Philadelphia restaurant impresario Stephen Starr's retro-modern offering, located in the town's "University City" neighborhood, lets its guests sip sake, beer, and colored cocktails while munching on fresh sushi, dim sum, and Pan-Asian entrees. "Everyone in our party of 4 was so impressed with the food & ambience that we agreed to return soon. Our second visit was just as enjoyable as the first. Both times we all loved the rock shrimp tempura in a spicy aioli sauce, vegetable fried rice, sushi & salad. On our third excursion we plan to try other items from the menu. I for one may not be able to resist getting the rock shrimp again!"

"I was celebrating my birthday with friends at Pod! I love the trendy atmosphere, outstanding service and amazing food! I would highly recommend the Red lychee martini, Rock shrimp with candied walnuts, Shrimp Pad Thai and Kung Pao chicken and shrimo stir fry! If you love peanut butter try the fluffernutter spring rolls which is my absolute favorite dessert at Pod!! If you have a large party try to reserve a pod for more intimacy!"

"As we were looking for a nice place for a romantic dinning, Pod was not really the place we were looking for. It was kind of funny we were like overdressed...We were seated on the side were everybody had to pass.
Our waitress was a super girl that saw the humor of it.
My wife had the wagyu beef cooked on a stone at the table. A very nice guy came over to our table and grilled the meat just like my wife wanted it. I had the mixed maki and sashimi platter and I really liked it.
So after all it was a great evening with a possitive atmosphere and we did'd feel sorry for having our dinner I
at Pod's."

The waitress was fantastic in suggesting drinks from their interesting drink menu.
I would definately suggest getting in here soon!"

"I've been to Pod a few times, once I even went for the AYCE Sushi. Overall I do enjoy going here, it's a different sort of restaurant than your average Philadelphia spot. I've yet to try the conveyor belt, but I'd really like to. I got the $18 maki/nigiri combo plate, and tried a few other items. The food is generally pretty good, I just find it to be a bit overpriced. Our service was great, they even put us in one of the fun pods (seats up to eight I'd guess). I'll go back for special occasions, but not for just an average sushi craving."

"I've been meaning to go to this place for awhile and finally had a chance to. Definitely worth the hour drive! Our server Dane was fantastic and knowledgeable. He was able to answer any question we asked and give us recommendations. I ordered the wasabi crusted filet which was cooked to perfection and my friend ordered the miso glazed seabass, also done precisely. Will surely be back again but with more people so we can sit in the color changing pod."

"I have been to Pod several times and I am always impressed by the quality and the preparation of the food. We ordered about 9 appetizers, small plates and vergitable sides between 4 of us. It was more than enough food. Everything was excellent. The bok choy and mushrooms were wonderful. The sushi; delicious. The crab eggrolls are tasty although very overpriced for what they are. I think to really like 8 out of 9 dishes is a pretty good record. It is a noisey place, but that goes along with decor and overall atmosphere. It is kind of what the 1960's thought the future might look like."

"I've been a frequent patron of Pod since they opened. My last trip was a bit of a disappointment though. The lunch menu has recently been trimmed down - dramatically so - and the prices have increased. The music that's now played during lunch would be more appropriate for happy hour/dinner and is much too loud. We asked our server if it could be turned down; didn't notice any improvement if it was. The food is still wonderful, but the service was much slower than usual, even given the veteran server that we had."

"Our time at Pod was great overall. We had a reservation, and while we were not seated right away, we didn't wait very long to be seated. Food was excellent, and service was fast, and competent. Managers came over to check in on us. To offer one small amount of constructive criticism, the wait staff could have been a bit more engaging, but it certainly wasn't bad. All of our needs were met. It's just when you lay down $150 for dinner for two (including tip), you want your waiter to be your guide, as it were, and not just someone who takes your order. We've been to other restaurants at the same price point, and waiters at those establishments make you feel at home, and make the dinner more of an event."

"Went last minute, had no trouble getting a reservation same day. Bit noisy, tables are close together but the vibe is cool there, great service and great people watching. Food comes out as it is prepared so not a course by course type dinner, but great for sharing. WE had a few spectacular dishes, but then some that were mediocre also. I would recommend the Negi Toro, the miso sea bass and the spicy tuna roll. The Saki was awesome, the martini choice was limited and it tasted fine but nothing fancy. The mochi ice cream was odd and I would not recommend it for the price. Overall a great place and thumbs up for sushi and sashimi fans."

"While it may seem to be somewhat expensive, Pod was good as always. It is a pan-asian restaurant, so you naturally do get a lot of food. The food and drinks are always very creative and delicious, and I would always recommend Pod!"
