"I thought this would be a very cool dining experience. However it started off with very rushed service. Progressed to very average food. Nothing exciting. Not to mention that the room was extremely loud. The only thing notable in the evening was some good wine. i would not recommend this restaurant. I will not go back."

"My wife and I went to Meritage for the first time on her birthday a few weeks ago. The food was excellent, service was good and the view of the harbor was beautiful. The menu offered a wide variety of choices from seafood to steak. The cod loin with chorizo over spinach was incredible and my wife's swordfish over lobster and shrimp risotto was fabulous. I would highly recommend Meritage for special occasions or even just a date night. It is absolutely worth every penny. We will definitely be going back!"

"a beautiful view of Boston harbor, a great bar, a nice window table, a creative menu that's available in its entirety as small or large plates, and wonderfully-prepared food. we've been here a few times and it's never disappointed. this time, our only comment is that the waiter pulled a disappearing act after dessert, and we waited half an hour for our check. but that's pretty minor compared to how superb everything else was. definitely worth the money."

"Pricey but you get a level of service commensurate with the price. There was a large group there the night I went and they were obnoxiously loud. The noise in the restaurant carries throughout. It was tolerable but they may want to rethink large parties like that. The food was very good. They also do a nice job bringing you extras that you did not order. Such as a tasting of soup and cookies with coffee for dessert."

"A really great restaurant - the same one that has those fabulous wine tasting dinners, with the same great chef - then why is it never crowded ?
The food at either half of full portion, is varied and really really good. The six of us had at least 12 - 14 different courses and all were good to excellent. Service was also very good and the view was of Boston waterfront. The only negative I could think of is possibly the Very high wine
Prices, but even that could be avoided by ordering by the glass! We will be back again!"

"My wife and I had dinner at Meritage. I liked the idea of the small plates, as we were able to order 6 different items off the menu and share them all. The presentation is quite nice and the food was good to excellent. We had a window table so the view was very pleasant. The restaurant is nice but it is in a hotel and it has somewhat of a hotel restaurant feel. It is quiet, even with a fair amount of people in the restaurant. This is great if you like being able to talk with companions but again, it misses the 'buzzy' atmosphere of a restaurant like Cinquecento, which is at the other end of the spectrum. Overall it was a very good experience."

"I checked a number of places to have dinner with my wife and old Navy buddy from the S.F. bay area. Wanted a place that was quiet and with a view of the harbor. Meritage fit the bill.
Food and service were excellent. The only minor issue was that the halibut was a little overcooked so it was a little dry. The mushrooms that came with the halibut made up for that. The venison & pheasant were great and my wife raved about the diver scallops. Desserts and coffee were great as well. Super wine list, but a bit pricey. Small plates are best for first timers.
If you're new to Boston or don't get into the city very often, the BHH valet parking is the way to go."

"I have visited many restaurants during Restaurant Week in the past and this is probably one of the best. Although the portions were small, the food was delicious! Everything from the three types of bread for each person to the tasting plates for dessert clearly showed the restaurant's attention to detail and the chef's commitment to quality. Lastly, the beautiful waterfront view and validated parking were a plus!"

"A very enjoyable and relaxed Easter Sunday brunch accompanied by soft live jazz. Of course, Meritage overlooking the harbour on a gorgeous, sunny, Spring day certainly helped. The food was good with a nice, well rounded variety. Can't comment on the wine list as we stayed with Champagne and Mimosas. All of the wait staff - from the bar in the waiting area just outside the restaurant, those milling around and those at the tables - were wonderful. Definitely recommended."

"My husband and I had an amazing dinner here. The restaurant is modern and bright. We were seated at a large window overlooking the water and harbor. The food was excellent and our server was so helpful with our drink selection, making recommendations based upon my likes/dislikes. I had the braised short ribs and my husband had the filet. "This was my first trip to Meritage. I went during restaurant week when I try to get out and try someplace that is new to me. Meritage impressed with an excellent menu as well as suggested wine pairings for each course. I had the swordfish with lobster and lemon risotto. The flavors were light, clean and distinctive. I will find reasons to return. I have sometimes been disappointed by the way in which restaurants treat restaurant week but Meritage made it an excellent visit; it is easy to see why they have such a good reputation."

"Every year I want to visit during restaurant week and I finally made my reservations early enough this time! And you know it was worth it when over a week later, there is a dish you are still thinking about - the butternut squash pasta dumplings. The filet also recived rave reviews for it's melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. Conversly, the swordfish was nothing special and slightly underdone for my taste. Entrees were also served just warm, not remotely near hot. Dessert was good, but more about presentation than taste."

"I went to Meritage with my friends during the 2013 Winter Restaurant Week. They didn't provide their regular menu, although they had a nice selection of appetizers and main dishes, the presentation and taste wasn't top notch. They quality of food and the service didn't match the atmosphere."

They even changed one of the wine specials to better suit the main course of one guest. We had three different choices and there was not one that was not delightful. "I dined here on Thanksgiving and was quite impressed. Upon my second visit, I was slightly less impressed, but still enjoyed the meal immensely. The sommelier changed, but the wine list was still impressive. I brought my girlfriend for restaurant week. Several of the menu offerings were identical to the ones I had for the Thanksgiving meal, which was slightly surprising. Overall a lovely meal."

"We had a beautiful view of the harbor from our table. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about wine pairing. We had the three-course Restaurant Week dinner with one wine pairing and a glass of the wine list. Wine list is extensive, but not all wines are available by the glass. The waiter helped me picked a white and let me taste it. No problem exchanging it for another recommendation after I did not like my original pick. The food looked and tasted beautiful! A real treat!"

"Our server (though friendly) was a bit slow. This is to be expected during restaurant week I suppose. The food however, was INCREDIBLE. I started my meal with the seared cod loin which was light and flaky with a perfectly crisped crust. Following that I had the swordfish steak which I was not as impressed with, but the lobster and lemon risotto that it was resting on was so delicious that I could probably eat it for every meal. We will definitely be going back."

"I have loved Meritage for years but have to say was quite disappointed this time. It was restaurant week and i was expecting their best. It was almost insulting. We waited for quite some time at our table for the waiter to ask if we needed drinks which never happened until he came to take dinner orders and we had to ask. The portions were so small (the entre piece of swordfish was 2x2??). It had the feel of a wedding banquet with all the meals prepared in advance, sitting on plates in the kitchen waiting to be delivered. We invited friends to join us, giving them rave reviews of our past experiences. I am sure they we not impressed."

"As usual Meritage doesn't disappoint. This was the first time I have been to Meritage for restaurant week and was delighted by the quality, presentation and choice. There were four great choices in each category. They even had a "wine flight" (extra cost) of three wines to go with the different choices on the menu. Service was perfect. "Went here for Resturant Week, dinner $40. In the Boston Harbor Hotel,I guess I was expecting a little nicer decor in the resturant itself, kind of stark, was hoping for warm. Had drinks in the bar downstairs, nice warm decor and service. Dinner was 2 butternut squash dumplings, hand made and yummy, the smallest piece of swordfish I have ever seen. Really it was a circle about as big as maybe a half dollar coin, if that. It was served on some risotto that was good with some lobster taste. Great bread was served, and deserts were yummy and fancy. Wines were 10+ per glass. So for three people with one glass of wine each, the bill with tip was $220. Alot for portions. Great view,enjoyed ourselves, and valet parking was only $8."
