The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish.
Legal Sea Foods’ flagship location in Boston’s Theater District is surrounded by hotels and nearby Newbury Street, Copley Square and Boston Common. Just inside you’ll see a two-story cascading fountain, the center-piece of the restaurant.
With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker.

"The place was eloquently set up yet not too fancy. Good variety of food and drinks, and delicious entrees. Their clam chowder was the best I've had in a long time. Also, friendly staff who are readily available and check in occasionally. We even got a little watermelon delicacy as thanks for making a reservation."

"I've been there many times. It's consistently delicious start to finish. The service is great. I love there "flights" for wine or tequila where you get 3 two oz pours of whatever type of wine (chardonnay, port, etc) or alcohol. Will go again on my next trip to Boston."

"Celebrating my son's graduation. Everyone (7 of us) in attendance raved about their meal. My 87-year-old Dad, who does not often go out to eat, said it was the best clam chowder he has ever had. And the service was absolutely wonderful. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and just the perfect amount of friendly. Kudos to her and all of the other staff who attended to us. A very, very pleasant experience!"

"The fish was excellent as always. Crab cake combo a real hit. Server took roll plates away before we were finished, but brought more when we asked. We had a 5:30 reservation so it was quiet to start but got quite noisy by the time we left. Would definitely recommend for fish in the Park Plaza area."

"Our server, James, was excellent on recommending dishes for my dining companion and not interrupting the flow of our evening with brief check-ins and water refills. The noise level was moderate for dinner-time on a Tuesday evening, though the restaurant seemed quite full. The food ranged from decent to outright excellent: I ordered the market catch of arctic char and preferred my companion's seared tuna; I found the arctic char bland but a few bites tasted 'off' at the edge, I can't explain. The calamari appetizer was delicious. The clam chowder was as good as everyone says. I can't say much to the view: it was a window table for two against the street, though the decor inside was nice to look at."

"We ate the evening of the Boston Marathon 2013, when many other restaurants were closed due to the bombs etc. As a result the place was packed and hence noisy with less than perfect service - service wasn't bad but the wait-staff where overwhelmed because every table was occupied and they were turning them as fast as they could. Given the conditions the service and ambiance were as good as you could reasonably expect and the food itself was great anyway."

"We made reservations for a 7pm dinner on Friday, April 5th. We were seated right away, by the window which was a nice view. Our waiter was very attentive and my husband really enjoyed the oysters he recommended. When I ordered a bowl of the clam chowder he asked if we were going to share it and offered to split it up for us which is a service I have never received anywhere before. The little things always matter. The food of course was delicious, I had the crab stuffed shrimp with mashed potatoes and he had the crab stuffed fish and fries. When we finished dinner we were given a dessert on the house because I mentioned that we were on our honey moon when the host asked why we were in town."

"Everything was perfect from the moment I walked in. A table was available with a window view and it was a beautiful day. Our server appeared immediately and greeted us and gave his name (very professional). We decided against drinks and put in our appetizer order. Now I expected since this being my first time experiencing Restaurant Week I would get a downsized version of their regular appetizer menu. I was sadly mistaken. I had a cup of clam chowder and my guest had shrimp wontons. Order came out completely as a regular order and we had a hard time finishing it. Our entrees were Crab Cake with Grilled Shrimp and Sea Scallops with a Seaweed Salad. My guest had Three Fish Chef Choice with Spinach. All I can say is we had lunch the next day."

"Our waiter was nice but he wasn't very good at his job. He never brought us rolls/bread. He completely screwed up my order, so my boyfriend's dinner got cold while we waited for my correct entree to come out (at which point we had to ask for bread). They gave us a complementary dessert to make up for it. The manager came over to see how my correct entree was but he was talking on his earpiece when he got to the table, which was awkward for us. Being in the industry it's hard not to notice how inappropriate that is"

"EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE. Quickly acknowledged upon arrival by many people who also acknowledged that we were an OpenTable guest. Seated quickly by Gordon, who was the friendliest guy. Our server, LEEYA, has to be the best waitress we have ever had. The Fish entrees were excellent. My wife was particularly in love with the seared encrusted Salmon on Mushroom Ravioli. A nice surprise of a small tasting came from the chef, also as an acknowledgement that we were an OpenTable Guest. It was so appreciated. Our treatment was so special our table against the window very nice and quiet. Thanks."

"Service was excellent even with an unusual amount of business due to a nearby event.
However, we had the Icelandic tasting menu and, very simply, the items were not at all Icelandic. The first and second dishes were American in nature perhaps with the exception of a few caraway seeds. Based on the desert, it is not clear the chefs know the difference between skyr and ice cream."

"Although the restaurant was very busy because of a popular play at a nearby theater, we were seated on time. The service was friendly and efficient, and we never felt rushed. The baked stuffed lobster was delicious. I also recommend the steamers as an app!"

"Had a great meal here celebrating my wife's birthday with our teenage kids. Gluten free menu was perfect for my wife - inclusive of special rolls and an amuse-bouche. They went out if their way to make it a great evening for us. The waitstaff was excellent-very knowledgeable and helpful. Food was. As always, super fresh and excellently prepared."

"My wife and I were late arriving for our reservation (traffic). I called and spoke to the host and told her we would be at least 20 minutes late, they were very accomodating. I did mention in my "Open Table" reservation that it was our 31st anniversary, guess I sort of thought there might be something special for us waiting at the table, but was surprised to get the same dining experience as everyone else...oh well."

"My wife and I had a romantic early Valentine's Day dinner on our way to the theater. The drinks and food were delicious. The wait staff and floor manager were attentive, courteous, jovial, and accomodating. We love this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone."
