Welcome to La Scala Ristorante Italiano, regional Italian cuisine at its finest. In Milan, La Scala is known for great music; in Little Italy, La Scala means great food!
"We had a 7 PM week-night reservation and dined in the upstairs area. The atmosphere was terrific and quiet with a romantic ambiance. Our two waiters did a great job of describing the specials and answering our questions. I had a fabulous sea bass that was served whole and cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed her crab and shrimp over pasta dish. We were very pleased and recommend La Scala. An added bonus is that George took us back to our hotel near Camden Yards after dinner."

"Great food, service and its quiet. I 1st found this place 1 yr ago for my wife's birthday. We both enjoy Italian food and we've gone to several locations in little Italy before and I wanted to surprise her with something new. I made reservations for us, friends and family were there waiting and she had no idea. After that we told a friends/family that were unable to attend that day how good the food was. Several of them have eaten there and now ANYTIME someone says "let's go out to eat" it's 1 of the 1st places suggested. Long as everyone isn't tight on money."

"This was our first experience there. The service was fantastic. First in a long while that we were at a restaurant that we didn't feel like the courses came back to back as if to hurry you out of the restaurant. We had an enjoyable, relaxed meal we able to truly enjoy. The food was excellant. The menu had a variety of dishes to choose from and several specialty dishes as well. Will definitely return and would recommend to others"

"Excellent dinner. I indicated on my open table reservation that it was our anniversary. They gave us prosecco and a card which was a really nice touch! Expensive, but great for a special occasion."

"Located in a former row style house the restaurant has multiple levels. We arrived a few minutes late due to Inner Harbor traffic but were seated promptly by the personable host. Menu was solid and not too many surprises, but we were looking for good basic Italian. Daughter and I started with the grilled ceasar salad- awesome. Wife had the house salad and liked it. Daughter went for the Gnocci, she said it was the best she has had and melted in her mouth. Wife had a shrimp special and I had the shrimp cooked in garlic and old bay, both shrimp plates were served with 7 large shrimp perfectly cooked. Very filling. We found the noise towards the loud side but easily conversed at our table."

"From the moment we were greeted at the door we felt welcomed. We had requested to sit at the bar through our opentable reservation and they had two reserved places waiting for us. We ordered our grilled cesear salads from the happy hour menu which is available on sunday nights. I had the Carmenere also from the happy hour menu. very good quality smooth full bodied wine and only 5 bucks a glass. My dad enjoyed his Jameson on the rocks. He had the Veal Chop I had Veal Picatta and Tiramisu was shared for desert.. everything was delicious and so was the bread and extra virgin olive oil served with it. I would dine here weekly if my pocketbook allowed!!!"

"There is one word to describe the food and experience we had at La Scala this weekend in Baltimore: Outstanding!! The food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance is wonderful as well. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. We especially enjoyed our post-dinner bocce game :-). I have been to many Italian restaurants and have lived in NYC, Boston and Philadelphia - I cannot remember a better Italian dining experience."

"We live in NYC and been to many Italian restaurants there. We were in Baltimore for the weekend and were recommended this restaurant. It is one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. Great food, super friendly staff and you can even play bocce there."

"The restaurant was outstanding. This comment is for the open table reservation people- I made a reservation for 6:30 pm and when we arrived at the restaurant they said our reservation was for 7:15. I double checked the email I received from open table and the reservation was indeed for 6:30. Not sure where the mix up occurred, however the restaurant did accomodate us at 6:30. I've made other reservations via open table and not had a problem, however this makes me a little leary for the future. Thank you."

"We reserved on Open Table and noted it to be an aniversary dinner. We were seated at a very private table and upon arrival and seated we were greeted with a very nice card from the owner, Nino,as well as glasses of champagne. The dinner to follow was wonderful making this an evening to remember. Thank you La Scala!"

"The service needs work. Wine glasses shouldn't smell like detergent. Our server was reciting specials at a breakneck pace while looking up and down the aisle toward the bar and back. Make eye contact with your guests and slow down. The salumeria was fantastic and served by the chef. Shaved prosciutto, some asiago and pecorino romano were delicious. They also have a good selection of wines. Spaghetti carbonara was a little odd. It's served with a fried egg on top as opposed to being part of the sauce. It guarantees chunks of egg whites in your pasta even after breaking the yolk. There was no offer for dessert. We asked Jose, our server, but he rambled through a selection so fast that we just had to get out of there."

