Bistro 491
Bistro 491 opened its doors in March of 1999 as an intimate neighborhood eatery serving a menu inspired by the seasons. We strive to serve simple, elegant food, paired with a stellar wine list and professional service. Chef Todd Schafer uses specialty purveyors from all over the nation to get the best quality ingredients, whether it's oysters from Seattle, foie gras from the Hudson Valley or fresh seafood flown in from the M.F. Foley Fish Co. in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Our goal is to treat all of our patrons as we would guests in our home.

"My party was there for my daughter;s 25th birthday, this was my second time at the Bistro. A person whom I assumed was a manager went to each table to chat with the patrons, but not our table. I felt this was like saying you are not welcome here.
Our waiter was awesome, the food was ok, however, I felt like our party was treated with coolness by the greeter and the manager.
I probably will not dine there again."

"While my overall experience was good, my dish (Ahi Tuna) seemed rather plain. It lack taste and I was quite disappointed with it. I tried the blueberry-bacon ice cream, not recommended. The lavender ice cream however was great."

"This was our first time eating at the Bistro. We tried a little of everything....appetizers, salads, entrees, desserts, and differents wines. We were so pleased with everything! I usually find one thing I don't particulary like in the way of food, but I can honestly say.....everything was prepared perfectly, and so very tasty! Our service was wonderful, too, and that is especially nice."

"We were in Agusta for the Master's Tournament and had heard about Bistro 491 from friends who had been there before. We are normally steak and potatoe type people, but thought since we had heard such great reviews we would give it a try. We had a party of six and a 5:30 reservation. The employees were very friendly, informative and just wonderful. The food was amazing! I would recommend it to anyone who is going to be in the Agusta area!"

"This visit was during the Masters so nois was a factor anywhere. We increased our number from 6 to 9 and were accommodated within 15 minutes. Service was great. Bartender won't ou of his way to take care of us and his bar was packed, again due to the Masters. Very busy, great experience."

"We have been wanting to try this place out and we are glad that we did! It's a place where you can enjoy dinner and drinks with friends or a romantic dinner for 2! My husband and I really enjoyed our dinners and the server was excellent! She was very adivisible when it came down to helping us pick our entrees!
Great place! Only thing is that we thought it was a little pricey but it is worth it for the good food and quality service!"

"Six of us met for dinner. The two of us who had the Kobe beef special were not impressed, and my husband's pork was a little over-salted, but the other diners seemed pleased with their choices. My husband and I have dined at Bistro 491 several times, and the quality of the food seems to have slipped just a little. I miss the halibut that used to be on the menu. Still, it is a nice place, and service has always been top-notch. The wine list, while not long, is usually expansive enough to cover what we want. On this occasion we wanted two bottles of a particular wine, but they only had one so we had to switch for the second. Fortunately, the waiter told us in advance, so it wasn't a surprise."

"This was my wife and my second visit. We liked it enought the first time, that this time I took out of town guests. An interesting and delicous tapas menue that almost filled us up, so that we just ordered two entrees to split between the four of us. Very attentive service. "Nice little place we stumbled upon in Augusta. Food was better than most we've had in the area and it was fun to go with a group as it was not incredibly noisy nor did it lack vibrancy. However, the service left much to be desired as waitresses had too many tables and we waited quite a long time to even have our order taken. We didn't mind terribly as we were in good company but there is definitely room for improvement as far as management is concerned and it is a bit pricey. Perhaps our experience would have been better if it was just two of us."

It's good to dress up when you go here too. the menu reminds me of fine dining in Vegas.
You can really appreciate quality of the entire restaurant. Our waitress was so friendly and personable. What were not familiar with some of the items on the menu so she took the time to explain the specials and what certain menu items consisted of. I ordered the Lamb Chops and my fiance ordered the sole fish which were both perfect. The lamb chops were cooked to medium and it was a generous portion. The meat was perfectly cooked on the outside with a slight crunchiness and the meat was super juicy. The sole fish was mild and had a nice sweetness to it from the stuffing. Great Experience!"
