Vincenzo's Asheville
Vincenzo's Ristorante & Bistro is Asheville's premier Northern Italian/Continental restaurant. Established in 1990, Vincenzo's has become an institution in Asheville's downtown restaurant scene. Vincenzo's has won numerous awards for food and service over the years, while maintaining and honoring time tested recipes of Old Italy. While it is difficult to claim authenticity in the United State due to the impossibility of procuring the same products used in Italy, Vincenzo's succeeds at being a genuine Italian restaurant experience. Our wine list is extensive and representative of the depth, breath and character of one of the great wine cultures in the world, Italy. While our main dining room is white table cloth our Bistro is California casual in style and offers live music seven nights a week. The Bistro is one of Asheville's favorite local hangouts offering our same great food in a deliberately more casual atmosphere. Come build some wonderful memories with us soon!!

"My wife and I had an early dinner here before a concert. Nice ambiance, and friendly, but food was nothing special. I had an spaghetti dish which was very unremarkable (not even very tasty). Wife had salmon, which was quite good and would recommend. All in all, a pleasant enough place, but based on our dinner, nothing special (contrary to what most other reviewers say)."

"Vincenzo's serves tasty "old standards" in Italian cuisine - veal parmesan, chicken marsala, various pastas. No squid ink pasta or sauce here, just the recognizable tomato- and cream-based sauces most Americans (and especially their kids!) love, flavourfully-prepared. Several entrees are available in "piccolo" versions. These are not tiny portions, but are large enough for a hungry diner who also wants to take some home. The "regular" sized portions will serve three or four famished adults handily. Waitstaff are friendly and helpful. The wine list is a good selection of Italian, American, and other locales' reds and whites. Cheesecake is excellent.

Some entries very good,, (Monk fish special, veal roast), mini canolli and coffee, very good quality, others (ie: chicken marsala) very dissapointing, in flavor and how it was served. Good wine list, nice atmosphere but VERY noisey in upper floor and loud piano music in lower floor. May try again, next time in Ashville. Waitress, Krystle, made the evening much better with her service and nice manner."

"We had reservations for 7:30, but arrived early. The hostess was able to seat us right away in the dining room upstairs. In hindsight, it would have been better to wait for a table downstairs in the piano bar. The upstairs dining room seemed like it was trying to be very formal, but the decor looked like a DIY renovation, the server seemed anxious and distracted, and the noise from patron conversations was literally blaring! I could barely hear my date 3 feet away across the table. It would have been much more enjoyable to sit downstairs and listen to the piano. The food was very good, though."

"Our waiter was great, however it took over an hour to get our food - which usually would not be that big of a deal if it were not for the fact that we had to make the theater and we told him about this up front. The food was good - my duck pasta was great, my wife's fish was good. Wine list was good and very reasonably priced. I would recommend this place to those not in a hurry."

"Unfortunately our experience at Vincenzo's was not good. The wait staff was excellent, but the food did not measure up. We waited one hour for appetizers, and when they arrived the "house salad" looked exactly as if I had opened a salad bag from the grocery store and poured it on a plate. Next, another wait of 45 minutes for entree. The pasta dishes were quite bland and uninteresting. After such a long wait, we expected more. Our table was a small one (only2 people) so should not have been difficult to serve. There must be too few people working in the kitchen. We will not go there again."

"My husband and I went to Vincenzo's for our Valentine's dinner. I had made reservations for 9:30 but we ended up arriving early (about 40 minutes). The host asked if we wanted to sit downstairs in the piano bar. They were having live music and it was a more intimate setting. The music was great. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped us pick some great selections for apps and entrees. The food was excellent! We had ordered an app that was a special for the evening - spicy mussels over pasta. Awesome! Our entrees were excellent as well. We ordered the tiramisu, which was homemade, and I have never tasted better. I would definitely recommend Vincenzo's."

"Usually Vincenzo's is one of our favorite restaurants. This Valentine's dinner didn't go so well. It took about 30 mins to place our order. they brought out a wrong meal and still served one of us. the whole experience took two hours!"

"Service was friendly and attentive. Stick with the pasta and you will likely enjoy your meal more than we did. Limited wine list, but robust bar otherwise. Cheesy piano player/singer was fun, if you like that sort of thing."

"The location and the service people were great. We arrived early so I ordered a martini. The worst martini ever, I"m sure the vodka was watered down. We were seated early for our reservation which was fine. The bread served before dinner was awful, the Caesar salad was ok. The entree's were not good at all. The sauce was simply out of a jar. Really, for a 'nice Italian' restaurant, the food was substandard. Better food can be had at Olive Garden or Caraba's. Nice ambiance and people, lousy food and drink. Would not go back. I was in Napa Valley last fall and we visited very fine Italian restaurants. So I know what a good Italian restaurants should be."

"Service was very slow. By the time t he waiter brought my second glass of wine I was done with the meal and didn't want it. This is the second time in a row this has been the case. In my view service has really gone down in the last two years to the point I don't really want to try again."

"We've always had a great dining experience at Vincenzo's and, as usual, on Valentine's Day the food was excellent. However, from the time we were seated, it was an hour and twenty minutes before our dinner was served. Our waiter, Troy, seemed very distracted and the kitchen was very slow."

"Our first time there, after hearing about the upstairs dining ambience, the service, the food. Two out of three worked for us. The upstairs dining room is atmospheric, old-world, comfortable. The service was fine and the server friendly and knowledgeable about the offerings. So here goes ... we are foodies, all four of us. The sausage-stuffed pepper appetizer was excellent, the mussels were fresh and good but the web comments review them as sensational, and that's not so. Pastas and steak were well-prepared and competent, but the Veal Francaise was a disaster. This is veal (a fine cut) that was 'washed' with an egg-wash and briefly sauteed. It came as a gloppy mess, with the coating very like sculpy. Inedible."

"We have a great dinner and Troy our waiter was extrememly well informed on the menu and the ingredients of the entres...very knowledgeable and we had excellent service. The most outstanding thing of the evening was....Steve Whidden at the piano. He is just fabulous and we had a great time. My husband's son was visiting from California and not only was he impressed with the food, our waiter Troy,but the music of Steve Whidden. It was an exceptionally great evening for us. We will return to this restaurant."

"Great Old World feel and charm. The food was very good, but, we wish we had descriptions from the waiter to fine tune our choices. (ordered an additional pasta dish because he didn't tell us a large portion of pasta came on the side) He gave clipped unhelpful answers to our questions. He didn't really listen to what we were saying and brought 2 dishes which were not what we ordered. We would go back, but, would certainly be specific about wanting a good waiter."
