"Hostess sat us in the back of the restaurant - when there was clearly room in the front. The server was not present enough. The server for the table adjacent to ours was present all the time and served us water, etc. because our server appeared to have forgotten we were there. The food was mediocre. No warm butter and/or syrup for the waffles - really!"

"Had mothers day brunch at Chops with my family. Nice restaurant with great service. Staff was very attentive and friendly. The Mother's Day brunch offered many options. Our favorites were the tuna tartare, omlet bar, and prime rib. Everything else was just ok or subpar. The waffles were dry, ham and bacon were extremely salty. Overall, it was a good experience but food was not what I expected for a more upscale steakhouse."

"I had cancelled my reservation with Scott Seafood on The River to try Chops. I should if kept our reservation with Scott's. Chops ran out of Prime Rib, didn't fill the buffet line quick enough for customers. Wait service needs improvement, in fact staff seems inexperience. I do not recommend Chops Sacramento."

"Nowhere near the same as it used to be since the menu has been "moderated" considerably to offer more budget friendly offerings. Especially missed is the stroganoff. Clearly, the menu no longer comes anywhere close to representing the name "Chops". It's just another cookie cutter sandwich place at lunch."

"We've been here for Mother's Day Brunch and dinner, and this time, dinner again. We can clearly see the general manager, Brian really cares about customers and the restaurant that he represents. He is doing a fantastic job and the server we had was excellent as well. We tried Lobster Quesadilla for an appetizer. Simply delicious! Mango sauce that came with it was sweet, tangy with a little kick and it was perfect for the quesadilla. 8 oz New York on special was also perfect. Rice that came with it was so, so. We also had a fettuccine with scallops and they were seared to perfection. Fettuccine was cooked a la dente, exactly how I like them, but its temperature was not hot enough and I was not crazy about the sauce... Very plain and fatty."

"Excellent food and service, plus the waiter and waitress were helpful with answering questions concerning the menu. This was my 2nd visit to Chops and I'll be coming back. They have the best porterhouse steak I've ever had :-) For dessert I shared a humungous piece of cheesecake plus I had a choco-tini--chocolate martini. Delicious!"

"Nice restaurant, but a bit of loose communications this trip. We were a party of 4 with a birthday reservation at 7pm. Wife and I arrived 15 minutes early and were seated at our table. Wives sister and husband arrived just prior to 7pm and were told the other party had not arrived yet, you may have a seat at the bar. As the minutes "clicked on", wife got a text from her sister...."where are you"? Wife text back....."at our table"! Well needless to say a half hour was wasted. Sister and husband got a cocktail at the bar, as did we at our table. Minutes after they came to our table the bar wait person came back and tried to collect for their bar tab, which husband had already paid!! Nice meal but food quality does not equal the high price!"

"Waiter on speed, rushed us out even after we told him to take time, we had 8pm show tickets & a 5:45 reservation; not busy. The Green Plate was delish!, a pleasant change. My Salmon Niçoise salad was served w/only 2 green beans & 1/2 egg; missing: red potatoes,red onion, cucumber, &capers. When questioned, the waiter didn't know anything was missing; had to point out each item & he had to make 2 trips. Still I was served cold fried russet potatoes, & was told they were out of capers. Seriously, how do you run out of capers?!? Additionally, I had asked for all dressings "on the side" & was told "it's really light" when it was served, dressed. The other entree was, sadly, not at all memorable. Needless to say, we won't forget this visit..."

"Chops came with mixed recommendations, and I can see why. Our dinner there had some good food and some very poor selections. The calamari was bland, chewy and dry, the wine we wanted unavailable. Our steaks were nice cuts, but one was overcooked and the other under-done. Although the service was fine, the kitchen mistakes do not justify the high prices for this experience."

"The waiter was excellent! Very attentive and accommodating! The manager was okay but when the Manhattan drink which was watered down and no taste..the manager had it made with Makers and instead of charging me $7 he charged me the $10 because it was made with Markers which I did not request. If the Manhattan was not suitable he should make it up to par and not use the expensive liquor and not tell me!!! Manager did not set well with us. We were there at 5:30PM on Tuesday, April 9 in Sacramento on 11th St. Nadine Miller"

"We've been to Chops many times in the past and went again this time for my wife's birthday. We had a great experience, as usual, with 2 slight issues. I was somewhat surprised when we got the bill that we were charged $2 to split a salad and $2.95 for "loaded" mashed potatoes. The cost doesn't concern me, as much as the principle behind it. I would suggest telling the customer of the charge up front and let them make the decision to whether to accept it or not. This way, there's no surprises at the end.
Otherwise, we had a great dinner at a great restaurant."

