At Mirani’s, we focus on the root of French gastronomy, Brasserie cooking. Our kitchen prepares meals with only the best ingredients of the season. But surely our focus on food has not deterred us from creating an elegant and stylish restaurant. Antique tapestries and paintings, Renaissance-style frescos, etc, reflect a classical yet contemporary French ambiance. And while the elegance of the space and the exclusivity of the customers dining at Mirani’s matches its upscale North Shore location, there is also a comforting feel you only get from a family-owned business. The atmosphere is so French that you will feel as if you were whisked away to a candlelit bistro in the heart of Paris.

"Even for lunch on a Saturday, Mirani's was a great place to slip into. Soups were delicious, the croque monsieur and the salade nicoise tasty and well-prepared. Wines by the glass were varied, and service was prompt. A nice neighborhood restaurant, easy to go back.."

"We were puzzled by easy of reservation given great reviews by others.. After dining, we are stillpuzzled. The food is very good with a nice selection, except for chicken dishes. Our fish was perfectly prepared and attentively serves. Our wine by the glass was very good and moderately priced. We will certainly dine here again and hope that others do as well. To us, this is an undiscovered gem."

"The dining experience is very European, from the decor to the staff. The ambiance is unhurried (but efficient). The food is excellent and also on the European (mostly French) side. My wife and I are delighted to have found this gem close at hand."

"Take a step back in time in Downtown Winnetka and enjoy this European flair, half French, half Italian restaurant. Outside seating in better weather as well. Fish selections looked very appetizing even though my wife and I had steaks which we rarely ever order. N.Y. strip with peppercorn was done to perfection. My wifes filet mignon was supple and flavorful with a mushroom overlay. For dessert, we had a sponge cake and chocolate mousse cake which was devine. Wine list by the glass was limited but our selections were adequate with the meal."

"Finally gave this place another shot and I was definitely impressed. Was immediately greeted by someone who I believe is the owner behind the bar and she smiled and said she'd seat us in just a few--which she did. we were seated by a gorgeous wall of wine in a beautiful room in the back. We indicated we were expecting 1 more and she was more than gracious with us. Ordered 2 martinis which came out perfectly and quickly. The room was very energetic and was busier than I had expected given that each time I looked at OpenTable--they were wide open. Each of us ordered salads: Endive, beet, and Cesar--all were delicious! We all also got the aged new york strips with a wine peppercorn cream reduction and bistro frites. Spectacular!!! go eat!"

"Hard to explain but we think the ambiance inside Mirani's is wonderfully comfortable. It's a wonderful space, in the front section or in the larger section in back, near the wine storage. The ceilings are high and that makes keeps the noise from becoming a problem. I would recommend sitting near a wall and not out in the middle. -- They had a wonderful halibut special that was beautifully done. Their whitefish was great, as well. It's our favorite place to meet on a Friday night, after work. -- A quiet jazz piano in some corner might be nice but the place is great without it. JHJ"

"I'd like to see this restaurant succeed. The staff is so welcoming here and it's great to have a nice, decently priced restaurant in the area. The mussels and frites ($4 extra for frites) are delicious, as are the soups. Salads are huge and can easily be shared. But the menu is so limited. Basically, there are several varieties of steak, a few fish dishes, and the mussels. Saturday night, the one unique special, shrimp creole, was unavailable. I am hoping the menu is expanded, maybe some chicken dishes? The food is very good, but the lack of variety keeps me from returning often."

"Our experience at Miranis was extremely disapponiting. Our service
was horrendous! Our waiter had terrible serving manners, didn't
explain anything on menu, mummbled, threw our food at
us when serving not appealing, never checked back with us, but
was so quick to ask what we wanted to drink just barelysitting
down-Annoying! Food very mediocre- spent $100, waste of
money! TalkeD to owner, she was apolgetic, but won't go back.
Confirms it's better to go to city for dinner than waste money
in suburbs!"
