A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history. "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today.
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Perched between the spectacular Pacific Ocean and the hills of Rancho Santa Fe, the Del Mar Brigantine sits high above the action of the Del Mar racetrack.
A lushly landscaped garden offers an unparalleled setting for weddings and outdoor-themed events. Indoors, a formal dining room looks out to the garden through floor-to-ceiling french doors. For more casual dining, the glass-enclosed deck is a year-round favorite.
The Del Mar Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, lunch Monday-Saturday, and brunch each Sunday.
Join us for our signature Happy Hour.
"This old Del Mar favorite has had a great face lift with much more glass for their view of the neighborhood and the race track. The bar is larger, better to have their wonderful oysters and a glass of wine! The service friendly and the food reliable."

"We had reservations on a Friday evening and were seated at a large booth right away. Our party of five had plenty of elbow room. Everyone was able to find a selection from the diverse menu options. Service was friendly and prompt. The food was served not too quickly and not too slowly, just right. There was no feeling of being rushed out the door after the meal. All in all it was a very pleasant dining experience and we will definitely be back. We took out of town guests there and it is a very good option for that."

"Our table was ready when we arrived and in the location I requested. Service was perfect, attentive but not hovering, and all dinners arrived as ordered. The food was very good and priced right. I get tired of paying exorbitant prices for mediocre food. The restaurant was very busy, but we were allowed to enjoy our meal and visit with our friends without having someone hanging around looking at us and encouraging us to leave. My only complaint would be the noise level. It was very loud and hard to hear each others conversations. But, all in all, a lovely evening and we will return. We'll be back"

"Nice afternoon out on the golf course. The Brig was a good, relaxing, and comfortable place to dine as it was on the way home. Service: Quite good. Menu choices: great for seafood or meat folks. Outdoors view: Superb during the pony season at Del Mar."

"My birthday dinner couldnt have been more perfect. Our server Jackie was attentive and happy! Nice portions at great prices. Sangria cocktail was great too. We are always made to feel welcome at any Brigantine but the view here is exceptional. We arrived early and stayed on till sunset but never felt rushed. ALthough we didnt visit the bar, it looked rockin'. Valet parking is required (for a small fee) and it is a blessing due to location. It was all so very very nice. We will return again and again."

"This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. However, the remodel and expanded bar area has made the whole restaurant very noisy, even in the dining room. We were with one other couple, and we had a hard time hearing each other. My husband's sea bass was very dry, and the waitstaff seemed too busy to be attentive. This was early evening on a Tuesday, and the whole bar area was crowded and noisy. We don't plan to ever go back for dinner."

"A great location and a beautiful, recently renovated restaurant. Parking is limited - valet only (and they charge $4) if you don't want to hike it there. We went on a Wednesday night and it was packed. Made it feel lively and popular, but also crowded and noisy. Could barely have a conversation (we were seated in the patio area which I think is more noisy than inside, but also more scenic with big windows looking out to the racetrack). Our server was friendly, but the service was slow - I am sure due to how crowded it was. The food was pretty good, though San Diego has many fine restaurants that would make this food taste mediocre. Those who ordered the fish & chips and the ribeye steak were happiest with their food. Mud pie was excellent!"

"The restaurant is very busy and the noise level was high. We got there early and had to wait another15 mins past reservation time in the bar in very uncomfortable seats. Bar items were good and drinks were large with plentiful menu. Once seated in middle of the restaurant at a table with a single outdoor chair mixed in with the others that we had to move ourselves I could see this was going to go downhill. A booth was available but not offered. Slow table service. The highlights of the menu were just Ok. Took the waiter too long to collect the bill. The bus boy service was excellent and deserved the tip. We like the area but will probably choose another restaurant and save the $4 valet charge. Food also a bit overpriced for portion size."

"Food was good - server Renee was great! Seated in enclosed patio next to Screaming baby table. Reminded me of a friend who said- "Kids should not be allowed in a restaurant until they are old enough to order a cocktail!". We will give it another test drive and sit in dinning room that looked nice."

