"Zero stars for service. We put in our order and the waiting begins. Two ladies sat down at the table to our right. We get our lukewarm coffee. A couple sat down to our left. Our waiter disappears. The ladies to our right get their food. Then the couple to our left gets their food. It's been 30 minutes since we ordered. Our waiter shows up finally & says the food will be right out. Another 20 min later... no food still. The ladies to our right finish their meal. No sign of our waiter. When he finally shows up, he sheepishly apologizes & says he will try to see if he can do something about the long wait. BTW, he didn't do anything. No manger came to speak to us, no comp for our lukewarm coffee... nothing. Will never come back."

"Service was extremely slow, which was surprising given the restaurant was not to capacity. Took an hour from the time we were seated until the time we received our food. Had to ask for drinks multiple times before they were served. Food came to the table cold and there was about 10 minutes between when the first plate was brought until the last plate was delivered to our table (and there were only 4 of us). Very disaapointed. Will not be returning. Food quality was ok - nothing special."

"The music selection was kind of lame -- something like a cross between muzak and international / ethnic. Easy listening ethnic? International music lite? Whatever it was, it did not work. It detracted from the beautiful interior designa and the good food. And the music level was slightly too loud. Service could have been a little faster. But we will be back."

"Three of us dined here on Saturday for lunch. The food was excellent, especially the exquisite diver scallops hors d'oeuvre, corn soup, and onion rings! Our waiter Matt was friendly, helpful, and discreet. I was very impressed with the decor and food presentation. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone, for all occasions."

"Our whole family had Easter Brunch reservation at 12:00 at the resturant.We arrived at 11:55 and was prompted seated. The waitress came by about 10 minutes after we were seated and took our orders.We waited another 20 minutes and no one came by the table. We were really starved by now so I asked one of the waiters if he could bring us some bread since we could not find our waitress.The waiter was unfriendly, instead of apologizing for our wait he said "I'll see what I can do" after we requested some bread.We were taken back by his comment since it sounded like it would be a big burden or favor on his part to bring us some bread.Of course he never brought us any bread. By now we had waited 40 min with no food on the table.Easter ruined!"

"Food is diverse and tasty - good variety. Served quite quickly. Took us 15 mins to get a drink order placed upon arrival. Think they were understaffed for the pace of a Saturday night (with a wedding party in private room). Also, NCAA tourney on big screen at the bar and in a very close game, the bartender changed the channel with :47 secs remaining -- bizarre and infuriating. Watched the end of game on our iPhone -- craziness!

"Roppongi is a great spot to dine in La Jolla. The menu is varied and interestting, though not really a place for foodies. We were there in the winter and the indoor dining is warm and inviting. The seating, unless you're in a cozy both, isn't the most comfortable, but it was fine place for a small group. Though a bit noisy at times, it is a fun place to go for a special birthday or occassion for small groups. The service was attentive and courteous."

"After waiting 1/2 hour, we finally got our drinks. Our waiter kept coming over to the table & telling us the bar was really busy and we were "in line". The food was the same - we ordered an appetizer to share, two cups of soup and 2 entrees. The soup came first, then our drinks, then my entree followed. It was nearly 1/2 hour more before my husband's sushi roll came and then we finally got our appetizer! The waiter apologized, the manager apologized, and they bought us dessert. While the food was really good, once we got it, I have to say, the kitchen really needs to get with the program!"

"Long wait for the food. Food placed on the table without a comment and there was no checkback during the duration of the meal. Drinks were empty at the end and only after the plates were cleared did anyone ask about another drink or dessert. We are very positive diners, but this experience was not a trip back to this brunch."

"Great time was had by our group with diverse tastes! We did not feel rushed even though the restaurant was packed. Our waiter was patient with us with questions and requests. Delicious food and cocktails. Great place to catch with old friends over amazing food!"

"This is a beautiful restaurant but unfortunately the service did not match the venue. Besides taking forever to actually take our order, the gap between the first persons entree to the last persons was over half an hour. It's kind of awkward to have dinner when your guest has completely finished their entire meal and had the plate removed before you even have yours placed in front of you. The orders were taken at the same time and when asking the server "how long the sushi rolls will be?" He says, "when it's ready I'll bring it out" I was completely turned off by the place. I will substitute the beautiful venue for a less classy one in order to have a timely order and better service."

"Roppongi is by the owner of Sammy's Woodfire Pizza. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, a great beach location in La Jolla Village with easy parking. The menu is wonderful and the food fantastic. Our server was prompt, efficient and pleasant."

"No bread or chips offered while waiting for our food, when our glass of water was almost empty we have to asked for refill, in most restaurant that are rated 4 or 5 star these things would have been offered/served. All in all the ambience is nice, the food is great, location is outstanding."
