Bluegrass is a casual restaurant located in Highland Park. With a cozy setting nestled into the west side of town it is a true destination dining location. Complete with a warm friendly bar and an American flare, Bluegrass blends in a little Southern influence into its repertoire. The wine and beer selections are all American, along with a full back bar, all hand selected to echo the quality of the fare. Mardi Gras is coming soon, it will start January 26th, 2010. Fat Tuesday is the 16th of February, time to get ready for the Mardi Gras Season!

"The fish, pulled pork, and ribs our group had were very good. Not greasy. Tasty BBQ sauce. Eclectic menu - everything from N'awlins cookin' to Asian noodle bowl. Huge beer list. It's a small boisterous place with tables close together and tastefully decorated. Not a quiet conversation place, at least not on Saturday night. We'll definitely come back."

"Our "go to" for a great dinner! Staff and owners are very attentive making sure its a pleasant exoerience!!!! They are always adding specials so you can go often and see different items on the menu. You have to try this place - you won't be dissappointed!!!

"We've been there many times and always have a great experience. In fact, my wife ordered the same thing she'd had the previous time we dined there. I like their barbequed ribs and have them ALMOST every time I go, either in combination with something or by themselves. The couple who joined us on this occasion were there for the first time, and both enjoyed their meals and said they'd most likely return. All in all, another wonderful experience."

"Well, I am happy to have gone to this restaurant. If someone had not suggested it, I would have never known of it. I would have never gone in by just driving by. The Chef greeted us at our table. A fine and friendly man from Louisiana. A talented chef. We all loved everything we ate and drank. It was wonderful.
Upscale Cajun is how we described it."

"Our dinner at Bluegrass was very good overall - had their BBQ ribs which were tasty, lean, and tender. They use a dry rub then finish it off with a tasty BBQ sauce at the end of cooking. It came served with delicious little potato wedges and a side of their peanut brittle baked beans - an odd combination (peanut brittle crumbles on top of baked beans) that did not appeal to me, being too sweet and I didn't care for the crunchy topping. Their hot bread and cinnamon honey butter served after being seated are delicious! We also ordered their asian noodle bowl which was delicious - udon noodles in a light delicious thai-style sauce with tasty and perfectly cooked asian vegetables, chicken. Try their one-bite desserts-just right!"

"Neighborhood gem is an accurate description. Locals abound. Casual and cozy.

Apps: Delisious artichoke fritters and nicely done escargot. Will order again.
Based on the apps, I expected something special of the Key West salad and was disappointed.
Other than the crab meat, it was boring.
Good service. Will go back."

"eVERYON IS SO NICE THERE. "Flavorful gumbo like you would expect in Nawlins. (which is where the Chef/owner is from.) The sassafrass tilapia was wonderful and generously portioned with lots of flavorful sauce to mix in with the rice because you won't want to miss a drop. Accompanied by a wonderfully crisp sauteed garlic green beans this entree is one to return for. (if you can get past the tasty barbque!) The chocolate bread pudding was remarkable with the chilli spiced chocolate sauce. If you havent experienced chocolate with a kick this would be a great start. The warmth of the chilli compliments and accents the chocolate flavor without overpowering."

"My husband and I were very excited to try Bluegrass. It's not easy to find a down home cajun/southern style restaurant that is actually decent in this area and after reading all the reviews we were expecting some good food. Sadly, this was not the case.

Jambalaya had very little flavor and absolutely no kick.
Ribs were ok, the sauce was good.
Baked beans were decent.
My side dishes came ice cold and the waitress took them to the back, reheated them in the microwave, and put them in new dishes. They were rubbery tasting and awful.

We will not be returning to this restaurant, the BBQ sauce, potato wedge fries and baked beans were pretty good, but not worth a return visit."

"A New Year's Eve choice for six of us, all good friends for many years. All of us were very pleased with our dinner selections, and all but one of us took part of the meal home for the following day. The giant calamari appetizer was perfect, and the sauce accompanying it had the right amount of spice. The combo platter of spareribs and shrimp was excellent, and the artichoke chicken entree was unusual and delicious. We all passed up dessert as the portions were generous. The festive atmosphere enhanced the holiday experience, and the staff did not rush us to turn the table, which we all appreciated. In all, Bluegrass is like our friendly neighborhood restaurant with wonderful food and excellent staff."

"As always the food was excellent. You can't miss with the jambalaya. Management team is wonderful and attentive. Our wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed tonight (It was an early reservation on NY Eve). This was the first time this has ever happened to us at Bluegrass and certainly won't stop us from returning to this neighborhood gem."

"We've been to Bluegrass several times, and each time the dining experience is exceptional. The hostess/owner greets you with warmth and creates a very welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. The wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive, and not imposing, even if you stay a bit longer that expected. The menu choices are vast,well prepared and presented, and seasoned correctly. They have occasionally had seasonal specials, which are all excellent. The venue is a bit small if you are having a big crowd (8+), but that should not stop you from enjoying this very good, well run restaurant. We will definitely visit again and again."

"Friendly and attentive hostess. Knowlegeable and warm waitstaff. My wife and I chose this place based on it's cuisine and proximity to a local theater. We are not from the area and ventured out for an Indy film. I chose this place based on reviews and a video on the North Shore Newa show. If we were from the area we would make this part of our dining rotation. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area or that lives in the area."

"The barbecue ribs were not as good as they were when we were there last week. They were too dry and seemed as though they had been left over from the day before.

My chicken and artichoke dish was pretty salty - not all that great. I'd rate it a fair."
