose on the menu, I'm never disappointed."

"Food was generally excellent but I may be out of synch with current food trends in that the Halibut I had was very good but just a touch undercooked. Thoroughly done and flaking apart is my preference but chefs seem to be taking a page from sushi grade tuna and sliding toward not fully cooked. Other than that it was excellent."

"Long story short I ordered the prime rib. It was extremely tough. It tasted like it was boiled or maybe made in the microwave. My husband ordered the grilled sea bass and he said it had absolutely no flavor and was certain it was not fresh. Our waitress never checked on us. We ordered a milk for my daughter. It never came. We had to ask another waitress for our bill. My husband and I are not picky people a we still tiped however this was a horrible experience and we will never go back to this establishment."

"We showed up for our 7:45 reservation on a Sat nite and were seated @7:45 nice start. Place was busy some people were dressed a little too casual for my taste, oh well. Once seated the service was prompt and couteous. A nice house martini and and ordred shortly afterward not rushed though. Ordered the Brig salad which was excellent then had sea bass was also very good slightly over cooked though. Creme brule very good. The evening was a pleasurable experience and looking forward to returning."

"Hadn't had this excellent service in quite a while...not once did we have to call or wave down the waiter for anything...he was right on top of it all, water refills, drinks, plates removed, to go box etc.....not overdoing it like most places. They we're very prompt with our food, hot, all at once and very well.prepared. Excellent dining experience , thnx..."

"Food was excellent and up to the standards of the Brigantine family of restaurants. On this visit the service was not. We arrived earlier than our reservation and offered to wait in the bar if a table was not available. We were taken to a horrible booth next to the kitchen, although many better tables and booths were empty. Our hostess said those were all being held for reservations. That would have meant US! After she had a LONG conference with the other person at the front desk, we were taken to a nice booth. Our waiter was extremely polite, offered many suggestions, and apologized profusely for someone bringing our entrees out before we had finished our appetizers, but better to get it right than have to apologize!"

"My experience was extremely disappointing considering the other reviews. By far the worst and the most expansive restaurant in the neighborhood. Maybe an off night in the kitchen : the presentation of most of the plates was very poor and the content as well. I never ate oysters so flavourless oysters. Only the salmon was well cooked; the bass and the red snapper were overcooked and with a poor seasoning. Service was the only positive point.
If you really like fish, you'd rather drive one more block to Bali Hai; you'll have a nice view on top of an excellent food at a lower price and bigger portions."

"I was there to celebrate my birthday with the family. Table we had was fine but air conditioning froze us until a very nice bus boy asked if we were too cold. He said he would have them turn the a/c down which they did. Food was slow, waiter was too busy with a lot of tables. We had to remind him several times that we were missing a food item. My swordfish (tacos) was over cooked. And, no birthday acknowledgement.
We come to the Brig or Miguel's often. Most visits run smoother than this one. And, we will be back."

"The chef was willing to adjust the seafood in the fettuccine dish to my preference; with salmon! Very nice results. Didn't know what to do with the Open Table check I had for $20, but they figured it out eventually."

"Went for brunch. The wait staff was very good. However, the breakfast burrito was pretty bad. It was supposed to have chuncks of prime rib with egg. It really was not tasty. The breakfast potatoes that accompanied the burrito were just bad. Nice place, nice people, yucky food."

"First time visit (although we've driven by this place many times). Parking in the lot is free after 6:00 P.M. Love I could show up for dinner in jeans and an aloha shirt on a Saturday night. The online reservation system worked perfectly and the hostesses are super friendly. We were craving seafood and the menu didn't disappoint. Looking forward to a repeat visit to try other menu items."

"We have been going to the Brigantine for many years and always enjoy it. We sometimes go in early to the bar and order from the bar menu which is great too. It is very close to our home so that is a plus too. Service is always great too!"

"Service was NOT friendly or attentive. They really didn't care (later I found out why - they have tacked 18% gratuity for 6 people party including 2 kids). Server seemed to be annoyed by my questions about food for kids. I had ask for refill for water and iced tea - server never bothered to offer it unless we asked.
Food was fresh, high quality ingredients, but preparation did not seem healthy (seemed kind of greasy).
Overall - certainly not worth the price. Had much better experience in Brigantine in Poway and Coronado before. The Point Loma location did not stack up."

"To me, brunch usually envisions a buffet style menu. I felt that the menu was just a regular breakfast/lunch menu. I probably won't go back for "brunch", but the food was good and the service was good too. I will probably go for lunch/dinner sometime."

"Had reservation, and seated on time. Price is right for ok food from a small chain resturant. Swordfish was a bit over done. Crab Louie salad: heavy on the lettuce, chopped egg,and bacon bits, but real light on crab."

"Our server Kat was amazing. It was a busy night, 2 large parties and one screaming child. But Kat's great service made up for what could have been a very unenjoyable evening."

"The food was ok. Our server was very nice and the bread was yummy. They brought the kid's food quickly, even though it was busy. I thought the fish taco was a bit greasy compared to others I have had."

"This is by far my favorite Brigatine. My father brought my here as a child and now I bring my wife. Felix has been an incredible Server each and everytime we've been lucky enough to be seated in his section. The food was excellent and the dinner overall was top notch."

"My husband & I came to this restaurant on Valentine's Day for dinner; our very first time. Most of the diners were retired people. Been to the Coronado place; view is much better. This Point Loma restaurant is old; I saw a lot of retired people, didn't see kids. This place was cold, normally, a restaurant goer would take off her coat while eating; but I did not. Price of food was reasonable; food was ok. We came to this restaurant due to the proximity to Mission Valley where we live; since it's a rush hour. I commend our great male waiter though. He made sure that we liked the food; awesome service. The woman in the front who takes reservations was not friendly. At this time, I don't think I would like to go back to this restaurant."

"Excellent seafood selections, well prepared, very fresh ingredients. Suitable for informal groups and families. Waiter/server and hostess were very good, but the bus persons need training. Had to request bread, then the bus person wanted to take it away several times when actually we wanted more, and he kept wanting to clear our dishes when clearly there was still food on the plates and we were still eating. Otherwise I would have given a 5-star rating."

"We were a table of 5 for lunch. The waitress was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was incredibly busy, and we were very impressed with the manager who was helping out all of the wait help and still took time to stop by our table. The Brigantine salad was delicious and different! I loved my crab cake and the calamari was a big hit. One of our diners was alergic to seafood and he enjoyed a yummy lunch of pork sliders. There was something for everyone. WE WILL BE BACK!!"