"We were taken to the top floor of the restaurant and were the only couple there. For some that might be ideal, but for us it seemed we were banned and unsure why and noone else ended up sitting there the entire 1hour and a half we were there. For a popular high rated place where was everyone?..besides the other floors. Maybe if we were asked if we wanted isolation. The waiter was nice and by his suggestion i tried the wood grilled casear salad. It really didnt do much for me, if they left it off the menu,i dont think id miss it. I had carbonara and it tasted off and i dont think it was a chefs different twist on it... My other half ordered fettucini with shrimp. It only had 2 shrimp! An hour after we left, both of us had bad stomach aches"

"My guest who lives and eats out a lot in San Francisco thought it was very good all the way around. (She and I reserve 5-stars for really grand dining experiences.) The host greeted us warmly and mentioned our Open Table preferences in passing to assure us he had paid attention. The waiter, who made everything happen like it should, was a laconic fellow, but that didn't bother me at all (I'll take that over gratuitously gushing). Water, bread, a little pre-meal nosh, wine -- all flowed smoothly. The entrées were clearly straight off the stove. (We ate them gingerly for the first couple of minutes.) We were there for an early dinner on a Tuesday. I can imagine the space could get noisy on a really busy evening."

"This was our first time in Little Italy, and my husband and I enjoyed this restaurant. Food and service was great. We want to try new places, but we would go back here again. The bread with gorgonzola was amazing, as was the veal marsala. Had a nice game of bocce ball downstairs after our meal!"

"We thought the food was good but not as good as all the reviews had said it was. The grilled caesar salad that everyone raved about was good but too much dressing. The homemade ghoncci which took a lot of time was good, but then again, too much sauce. Over all, it was good but not as good as we expected and if we had eaten there before, wouldn't have wasted one of the 2 nights we had to show our daughter our new neighborhood restaurants."

"Sat at the bad and had dinner on April 3rd. One special of the evening was grilled/roasted Branzino. It was the best I've ever had. Started with the grilled Caesar salad. Fantastic! The other half had the grilled Caesar with chicken and a special appetizer of Speck rolled around Buffalo Mozzarella and grilled..simply wonderful! The chef(Nino) even came out to offer a little sample of Romano cheese which went perfect with the nice house bread and dipping oil. To finish we shared a homemade Cannolini with traditonal filling and chocolate filling. They filled up half at each end. Great dining experience. You will not be disappointed!"

"Fantastic meal. My family has been to a lot of Italian restaurants all over the world. This place near the top. We loved the indoor bocce ball court. Great service. Grilled ceaser was the best ceaser I have ever had. Atmospher was upscale but still relaxed. No problem bringing our ten year old twins."

"My wife and I had a really great dinner at La Scala. Atmosphere was outstanding and the service was perfect. The food was great - you have to try the espresso martini. Also, if you're staying at a local hotel, check to see if La Scala will pick you up. It was a great dinner experience."

"We took my mother who is in town from South Carolina and loves Italian food. I could tell they had planned to put us upstairs but my mom asked if we could stay downstairs because she has difficulty with stairs. They were very accommodating even though the downstairs was almost full.

"Enjoyed romantic dinner with husband, we had a corner table which was away from other diners so it allowed for a private romantic feel. The service was outstanding, attentive. I had the lamb special which was the best I have ever tasted, and my husband had the pasta ragu dish which was also wonderful. Out waiter made wonderful suggestions for wine and dessert. We went on a Sunday evening so the resaurant was quiet, made for a wonderful experience. Recommend and we will return."

"Actually went to this restaurant years ago when it had different owners and was half the size. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait. Very full dining rooms with large groups-noisy. Hard to have conversaton between the 2 of us. Calamari was tasty-enjoyed the 2 sauces. Veal Saltimbocca was better than the veal marsala. Penne pasta side dish was very tasty. Interesting indoor bocce court. Appreciated the shuttle service to our hotel."
