"We took my boyfriend's dad for Father's Day dinner. We had been here once before for his birthday dinner and loved it! This time however, upon entry we were greeted with a few several SCREAMING toddlers. Why is it ok to take your misbehaving kids to a nice restaurant, and let them terrorize the patrons? I saw several people walk outside, bc they were SO loud. The rest of the dinner was good. I asked our host if we could sit in a quieter area (meaning AWAY from those kids). Thank you! Service was good and as expected. Our food was delicious, and they even brought his dad a little strawberry shortcake as a Happy Father's Day/welcome to California dessert.
Maybe refuse the right to serve family w/ tyrants for children?"

"I came here for Father's Day brunch with my mother and father(duh). My father lived in Los Feliz while he was dating my mother. This was the spot they used to come to while on dates. My father had not been here in 30 years. The tam was amazing to him as always. The food, atmosphere and service were all the same that he had remembered. He told me that it was the best gift he had gotten.
As for the food: I got the short rib stroganoff. It was amazing!!!the meat was tender and the sauce on the noodles was to die for. Not too much sour cream. Which is amazing because most places put way too much. Add my killer mimosa and this place defiantly gets the highest marks! Loved it and I will be coming back soon!!"

"Had never been to the Tam even though I'd known about it for years. I've been missing out. Everyone from the bartenders to the matre 'd to the waiters and bus boys were all friendly to downright fun. The food is not "cheap date" priced, but it is not the sticker shock you get at some of the Hot Spots. The bar is also not as expensive as many places, even less than expected! The food is very good, and much of what you expect from what is primarily a steakhouse/Prime Rib joint, but a few tasty surprises and a good time had by everyone at my table. Reccommended."

"We were very disappointed with the service. The drinks took forever to arrive as well as the food. The food was excellent once we got it, but one guest even had cool not warm Prime rib. They didn't send it back but were temped to. They figured it would take way to long to replace it.

"Tam O'Shanter is a restaurant that you can always expect a fine dining experience as well as good service. We were celebrating a birthday and not only did our server wish the recipient a happy birthday but other staff welcomed us and wished us a good evening and gave birthday wishes to the guest of honor. That makes a person really enjoy the atmosphere and service that Lawry's Restaurants have continuously given and deserve their great reputation. Our server was informative and very gracious and accommodating. Food, as always, was delicious. It made the whole evening very enjoyable for everyone."

"My only problem is the same one as with most restaurants in LA - they close so early! Tam O'Shanter closed at 9PM. They were very nice and didn't tell us until 10PM, though. It's always surprising in a great metropolis when you have to break up a vibrant conversation and leave when the night is barely started. We're originally from NYC, the city that famously never sleeps, and our guest was from Belgium. In Europe in general, dinner starts at 7PM and lasts, with regular infusions of wine, until 2AM.
Great restaurant, but we'd have liked to continue our visit for another couple of hours!"

"Had 6:30pm reservations for a Sunday night made a week ahead and confirmed the day before. Arrived at 6:25 and was seated 30minutes late at 7pm. Poor planning on the part of the restaurant. Others people waiting also had reservations and were seated late too. Food and everything else was good to very good."

"It's been over 30 years since we last dined atTam O'Shanter and it is just as nice now as it was then. The ambiance is very pleasant, the service wonderful and the food delicious! Don't know that we've ever had such a delicious Filet Mignon, green beans and potatoes as we had there. We highly recommend it! Perfect for dinner before going to the Greek Theater as it's nearby, freeway friendly and easy access, plus outstanding food."

"Was there for a causl meal with a friend, brought a bottle of wine, the salad was crisp and fresh and the bleu cheese dressing had the right consistency and flavor....the prime rib was perfect and tried the CC hot fudge sunday for the very first time and it was fantastic with the roasted almonds, whip cream and hot fusge....it really topped the evening off for us and and Zach, our waiter was attentive and fullfilled our minor requests with courtesy. It was a great evening for my friend and I."

"Made the reservation well in advance and advised if was our 29th Anniversary and that my wife had dairy allergies. They made it special for us with a nice table, special greeting by the server and the manager, and a special desert (Raspberry Sorbet). Wonderful prime rib (this restaurant has been around since 1923 and was Lawry's parent) perfectly done. Leisurely pace, immaculate service, great sides (mashed potatoes with gravy, creamed spinach, Yorkshire pudding). Everything done well and with class."

"Took mom for mother's day - the place was practically empty, yet the service suffered a bit. They didn't have menu items available that mom wanted. Yorkshire pudding was cold and hard. "First the positive, the food is excellent, pricey but large portions and taste justify it. On the negative, cramped, crowded rooms with very little room to move or even leave the room, not adequate service for a crowded restaurant, we could never find our server, had to ask other servers to find him, also, not very knowledgelble, seem like his first day on the job. Maybe another night would be better, but probably try somewhere else on a Saturdsy evening."

"Tam O'Shanter is always a nice place to go. The menu is different from almost anywhere else in the L.A. area. Scottish cuisine is distinct from English or Irish, so -- except for fish and chips and shepherd's pie -- you may see things that are new to you. Try to go on a night when there's a live band. "Slugger O'Toole," a good Irish band, plays in the sandwich and ale room from time to time."

"We've been coming here for way back when it was called Great Scot. It has always been a favorite even with noted reduced portions and slight increase in pricing. This recent visit was disappointing with fewer offerings on the menu such as lamb entree, no extra "frills" such as salad that accompanies our entrees, portions much more smaller, and pricing higher. It is most likely my last visit to this once exceptional restaurant with generous serving portions for the price tag. Staff continues to be friendly, courteous, and charming."

"This has been my perfect location for organizing my regular Guys Night Out group for 6 to 8 attendees. The bar provides a great pre-dining setting with a good choice of draft ales, bottled beers and well drinks. Then available large round tables in one of the dining rooms allows for continued conversation while enjoying perfectly prepared prime rib with a good selection of wines to choose from. Since the restaurant has now added a Sommelier to the staff, the dining experience is enhanced by appropriate suggestions to match the tastes of the diners and provides some new experiences from selections which are "off list.""

"We're long time patrons and fans of the Lawry's family of restaurants but were less than wowed on this visit to the Tam, our first in a few years. The food was pretty good, the decor is fun, the service was pretty offhand but not bad. Unlike their flagship brand, it felt like poor value for the money. To be honest, it felt like they're living off their reputation and their association with Lawry's. Sad."