"We were seated right across from the kitchen door, so it was pretty busy, but that doesn't bother me...because I know I can see my server often). The waitress had a great personality. The food took quite a while to come out, though. I ordered a non-alcoholic beer and it probably took close to 10 minutes (if not more) to get it delivered. The waitress (only after I flagged her down and asked where my beer was) said the bartender was very backed up that night (it was a Friday night). I was not happy about my baked potato being lukewarm, at best. We asked for our steak medium rare and it came out quite rare. We ordered the lava cake for dessert and the center was pretty solid and didn't run like it should have...but it did taste very good."

"I made reservations for Valentine's Day 2 months in advance. Yet, when we arrived, a couple that came in after us were seated BEFORE us and in a booth. We were seated in a small table. I was very displeased. I asked the hostess to re-seat us and that we'd be willing to wait at the bar. Her response was, "I'm sorry. There's nothing i can do." Ugh! I was SO annoyed and ready to leave! When our waiter came and asked how we were I told him I was unhappy and why. He just apologized and also did nothing. However, another waitress overheard and SHE came over, moved us to a booth, took care of us and provided OUTSTANDING service. I'll go back BECAUSE of her! We also complimented her, to the owner."

"My birthday dinner. I have dined here many times, so I was excited and knew I was in for a great meal! The hostess was very sweet and wished me a happy birthday and sat us at a great corner booth. Dan was our server, he was awesome! We started with a spinach salad and followed it with the porterhouse dinner for two Oscar style with a lobster tail. Dan was thoughtful asking if we would like our crab cakes as an appetizer. Everything was delicious. My only mini complaints are the bread, butter and dessert. The last few times I have been here I have found the Foccacia very dry with an almost stale quality to it. Neither of us care for the tomato butter. We were given a complimentary Creme Brûlée which seemed previously frozen & grainy."

"I wasn't impressed with anything enough to make me want to come back a second time. I ordered the Dip Into Downtown and my bread was soggy before I dipped it into anything. We barely saw our waitress. We didn't see her once after she dropped off our food. We had to wait quite some time after we were done with our meal before we saw her taking someone else's order to flag her down just to get our bill. We were on our lunch break and needed to get back to work."

"This was the day before Valentine's Day which was probably why it was quiet and very romantic. The wait staff was knowledgable about the menu and left us alone when we were in deep conversation. They were very helpful when we needed advice or a question about the history of Chops.

"Dinner was pretty good. My wife enjoyed her lobster tail. My 12oz. filet was over cooked, even after being told by our server that they under cook their steaks, AND I was never asked how my steak was after I received it. The service was really good besides not asking how my steak was cooked. Otherwise an enjoyable dinner."

"The first time I ate at Chops a few years ago, it was fine. This time, the service was slower than molasses, the Reuben dry and the side salad drenched in dressing. My companion's French Dip was fine, thankfully. Don't think we will go back though. Too bad, since it is so convenient!"

"We have been to Chops a few times and it had always been very good! I wanted to bring my husband for his birthday. This time, we all 4 thought the service was below satisfactory, the food wasn't as good as expected. NO ones meat was cooked how we ordered. We all ordered Medium and the filets were over cooked, 1 was under cooked, and the prime rib was well done! My husband wanted the blue cheese sauce to pair with his filet, and what they brought to him, 5 minutes later, was basically blue cheese dressing! not gourmet. Would be safe to say we will not be giving Chops another chance!"

"Service was excellent - fast, attentive, friendly. Complimentary parking across the alley. Great menu selection. Disappointed in my filet - was a bit overcooked and not as tender as the thai beef skewers appetizer. The $42 porterhouse was overpriced and did not meet expectations. The calamari appetizer serving was huge, but chewy and greasy. The recommended buttermilk mashed potatoes had no flavor, but the side glazed carrots were delicious. $6 for a dessert sundae was expensive for what was served. Our party of 4 will not return to this restaurant."
