A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received numerous accolades during our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few.
Well-known for our signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish & Crème Brûlée, the Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks & grilled meats.
A favorite destination for locals & tourists alike, the Coronado Brigantine is located in the heart of the village, immediately adjacent to the historic Hotel Del Coronado.
Completely remodeled in 2005, the "new" Coronado Brigantine is an elegant adaptation of its former self. The addition of an intimate private dining room, a surround-seating bar and street-side outdoor patio have been equally well-received.
The Coronado Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, as well as lunch Monday-Saturday.
Join us for our signature Happy Hour.
"This restaurant has lots of booth seating, it's kind of dark. Service was fast and good. The food was delicious. Husband had fish tacos, very tasty. I had wild salmon, also very good. They brought crayons and stuff for the kids to do. Prices are very reasonable, and portions are quite large. I would definitely go back. It is classic seafood fare...you know, fish and chips with cole slaw, Louis salads, oysters, shrimp cocktail, etc."

"Upon being seated it was a noticeable period of time before we were waited on for a beverage order. We were pleased with the drink prices (lower than the La Mesa Brig store). Our food upon arrival was room temperature which for fish was less than exciting. The restaurant was very busy although not packed so we were hesitant to return our food as it was already a bit overcooked and one never knows what will happen in the kitchen with returned food. Our waiter, once in gear was very good and fairly attentive. We probably won't come back to this location unless we are in Coronado for some other reason. It was special to come to Coronado for our Fathers Day celebration."

"We are regular customers of the Brigantine in La Mesa. We go several times a month for brunch, lunch and dinner. We decided to give the Coronado restaurant a visit for a change. We were terribly disappointed. We made reservations the day before. Usually this means a better table. The restaurant was not very crowded and yet we got the worst seat in the restaurant. No view. Over in the corner next to the kitchen. So far away from everything that we had no interaction with anyone. The food was not as good as La Mesa. The service was not great. We will continue to go to the La Mesa restaurant but definitely will not return to the Coronado restaurant."

"Our dinner in the Monte Carlo area of the Coronado facility was enjoyable, as always. We had requested that area because it has been more quiet for easy conversation - but, the sound system overhead was too loud! The bar area and main dining room were quieter and the sound system was hardly noticeable. Nonetheless, our evening meal was delicious! We will reurn."

"My Mom and 3 friends spent 3 hours enjoying good food, good wine and great conversation! Anything I asked was taken care of with a smile. We have been enjoying the Brig, Coronado for over 30 years with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all enjoying this consistent restaurant. Thank you Brigantine for all the memories with many more to come!"

"Incentive this trip was a birthday certificate generously emailed. My wife and I were most impressed by Neal, a very attentive, but not at all overbearing, server with 5 years at the Brig. Excellent seafood fare is what we often come for especially at the early dining special hours. Overall, can't be beat on or off Coronado!"

"We took my son there for a special occasion...needless to say it did not live up to it reputation. I had heard wonderful things about it. Our waiter was, for a lack of a better word, BORING! It was almost like he was irritated that we were there. He made no suggestions about the menu and I waited for a drink for about 15 minutes after my food came. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was the best thing we had all night. It was cooked very well and the dipping sauces were very good. We ordered the seafood trio, crab stuffed prawns and the halibut. Nothing was seasoned properly and everything was kind of bland. It was a disappointment. I would not recommend to anyone that lives or visits there."

"Booked thru Open Table with comment that we were celebrating my husbands's birthday. Nothing special was offered to us but I did see someone else receive a dessert with a candle. When leaving I asked the hostess if they did anything special for birthday celebrations. She said they did. I told her about my comment on OT and she offered a dessert for us to carryout. Manager brought it to us and offered apologies. That was an appreciated effort. Food just ok.Small plates of PEI mussels and fried clams were great. Ciopino a disappointment tomato broth lacked depth of flavor. Swordfish good but cuts were thin. Sangria had more fruit juice than wine; would not recommend. If we did go back, we would stick to the small plates."

"Made reservation with open table. Table was not ready when we arrived. We waited approximately 15 to 20 minutes for our reservation. After being seated service was fantastic and so was food!!!!"

"It was disappointing. Reviews led us to believe that the food was wonderful and it was only 'average'. It's a nice looking place maybe good for a drink but the food is only mediocre."

"Terrific food and service was delightful. However, I guess I'm a dinosaur. Shorts, flip flops, hairy legs and unusually shapen feet are not a dress code for a fine dining experience And the men were not much better!"

"This was to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. The evening was great. The food and service were excellent. Although crowded, our table was waiting immediately upon our arrival. I had the prawn which I found to be the most enjoyable dining out meal I have had in a long time. Thank you for an outstanding evening."

"My husband and I had 6:30 reservations on a Saturday night. From the moment we entered the restaurant the service was prompt and very friendly. My chicken with lemon butter with capers and artichokes was out of this world delicious! Mixed vegies on the sides were fresh and delicious also. My husband's crab stuffed prawns wrapped in bacon were superb. He said they were cooked perfectly as was his asparagus. The decor was tasteful and charming. There were lots of people and lots of conversation but somehow it was perfectly comfortable. Overall a truly delightful and memorable experience. Outstanding food and service in a beautiful space; who could ask for anything more?!"

"Dessert was awesome! Most dinners delicious, had to wait a bit too long between salad and main course. For my 89 yr old mom,the shrimp and crab salad was pulverized and she couldn't find or taste the protein, recommend a better portion content. Our server did a pretty good job, and for seating a handicapped person,a closer table to entrance would have been easier to manipulate.i think I could have requested that when making reservations.there were open closer tables however at the time. Overall,a nice experience for us all.thanks"

"Overall, I wouldn't go back. The food was marginal at best. Nothing innovative or memorable. The staff was about what you would see at an Appleby's or Golden Corral. No zip, just doing their job. We went for Valentine's day and it certainly didn't feel special. Old and tired comes to mind.
Parking was a mess too. No valet and few spaces. It's everyman for himself at Brigantine."

"Had lunch on a Sunday during a holiday weekend. Server apologized ahead of time for the slow service (not the way you want to start your lunch). Water took forever. Drinks took longer. Food was very good, but again took very long. We liked the privacy in the booths. It helped protect from loud neighbors. Great location."