"I've given Brigantine DM rave reviews in the past and continue to rank it highly on my list for lunch spots in North County. I've enjoyed service from various wait staff and they all have been exceptional. Additionally, when I have booked through OpenTable and asked for a specific location within the restaurant I have always gotten my request fulfilled. Great job Brigantine DM, your food and service is living up to your fantastic remodel.
Cheers!

"Although this is a very popular restaurant, and has been recently remodeled, I just don't understand why people flock to it. You have to pay for parking, it's always crowded, the food is mediocre at best. The bar is energetic and if you're single and looking to score, that might be a draw. But if you want a good meal in a nice atmosphere, I would go to Azul which is owned by the same people but is much, much better."

"We enjoyed our evening at the Brig. Our server was great. She made great drink and food recommendations and was attentive, but not invasive. She ensured that our dinner was paced perfectly. The shrimp and crab fondue is an excellent starter for a group, especially on a cool evening.
I had a special of tuna sashimi and mango. The fish was wonderfully fresh, but the ponzu sauce was virtually undetectable. The portion was very large for an appetizer. My companions had fish and chips and a perfectly cooked piece of sea bass. Everything was good but not "knock your socks off."
The renovations look great, but the room is quite noisy so it can be difficult to carry on conversations. The views over the race track are one of a kind!"

"Unfortunately, our time was next to 3 families together with their eight children next to us. Not only were the children on the loud side, but the parents seemed to be oblivious to it. They were all drinking and a little on the loud side also. We got through the night okay. It was our first time there so we won't judge the restaurant by this one incident alone. The food was good and the service was outstanding. Pricing was a little on the high side, but for the location and views kind of expected. Really didn't see much of the restaurant."

"The food was excellent as usual. We booked a reservation in the dining room, however, we ended up moving to the bar area because we could not order chicken tacos in the dining room. Our server told us that the chicken tacos come from the bar and therefore we could not order them. Interestingly, the fish tacos, nachos, and drinks all come from the bar area and can be served in the dining room. Seems like a strange rule to make. We have been frequent customers at Brigantine and this has never been an issue before."

"We took some friends and when booking requested a table at the window which was provided. Food was good ,service excellent and all in all a most enjoyable brunch. Will be going there on a regular basis as we also really like the relaxed atmosphere and the reasonable prices! We had been there before and had enjoyed the Sunday brunch. Happy to say the they seem to be consistent in quality!"

"The only gripe I have is that the table we had was in complete darkness (even though we had a reservation)......had to use cell phone for light. We asked for another table and was told there weren't another available.....there were several emplty tables around."

"We had a reservation for 6, three couples, at 7:15. We were seated by a large party of fraternity members,50+, who should have had their own banquet room. The noise level was such that a normal conversation could not be had. The waiter came and took our order and then said he would bring back some bread. The bread didn't arrive before the first course of salads and soup. We then requested the bread again which was brought with the main course, too soon after the salads/soups. A couple of us had to hold the salad/soup plate above our entree plate because there wasn't any room left on the table. A very rushed dinner experience that lasted less than 1 hour but with the noise level we were glad to get out!"

"An old favorite. Good steak and seafood. Went on "Taco Tuesday" night, so it was packed- but reservations brought us right to a table. Food was served hot and at the appropriate times, even for our table of 6."

"We celebrated my son'sbirthday. He and his wife are expecting their first in about a month. The waitstaff were so kind I helping her with a dinner selection!--and working with the chef to modify a selection so she could really enjoy the dinner.
We have dinner at one of the Brogantine restaurants at least once a month -- and it is always a fabulous experience!"

"We have enjoyed The Brigantine for many years. I love the remodel. It really updates the restaurant. However, the dining room was way too noisy. We had to strain our voices to be heard. I will request patio next time. I had the scallops which were delicious. My husband ordered a combination fish plate that he diidn't realize was fried. I think he needs glasses to read menu ! It was too much fried food for him. Service was only fair. It was a busy night and our waitress seemed a little frazzled. We wll be retuning."

"We had a great experience! We were a bit late arriving as we had been given poor directions by our hotel. The restaurant was kind enough to check on us before they gave away our table. We loved the crab fondue that we had as our starter and it was a very ample serving for two. My swordfish with the lime avocado sauce was divine. We hope our travels find us in the area again to afford us a return visit."
